Thanks for the comments all.
I know it's pretty buggy but this is my own first flash as well: I've been reverse engineering Actionscript from this game and teaching myself as I go along, adding a little bit each month. My earliest attempts at animation are the ones that are the most jerky. The more fluid animations are my more recent ones.
Just wanted to say it's neat to see someone take this & try to improve it. Nice job. =D
If you decide to work on this again & my old FLA files would help, just let me know. (Be warned, they kind of suck, as it was my 1st attempt & all...)

I really would appreciate that, I sent you an email earlier about this flash and my future plans. To be perfectly frank I'm confident in my progressing skills in animation but I know next to nothing of actionscript. I want to re-incorporate the clothes system, with a Beta on the Beach or Twin Orbs tear off system; new enemies etc, but I haven't worked out how the actionscript works yet.
Game broke on the second screen. Blue bar all the way across the top and character trapped in an animation loop/vanished. Also the fps is really low.
Would you believe I just discovered how to set the frame rate today? And the Blue bar was caused by my early reverse engineering attempts. Playing with actionscript to see what it did. Turned out that line was the health bar.
Edit: You also removed the clothes system; a system that really made this game great. That's kinda lame. (maybe you removed losing clothes. Still kinda lame.)
at the time it was because the clothes didn't synch well with the body beneath, causing the arms to clip out of the clothes for example. At the time I figured I'd just get rid of them. I've since re-downloaded the original .FLA for work on the next project.
I'd suggest you work on PlayShapes' new incomplete games. My fave was Bowser's Castle.
So tell us- what are your plans for this engine?
Well, here's a little preview of what I've got up my sleeve. As you can see, Playshapes new work really helped with some of the designs.
