The outline on that particular Zombie looks a little bit out of place for some reason.

Also, while it doesn't make sense to me to want a Zombie game without gore, I still TOTALLY want a zombie game without gore, so I'm all over that "gore no, outlines no" vote.

Seriously though, isn't it possible to have a toggle for that put in place, so that the whole voting process relating to the gore on the Zombies becomes irrelevant?

Holy shit, you have some wonderfully kinky fetish going on there.

ByHisBillowingBeard Wrote:WHAT¬!?¬!!?! THE WALKING LIKE A SIR WAS FANTASTIC¬!!!

Love the idle sprites. Thought Level 0 was.. maybe a little low/over the top in its .. shyness but it's still good. Perhaps a passing comment. Will probably look better with level 3 and 2 too.

Thanks. Gonna go with kronos', BlueLight's, Lucky's and xblurp's suggestions; leave her in the standing position, with maybe a small less pronounced bending over.

I think I might settle this zombie walking thing once and for all, since I really want to get through the zombie sprites and a workable demo on the way:
ZombieWalkOutline.png

Here's a still from the new walking style; more of him shuffling from side-to-side, dragging his left foot.
This version has me turning on the outline layer and turning off the gore layer (ribs, guts et al). I haven't made the two layers compatible though. :(

So... Outline yes? Gore no? Or both yes? Or whatever?

You're welcome to criticise the pose, although as I've already started animating it there's little change I can implement.

ZombieWalkLikeASir.png

The old walking like a sir. Straight from the side shot, so relatively easy animation.

... I'm too embarassed to upload the one with the pole up his arse.

Looks nice :P but I don't really like how the zombie's white, blank eyes and expressions look. Also, are the zombies going to have hair? :)

Postby FAPCOM » Wed Mar 14, 2012 6:06 pm

I've made the outline too dark and pronounced haven't I.
... shiiiiit.

Well, I've upped a small sandbox version of where I'm at in the game. It's not flash so you'll have to download it; let's face it, if I so much as upload a flash with sex in it, there's bound to be "that" sniffer bot surfing the interwebs ready to pluck it into some website chock-full of viruses. Rebecca just wouldn't feel at home there. And yes, there won't be sex in this version, but there will definitely be some in the next (and zombies too!) so flash is definitely out. Just ironing out "sprite fluidity" for now.

Anyway, I'm not taking over for ZFied. I'm just giving you guys a break because there hasn't been an update in forever and I'm worried since I haven't gotten a reply from ZFied. Again, I just want to see the sprites in action. No point waiting this long if they aren't even up to the cut.

Also, I'm new to gamemaker, but I'm pretty sure I didn't put a virus in the game anywhere. If your antivirus says there's a virus in it, well... I have no idea. But report it because I think it could be serious! ... :P

Here's a Q&A to follow; just answering a few queries you guys might have.

question 1 Wrote:There's no sound! What gives?!

... The file'll be too big if I pack it with ZFied's bgm's and catgirl's voice clips. I might have to upload this to mediafire or something if I pack it with sounds.

question 2 Wrote:Does this mean you'll say something like "I'll make sure this game's complete even if I have to program everything myself!"

Long answer: No. I respect that this is and will always be ZFied's project, and that the game should proceed with his vision.

Short Answer: No. ZFied will kill me.

question 3 Wrote:Why is Rebecca shooting a gun that... doesn't shoot anything?

I haven't done the reloading animations. I haven't done the reloading coding. I haven't done the knifing animation. I haven't even got an inventory screen. I haven't even got to the shooting bullets code snippets yet!

Also, I'm a lazy inconsiderate git so I've neglected to ask AnooB for the item sprites. That includes bullets lying around to replenish your ammo. Anoob, help!

question 4 Wrote:Where be the zombies?!

I'm ironing out the zombie grappling sprites. There's the "I want to eat you, Rebecca!" grapple sprite, the "I like your shirt" grapple sprite and the "I want to be inside you" grapple sprite. On top of that, the zombie staggering from any generic attack sprite, and the falling down after being killed/incapacitated temporarily sprites.

question 5 Wrote:Help! Help! I've spotted a bug! The background looks like it's been shrunk for little people/leprechauns!

Not a bug. I just haven't bothered resizing the image properly. So until then, welcome to Lilliput, home to invisible leprechauns and would-be zombie apocalypses.

