Im still sticking to my "guns" here and saying that from my perspective it looks like (and feels like) Greek mythology (although now that you pointed out that the forerunners created "Eden" I do understand where your coming from). Id like to point out that not only did the Forerunners create "Eden"...the ~entire~ reason for the Human V. Covenant War was because the High Counsel (the ugly aliens in robes) realized that the humans were descendants of the Forerunners and that if anyone got wind of this information it would overthrow their hierarchy...and their POWAH in shambles. Just like in Greek mythology where some men were demigods who were imbued with the power to do great things humans were given that same ability.

Let me quote a excerpt from the great Wikipedia:

I know that Bungie wont be creating another game in the near future...I seen they signed on with Activision or some shit. I've seen on some site i was searching one late night that if Bungie ~were~ to do another game in the future MC would crash land on a lost Forerunner planet (If you played through on legendary you got to look at it...). Sound familiar? it should! Coming down the home stretch i wanna finish off saying that after Athena (a Forerunner?) gave Odysseus (MC?) his disguise as the old beggar, the beggar sets up the challenge to string up the long bow and shoot it through all the rings, finally revealing himself to the suitors (Covenant), and fight them out of his home and off of his wife (...Cortana or Earth?). I know that the Elites are sided with the humans now and that their alliance with the Covenant ended but I don't think that means the war with them is entirely over just yet...so it could be that the Phaeacians, who were "skilled mariners", pick up John several years later and bring him home...to "Finish The Fight!"

I didn't know most of those games you named off, lol Aaaand that's why Science Fiction's better! TYRANNOSAURUS WITH LASER BEAMS?! YAAAaaaa!! *Peter Griffin style* !

I fear that your connections to the Odessy are just co-incedental, but I can't be certain.
Also, the covenant is sorta gone, the majority of their remiaing fleet was wiped out above the Ark by the elites ;P

Well, I don't care. I only played Combat Evolved and am happy with it. Same is with Half-Life: Only HL1.

I bought and read the Halo books and yes it is a sad way to go with the story but from what i can summarize for you is that the humans had a giant doughnut shaped ring filled with orbiting MAC guns capable of piercing ships and leaving a lifeless hull. The Covenant breached their defenses and started landing shock troops to cut the orbiting MAC guns power so they could lace the planet in super heated lasers and "glass" the planet. John (Spartan-117 -- leader of the Spartans) knew this and had to send half his Spartans to Reach while he went to a nearby UNSC ship and scuttle it because it had a super intelligent AI with information leading back to Earth and everything humanity sought and built for. John blew the ship to hell and while he was jettisoning out from the blast he seen Reach getting glassed and thinking all of his Spartans had died. *Spoilers* This is where there's a plot twist and a handful of johns men and women survived the glassing beacause there was a secret underground forerunner complex under the facility of Reach itself...Johns Spartans piled inside the caves deep underground and set C4 all over and caved themselves inside...at the end of it all they get out with a few less men and with a highly valuable Forerunner artifact...then the scientist who created the original Spartan program (who abducted kids, cloned them, and put the clones with their family and nobody was the wiser) took one of the most valuable Spartans aboard a spaceship with the Forerunner artifact and abandoned the Spartans "Mission".

Reach will most definitely be the rise and demise of most of the planets inhabitants and it will be engaging and enjoyable however sad and somber it may be.

Actually it wasn't an AI with the data leading to earth, it was just a nav core on a stotaion that had been disabled and so they couldn't wipe it via tha computers, so they sent 117 to go smash it manually

Obstute viewers might note the prescence of Kat's right arm, and go on to realise that the bloke with the jetpack is none other than the previous noble 6, and this is how he dies.

Mind you, if I was choosing who would be carrying the bomb, I would probably have chosen the spartan with the freaking jetpack!

I've really been enjoying Monday Night Combat on the Xbox. It's kinda a Team Fortress clone, but it's damn good fun!

Oh, and yes I would be playing Halo, but due to a crap-load of technical failures it's not going to arrive until tomorrow
