Just because you can get some where other than the conclusion doesn't mean the conclusion is wrong. Your statement just strengthen my statement.

I'm optimistic that the test I am about to take isn't fucked up at all, and I will pass even though I am a selfless, pacifist, free spirited, open minded, young adult, with minor asperger's syndrome.... fml

Becareful what you say, also check the rules before you talk about torrents again. Just for your own safety.

What he's saying is that there can be forum rules against "promoting piracy" or w/e, and there's certainly precedent that talks about torrenting can be construed as "promoting piracy".

@any moderators :!: I apologize for the torrent thing. I do make my share of legal purchases. But i only use torrents for games that CAN NOT be found anymore. such as DarkReign, Dune 2000, the original Command and Conquer, and other like that. but no more from me on that subject! I no way no how want to seem like i promote torrents. -Disclaimer-

Those are considered abandonware. The law is very messy around that area and in theory it's illegal but for the most part your not hurting anyone by doing it.
If you were to download Xcom UFO or TFTD it's being active sold on steam so bad idea. Also check out "good old games" since they've been making quite a list of games they sell from dos age.

"Promoting the outright theft of tens of megabytes of digital product... what is the world coming to?"

I don't mean to get on your case, Smackman, but torrenting copyrighted content is illegal. I understand that you might say "He's only saying it, so the first amendment protects him", but that's not necessarily true as he is posting it on a forum.

Any case, I've picked up a few ROMs over the years, simply because they're not being sold anymore, and resale doesn't support the game devs. In this case, where purchasing the game won't support the devs, I believe it's somewhat reasonable to use a ROM.

As part of the moderating team we have a zero tolerance policy for pirating, as well as promoting pirating on our website. What you do off-forums, or on msn etc. is up to you. This also extends to websites that are known to infringing copy-right material (bar a few exceptions such as mediafire etc in distributing non pirated software such as projects you have developed).

That being said there is no problem with bit-torrenting itself it isn't pirating, and can be freely discussed on the forums.

(i think it was me. +1 point for derailment! XD) but since this is a "giant thread of optimism" and not a gaming thread, let us get back on topic: Optimism: the good things in life. Lets see.... I got a job in this damn economy, I can support myself and my girlfriend, I'm getting into college very soon and I find myself on the top of the leaderboard in Starcraft 1. IM FUCKING 18! its such a great feeling. Next?

After work tomorrow (well, it's technically today, but who cares?), I'm officially on spring break. A whole week of kicking back and relaxing! All of my friends may have had their spring break this week, but oh well. I'm still just chillin' for a week.

Everyone who got a free student version of flash from their high school raise your hand, please. :P

you can still get stuff for free without stealing from the developers/retailers... that is... if you're still in high school.

EDIT: sorry, that is, got a FULL version for free because you're a student.
