BCM's Art Training - NEW POLL :) Which color do you prefer?

Postby BCM » Tue Dec 23, 2014 5:46 pm

Hello! I am a programmer looking to get into game development, so I shall be learning to draw (Plain and simple :D)
I will be posting all content here that I am doing/studying. I hope you will help and encourage me in any way you can!
If I am able to get that level, fapping will be strongly encouraged (Will take as double points! )
-Thanks!

POLL
I have decided to try to bring my "Midnight Lust" game back to life =] I have not decided a color though, so I would need your advice! Which color do you prefer the most? Also included her nude in hopes you have fun with it  haha. Let me know what you guys think!

P.S: The initial coloring of her was set as Purple. Please exclude how other colors (hair, lips, mascara) do not match accordingly. These pictures are more for an "imaginative" view.
And if you choose "Other", feel free to comment what you think is best!

Since it may take a while for me to post anything worthy, here's some of my art I manage to recover from an unfinished game I made, "Midnight Lust".

Also draw a little daily, and use reference images. youtube has a lot of good beginner tutorials.

Well... it's always a little problematic when someone just start to draw. In the beginning don't wait anything good. I don't want to offend you, but those pictures are far from acceptable, not a good idea to call them "art". My advice for you is that you need to start on paper and with simple lines. Draw a circle, try to halve the paper with a single line, then again and if you are tired start over again. It sounds idiotic, but trust me, it's helps to learn the proportions, the certain lines. Don't bother with colors yet. And watch a lot of pictures. Your picture is close to them? No? Then try again.
Peoples say you need talent for draw, well that's just half of the truth. Practice is the other half. You need to practice every day even if just a little. If you can't do that... finish the whole thing and would rather do something else that is better for you.

Sorry, maybe that's a little harsh, but the reality. And sorry for my english, it's not my native language

Not at all! Quite the contrary!
I appreciate the insight. I thought I could learn to draw easily but I was wrong. It does require lots of practice and study.
And your english is very good ;)

Well, hang in there. I know I want to do what you aspire to do, but I don't have the time nor patience for it.

it's actually not bad.

your shapes look what they're meant to and .. I've seen worse anatomy.

tips I'd give -

your shading is sloppy.
try to think about everything as 3d shapes being drawn, light and shadow will never fade from center-out like that unless something is concave. (and even then..)
also, when parts connect together, try and blend the shapes together.
see those shoulders, elbows and hips?
I know you can do better ;)

quick mention: outlines.
you know what's wrong, here.

and on a minor note, most beginner art tends to have very saturated colours.
it's not really a problem (if it fits your theme) and it'll sort itself out.. but, being aware of it might help you to become more design-savvy. ;)

there.. critiqued.

THIS WHAT YOU WANT?!

it's between red and purple
..but the most important thing is why.

the colours that dont change is what stops the others from working.
her lips and mascara are red/purple for all of them, and for blue in particular, it just doesnt fit. (lipstick on the pale colour is still too strong to match.) (the black hair doesnt clash, though. so that's awlrite.)

my vote goes towards art round 2.

didnt catch ML when it was up, so I dont have much idea, but..
could always pikmin it and take most/all of 'em ;)
easy to weave in some gameplay with that too. (enemy preference from elemental resistance, health/attack/Hpower mixes .. stuff like that.)

Yeah sorry, I guess this is a bit biased. Initial color I worked with is purple. I like the purple myself personally but, I want to make her what other people want more. If a different color is chosen, I will update the coloring of the lips and mascara.

Is that purple or red?

Thanks for the quick reply =]
