I envy those who have someone close by their side.Those that have someone to love and be loved by. Right now, I am surrounded by Darkness, and no Light can even think to free me. Once again, this time comes around and once again I find myself full of loneliness and resent. I have chosen to embrace the Darkness and I will never go back to the Light.

Micheal P. Murphy died trying to save his team mates. Thanks to him, one did make it out alive. He is a true hero.

While leading a mission to locate a high-level anti-coalition militia leader, Lieutenant Murphy demonstrated extraordinary heroism in the face of grave danger in the vicinity of Asadabad, Konar Province, Afghanistan. On 28 June 2005, operating in an extremely rugged enemy-controlled area, Lieutenant Murphy's team was discovered by anti-coalition militia sympathizers, who revealed their position to Taliban fighters. As a result, between 30 and 40 enemy fighters besieged his four member team. Demonstrating exceptional resolve, Lieutenant Murphy valiantly led his men in engaging the large enemy force. The ensuing fierce firefight resulted in numerous enemy casualties, as well as the wounding of all four members of the team. Ignoring his own wounds and demonstrating exceptional composure, Lieutenant Murphy continued to lead and encourage his men. When the primary communicator fell mortally wounded, Lieutenant Murphy repeatedly attempted to call for assistance for his beleaguered teammates. Realizing the impossibility of communicating in the extreme terrain, and in the face of almost certain death, he fought his way into open terrain to gain a better position to transmit a call. This deliberate, heroic act deprived him of cover, exposing him to direct enemy fire. Finally achieving contact with his headquarters, Lieutenant Murphy maintained his exposed position while he provided his location and requested immediate support for his team. In his final act of bravery, he continued to engage the enemy until he was mortally wounded, gallantly giving his life for his country and for the cause of freedom. By his selfless leadership, Lieutenant Murphy reflected great credit upon himself and upheld the highest traditions of the United States Naval Service.

It depresses me a hero like this was forgotten, and even if he isn't now, I'm sure hundreds still are. Reminds me why we say "Thank you for serving our country"

Fair enough. I think that the war heroes should be appreciated, and I'll surely read such a story and be very enthused by how brave Mr. Murphy was, while I'll read "Whitney Houston, famous for going into rehab, dies in bathtub" and skip the article.

the guys a Navy Seal... they sort of do covert work so the fact you never heard of him mean't he did his job well. Whitney Houston was i guess a pop star who was on tv/stage regularly so her job was to be known by everyone... so that would explain the difference in treatment after their deaths.

Its more about who deserved the attention more, not why it is.

that's always the case, but you have to take into account his job involved him getting into a dangerous situation so the possibility of him dying was always there, Whitney houston wasn't and when you look at it from a news perspective who's going to report about the Navy Seal officer who on an undisclosed mission died saving his comerades, which would be a great story but wouldn't sell many papers as apposed to Whitney Housten international music star dies in bathtub. It all comes down to what will sell more papers in the end and Celebrities always sell more so no matter how undeserving it is they will always get the bigger spread.
