Despair Labyrinth (RPG) Latest Release: Ver.0.09 (4/18/12)

Hello all, I've lurked the forums for a long while now but finally decided to make an account after working on my own RPG Maker VX game.

It's called...
"Despair Labyrinth: Ransom of Elynsor".
The premise is that a kingdom has had its princess kidnapped by a prominent guild of bandits known for their involvement in the sex trade. With her life, among other things, at stake, the crown puts up a 100 million gold reward to the first adventurer who successfully brings her back safely.
This game has multiple characters (with the potential for more), and you basically start off able to select a female adventurer of several choices, each with their own ambitions and desires. Your quest is to fight your way through the Despair Labyrinth and find the Princess, and then bring her out safely. Basically, it's Game Over Rape with a lot of forced sex and eventual bondage, group, etc.
In a way, it's not completely unlike the 'spirit' of The Legend of Krystal, if only as far as fetishes go, minus the furry so far.

Keep in mind this is a relatively early form of the game; having pretty much little to no experience with RPGVX, I've only put a little bit of time into it thus far but will continue to work on it.

Attached are some sample screenshots of the gameplay.

Again, if you do not have RPG Maker VX, you can at least download the RTP, or run-time package which should allow you to play the game here:

What's new in 0.09 (Updated April 18, 2012):
Patch 0.09:
~Added 'speed text' function: Hold 'down' on the arrow keys to quick-skip through text; it will stop at the next available choice when used on cutscenes or H-scenes.
~Added "Load" feature: You can now load a saved game from the character menu.
~Several new areas: Guest Rooms, Division Library, Rogues' Division Officers' Lounge (with side rooms), Treasure Room (Cesca exclusive), and several hallways
~Wealth of information from books in the small library, located at the east hallway of the lounge, and books in the larger library to the far north. Consider this introductory lore for the world of Despair Labyrinth.
~Added several cutscenes:
-Unique Thyme/Irine interactions. If playing as Thyme, you will encounter Irine in the 'rest area' located north of the Syndicate Officers' Lounge. If playing as Irine, you will encounter Thyme in the Division Library.
-Unique Thyme flashback and background; automatically triggered after walking further into the Division Library
~Exclusive action / puzzle mini-game for Cesca with item reward, located in the new area after the Officers' Lounge
~Exclusive fetch quest / dating-game for Lanie with H-scene reward; located in the first Syndicate Bar.

7 new H-scenes total!
~Added 2 'generic' H-scenes:
-Talk to the NPC at the northeast corner of the Officers' Lounge. Low Purity (< 50) required.
-Talk to the wine bottle sitting on the counter of the bar in the Barracks (old room with all the sleeping bandits). Low Purity (< 50) required.
~Added 5 character-specific H-scenes:
-Cesca, by losing to enemies in the treasure room
-Lanie, by 'winning' at the end of the quest
-Irine, by default after entering the Guest Rooms
-Thyme, by default after walking into the Division Library
-Asella, by defeating Rhiannon in their encounter cutscene while having low Purity and the Dominatrix Outfit in your inventory

Also fixed some combat stuff:
-Updated Charming Wink to affect two random enemies instead of all of them
-Deadly Venom now counts as a Physical Attack.
-Concentrate now doubles Spirit for the next several rounds instead of one
-Gave Pierce and Bash their proper elements (Piercing and Blow, respectively)
-Nerfed Quadra Curse to have a 75% chance to end after 3 turns--it's real nasty, even then
-Divine Barrier now has a 90% chance to end after 4 turns
-Updated the descriptions on some items and skills

Updated last patch:
-Added 'light' indicators to passages without doors and at the ends of hallways, for an easier time navigating
-'Handheld Mirror' item added, which allows you to check your Purity when used from the menu.
(To acquire it, go to the bedroom right beneath Xanrud's torture room in the east part of the Chambers, and open the small red box next to the bed)
-Gallery Mode added; can be accessed via the Title screen menu. Unfortunately, your existing saves will not work to show the scenes that you've already seen; this requires a completely new game / save file as I had to install switches within each H-scene, which need to be hit in order to unlock them in the gallery mode. Game Over H-scenes are also included without you needing to save afterwards--simply seeing a scene will unlock it in the case for these particular events.
-The Chambers have been divided into two parts, East and West, to reduce lag.
-4 new maps added
-1 new enemy type and 1 miniboss added
-3 new cutscenes (non-H) added
7 new H-scenes in all (of which have far more CG's than those from previous patches);
-4 character-specific H-scenes; Emilia, Rhiannon, Asella and Sairyn
-3 generic H-scenes
-CG OVERHAUL! These were only for the low-res images (which is most of them up to the Wolfram cutscene). I've redone the images for the starting bandit (both scenes), slime, maid, dominatrix (first scene), plant monster, vine-laced abomination, gargoyle, guard pikeman, twins (first scene), and sailors. No more ridiculous pixelation, plus some images made a bit better.
-Added another image to the first Twins scene when you tell them to cum inside.
-Added 'special' images to the first Twins scene for Rhiannon, Emilia and Asella. Emilia's occurs when you choose to finish them by hand, Asella's can be seen when you choose to have them cum inside, and Rhiannon's happens beforehand regardless of choice made. These are small attempts to further 'individualize' each girl's experiences.
-Added small conditional branches involving Gwyn to the gargoyle scene and the brawler foursome scene. Right now it's just an extra CG and a brief description; consider this a placeholder for future updates.

