I totally forgot about this awesome game You were creating here Corta! Long time before I was watching this thread and waiting for updates. They didn't come for some time and topic seemed forgotten. I'm so happy to see it going again! With all those updates!

It's MUCH better, and Ridley's flying grab also appears to be working.

The only thing that leaps out at me now is the fact that his HP bar sometimes... doesn't show his actual HP. XD

The physics and animations are very good, it's a pleasure to see a project start like that.

However, I don't see the capsule when the game start : there is an empty cavern, I push two times the spacebar, and then the capsule appear. Is it normal ?

I think you should make it space/click to continue through scene stages instead of timed encounters. just a thought

The hit detection is awesome now, but it's also seemingly unavoidable. This seems fine, as the only way for him to charge you is if you run to far away, and because if you hit him with a charged shot as he's flying he'll fall without hitting you, but it's something to mention.

Okays so, it's a lot less bad, it's kinda TOO GOOD in a way because I can be about 5 feet away charging my blaster waiting for him to charge, and he kinda magically grabs me from further away and I actually have to let go of my shot WAY sooner then should be needed. (Not really a big deal, I don't mind watching my character get fucked repeatedly for my miss timed shots)

I also noticed if you just jump right down into the pit to fight ridley without fucking the others up on the main platform, the three pirates are down on the lower platform just chilling out walking in predetermined routines and being oblivious to my presence it's almost like when you exchanged their forms up to the top platform a copy of their picture and walk cycles stayed down there. :L Kinda weird haha.

Anyways I think you are doing awesome and I think the new characters are amazing :3 Good job and good luck with future updates!!! :D

The camera appears to be completely screwed for me. If it helps, I just updated Firefox to the most recent version. As things currently stand, it is literally impossible for me to do much of anything, because the camera is locked into a position somewhere to the right of start on the main game. It was bugged out in the Metroid Lounge this morning, but appears to have righted itself now.

I'm back from a busy week to give a little heads-up on the next update

I've been making some pretty new zones to play around in (it might actually start being a game soon..)
now, the gap between 'functioning' and 'completed' is about 3 hours/zone.. i know, right?
1minute coding, followed by 4 mins of boundaries followed by a hemorrhage of pretty colours..

I had about half of that time to get this done, today..

now that I look at it zoomed out.. my placing needs plenty of work..
..I also need more trees..

the plan is for an update when I've got there to the village done, wonder if that'll work out in time.. :?

I suspect that this may also be a flash glitch, the code being a single line and all..
but I'm looking for a way to fix that.

yeah, my bad. I forgot to set one of the variables for the auto-cam in story mode.
it'll be fine next update. if I remember

when I make the hitboxes smaller, they stop connecting altogether - but, I'll keep tweaking.

actually, that's them clipping through their floor with your gravity.
It's never happened to me, but I can make the floor thicker and it'll stop.

The scenery looks very detailled, I hope you will keep a good framerate ingame.

About ActionScript and the camera zoom, do you use a special fonction for it ?
The only solution I found for my game is to use the scaleX and scaleY propreties, but the framerate decrease drastically with it.

You should make Submissive and Aggressive time-based and the Dominating scenes player controlled. At least i think so... :P

When Ridley does his dive-grab, shooting him with a fireball seems to be completely ineffective.
(Also, the fireballs often seem to explode on enemies while doing... no damage, and sometimes they seem to explode in FRONT of Ridley while doing... no damage.)

Think you could get the graphics to double as hitboxes so that they "kill two birds with one stone"?
Maybe you should just spend a day or two simplifying your code by making one graphic serve multiple functions things like that. (if you can)

##Update: March 25th.
--Added: s'more story maps to look at, no baddies, yet.
--Changes: fixes all over the place, performance should be a bit better and things should work..

--Notes: It's about time I made more of the story part, huh?


so, some pretty basic design going on in the neutral areas.. (porno->rpg->platformer..)
got about 1 and a half done,

the cave exit, one scene planned for there - involves being thrown into the cell at the warcamp *spoilers?!*
..the warcamp, where you'll earn some not-enemies -maybe-
and what's going to be the village with grotto attachment..

and yes, area 52's sharpclaws are planned for these areas..
boys and girls. and maybe the t-rex..


also, under things you won't notice:
healthbars, shot collision, ridley hitboxes and more should be fixed -probably- just do some bug-testing for me, we're getting closer, if not..

the framerate looks fine for me,
optimized meshes, enabled hardware acceleration. (Google them, teaching yourself is the best way to learn code)

I had the same idea about 12 months ago, because that's what's being used (and it's part of the problem)
I had a solution that I put into the last update, but I placed it under the spray bullet's graphic.

and now that I've been informed, it's where it belongs and things work much better.

Hmm.
I'm glad it helps.
Any time I can be part of contributing something which helps to improve a game I greatly enjoy, I get the warm fuzzies inside.

Ridley can at least be HURT now, by shooting fireballs at him when he's diving in, although he doesn't seem to take full damage.

The space pirates in particular DO still occasionally tank fully charged shots to the face for absolutely no damage, though.
I can't reliably replicate it, but if you keep luring the space pirates from the metroid lounge over to the left of the stage and firing a charge shot at them the MOMENT the player-character's hair starts to sway in the last stage of her charging animation, you should have it occur reasonably frequently.
It may help to fire just as the pirates are starting to crouch to fire their own projectiles.
In the past, I've actually had a mid-charged shot go straight through a pirate who was in the process of crouching, and the shot neither exploded nor did any damage.

Sometimes the fireball explodes before it hits 'em, too.

Speaking of explosions going off before the fireball hits things, if you aim up at a Metroid, the ball tends to explode even if it doesn't hit the metroid at all.
(But that's just an aesthetic consideration, because the metroid totally takes full damage. Fireball graphic itself might need to be a bit bigger mebbeh?
Or is it the Metroid hitbox that is very very generous?)

Last gameplay-related note: Melee doesn't appear to do anything at all to Ridley.

And a graphical thing that you might or might not be able to do anything at all about: There's no visible cum in the "Metroid from behind" scene.

A wonderful start to what could be a singularly epic game once completed!

Fortunately my eyes see no graphical problems so far, although game-play wise I feel Ridley is a bit too... *clicks fingers searching for the word* Glitchy... Namely, taking strikes that would hit as if he was all alone! Even a Charge Shot to the face has yet to harm him whenever I fight him... Unless he was meant to be like that...

However I, Dalaketx, leave this feedback in your hands as I return the the shadows whence I came.

alright, crunch week is finally over and I've got some days off to play with. ~FUCK YEAH~

tracing and placing gets old pretty fast, so I've started working on some stuff that I know you guys will love..
it's just.. I'm feeling a little indecisive 8-)
so, what's nicest out of these? or maybe you think you're smarter, more creative and want me to feel bad.. let's talk!
(and yeah, the screens are in frame-mode -- outlines, no costumes, no expressions, floating stuff, etc.)

and pirate grab positions are pretty much locked-in, just need to extend the cool bits to fit the new "do not press go, do not collect genetic sample" scene handler.

- You arn't meant to punch ridley (just like hydras) but I'll let his counter-melee tell you that -- adding minimal melee damage.

I never much cared for wordswordswords, I much more prefer expressions, guestures and pictography lest my eyes a-sleep..
and failing that, a knock-up in flash involving sound-effects and work-smart scene transitions -- but sadly, I have time to do neither at this point.

I do, however, give permission for both dubbed versions and/or an uploads on my behalf
~ free to a good home!