*Edit*
Fixed
...-ish.

question 6 Wrote:Help! Help! I've spotted a bug! Rebecca goes nude when I shoot

I haven't bothered to put her fully clothed shooting/aiming sprites in there yet because... I... lost them somewhere on my usb stick. I promise I'll search for them later.

... Don't look at me that way.

question 6 Wrote:Help! Help! I've spotted a REAL bug! What can I do to help?

Report it. And be lenient because I can't code to save my life and the guys I know who do know how to code are either too busy/have no experience with the Game Maker IDE.

question 7 Wrote:Hey, there are TWO question sixes!

Yep, there sure are!

question 8 Wrote:What can I do to help?!

Next time you see ZFied, tell him you love him, very, very much.

question 9 Wrote:Why are you talking to yourself?

... Shut up.

PS: wasd to move (although w and s don't do anything because I haven't put in the crouching sprites or let her jump yet) and shift to aim and space to fire (while holding shift, obviously).

ok i'll tell this to you FC, after playing it a bit on my friends comp i noticed that the glitch that i found long ago is still there, the one when you go into the side room instead of the door that brings up the alarm, if you enter that room and try to back track (like to save) then it will just take you to the hallway of the alarm-starting door, just thought you might like to know that dood

This is very weird coming back after such a long hiatus, but nonetheless, I'm back. Not sure how long for, being more and more busy with each passing day.

Hm, nice to see that FAPCOM has been keeping you guys equipped with hope for this project. Been having a tough time recently, but as always, I WILL continue this project.

I'll just be waiting on sprites from FAPCOM, while working on the game as much as I can.

Edit: P.S. you guys want me to throw together some sort of demo when FAPCOM gets the sprites ready?

When he gets the main character and the zombies fully done, I'd be happy with a new demo of mercenaries mode, while you worked on resizing the stages and whatnot.

It'd show off the animations in motion AND the new ranking system all at once.

I'd hope to see the "remove that ring of blackness obscuring your field of vision" cheat in that demo as well.

Anyway, pose and expression criticism time.
Be lenient... I've got to head out and shoot down some more rogue pixels.

I have to agree, I took one look at the sprites for 1 and 0 and said to myself "lol wut?" they just didn't look right. that said however, sprite 0 nudity could be used as part of her dying animation, rather than the sudden drop thing it did in the game whenever you ran out of health/reached 100% infection.

if I can make a suggestion, an idea for a demo for those of us wanting something to work with, why not have the intro bar scene, and you can include the walks like a sir with monacle and top hat zombie. This way, you could test both the sex animations, and the fighting itself.

Talking about a walking like a sir top hat wearing monacled zombie makes me think of the 2nd joke ending to Silent Ponyville 2. Top hat and cane dancing Pryamid head singing hello my ragtime gal=epic win, just as said zombie would be epic win.

The ring of dark would certainly make more sense in a silent hill game. I can understand why they had it in the outside area's and inside the building before power was restored, but otherwise it didn't make much sense.

Actually, a silent hill version of this could be both rather interesting, and theoretically highly disturbing. Heck, you could have the radio thing, rather than having static, start moaning like someone's getting screwed the closer you get to enemies.

......I don't know whether that'd be super hot or highly disturbing. probably both :D

I have no experience when it comes to sprite making.I just started today having an interest in the whole game designing thing.Ummm, anyways I was looking at the previous page with the other monster sprites like the Licker and I thought I would give it a try at re -sizing them if you don't mind. I think it would give me some nice practice and if anything good came out of you would be helped with the sprites if you want. So yeah... since I don't really know anything I wanted to know what size the scale for the sprites should be.

Okay, starting from the bar, go all the way to the right, you'll enter a facility. Kill or dodge the zombies that show up as you go. You'll have an elevator, go down it and go left, making sure to jump over the pit of death (I think its a pit of death) go down another elevator and on your right should be some doors. Go through the doors, one of them should have a power generator. Activate the generator and you'll restore power to the facility or whatnot. At some point, I can't recall where exactly, you'll find a room with two zombies and a guy that's sitting on the floor. Kill the zombies and then talk to him, getting a key thingy to unlock a door.

Basically, for the most part, its head towards the right side of the screen, kill anything in your path, and go through any doors your able to and you'll eventually get to the boss. Be careful, as to my recollection it can only hurt you if your standing up, so crouch and shoot and you should be fine.
