I'll challenge you on that one, Gorbaz. Having unrealistic expectations of the world doesn't help one survive better. I can imagine "Humans survive better by always finding something to be happy with", as I've seen studies detailing that happiness can help alleviate many problems, but I'm not so sure about ignoring risks being good for survival.

Ah, but being optimistic of the chances of things being better somewhere other than where you are now was a driving force for the spread of Homo Sapiens. Otherwise, if we were simply 'finding something we were happy with', then we probably wouldn't have left Africa as soon as we did until forced to by population grown and imminent starvation. We wouldn't have computers, because we would have been 'happy with' the abbacus, or firearms as we were 'happy with' bows and crossbows. Optimism - that things could be better than they are - has allowed scientific growth, but letting people imagine what the 'better' could be, and then do it with high hopes of it being a success.

Would the Europeans left for the Americas if they didn't have unreal expectations of how it was going to be, before finding out that life was actually really hard founding a new colony? But not return, because they expected that, despite how hard it was, they could still make it better?

Optimism can also be defined as being happy with what one has. If we were willing to settle for being hunter-gatherers, we'd be really stupid.

In any case, you and I tend to agree on this subject, but do so with different words.

Yet if I kick him off and he dies, I won't know about it, you see what I did thar >:3. I am obviously joking about this in light of serious events. Only way he gets booted is if he breaks the terms and contracts signed up when joining this forum.

well its not a criminal issue really, although suraru might be forced to see a shrink after the lawsuits and stuff... which is fine because he seems like he might need to be on zoloft anyways... (i dont really support anti-depressants because I think theyre mind control drugs but I'm not capable of feeling deep depression either)

You know, if people thought that I was in danger of being suicidal and, because of it, stopped me from going to work (or school if I was 12 years younger), I would feel more inclined to take my own life than before. There's only so much gaming one can do!