"Help! I don't know what RPG Maker VX is, I don't know what an RTP is, I just wanna play the damn game! Fuckin' magnets, how do they work?!"
Alright, well luckily for you, I packaged a version of the game with the RTP data included, so you can simply unzip it, run the self-extracting .exe, and double-click the game icon to get started. The only drawback to this is that the game file is a tad larger.
Download-link (RTP Included):
TO BE RE-UPLOADED...

Any comments, feedback, etc. would be appreciated. Feel free to let me know what you think!

Played through it with a couple characters. Looks very nice.
Rhiannons basic attack is pretty wack (not that I mind) and I was pretty surprised at the other characters dealing, like, no damage at all (Rhiannon was my first pick, hence my surprise).

Virgin-guesses:
Paladin, Cleric, Lanniel, Cesca

About the sex-scenes, how many are there overall?

- Losing against the first guard
- Losing against him again
- The maid
- Losing agaisnt a gargoyle
- Seducing the spear guard
- Probably losing against him too. Haven't tried yet.

What about the sleeping guard? Can you do more than kill him or leave him be?

I hope to see future updates of this.

So Emilia is a fencer walking around plate armor... ya thats very fencing like.
Also duel wielding in fencing is not just stupid but fatal besides depending on the type swords it's impossible.
Fencing is design for balance, speed, defense, and Target Size

Balance: So first thing you do as a fencer your feet are at a right angle. In this position your going to have a hard time pushing the person over. When ever you do a move your keeping this basic position more or less. The only move you don't is a flesh and thats where your running at the person so i don't think it counts.

Speed: You need to react the reaction of another reaction of another reaction.

Defense: Your not going to get a epic light saber battle in fencing. Defense is all about controlling the distances or the blades.

Target Size: The object is to lower your target size so you don't get hit. How your feet placed it makes it so your right hand is in front so the only things that are going to get hit are your head, shoulder, leg, foot, but not your non weapon hand. This cuts down your target by more than 50% but keeps your non weapon hand out of reach, if you duel wield you lose the advantage of balance, speed and target size. Likely also defense but it really depends the person.

You're off to an awesome start!

Points to you if every battle can have a sexual outcome in the completed game.

Haha, that might actually just be my failure in finding a synonym for swordsman. Emilia doesn't ACTUALLY fence, as in what someone would do with a rapier / epee / foil or whatever it is. I usually read some Japanese H-sites and their machine translated stuff often ends up as 'fencer', as well as in manga (i.e. Brave Fencer Musashiden isn't actually a European-style 'fencer' per se...) If it bothers you so much, I will change that one word in her intro, and problem solved--voila.

Thanks!
I'm actually planning to make a catch-all outcome for certain enemies, because I'd like a good variety of foes to fight so that it's not Bandit A, Bandit B, Bandit C, Bandit D, Bandit E, for the entire game or something monotonous like that. However, these enemies will have a certain tagline in their name (such as 'Veteran' or 'Slaver') so that you know not to lose to them if you want to see a fresh new H-scene, many of which I will definitely implement.

(KaTsuO_O - I took your two posts and put them in to one)

Blue what you wrote is really true only in reference to modern, highly refined, sport or Olympic fencing. It is not true of combative round fencing as practiced groups like the SCA and other re-enactors, and it is certainly not true of the originating martial skills with a sharp piece of metal. Also why would you assume that fencing (which refers to a sport form of sword fighting) in a fantasy universe conforms to modern fencing in any way?

Very much like the concept. Kudos as well for making so many character options, that's quite the task you've created for yourself but I like what it'll mean for the end product.

yeah, fencer isn't the right thing. You should call Emilia a weapon master or something like that.
Also i think the enemies are pretty good. The only thing which bothered me was that with the witch most of them could two hit me. For rpgs i prefer many easy mobs that are killed fast and bosses should be hard. Atleast if you meet an enemie every five meter.
I also didn't got the spear when i killed the spearmen but i got it when i lost. The seduce option with the witch and the spearmen is not there if you killed all enemies before. When i was raped by a gargoyle it was avalaible. i don't know if this is a bug.

Don't worry guys, Emilia has already been updated in my version; I only had to change her intro. If you look at the game's database, she's actually technically a 'Warrior' in terms of class.
Overall, there are only about 5 scenes thus far, I guess 6 if you count the whole guard pikeman thing. Losing to the pikeman and seducing him provide only slightly different outcomes, with you viewing an additional picture if you seduce him.

In terms of being able to seduce the pikeman or not, it's not a bug, although the exact amount of purity I want each act to drop you by is not yet final. Engaging in sexual acts drops your purity score. In short, you can only seduce the guard if your 'purity score' is low enough. In future releases you will be able to check this, but not at this time.

If you outright kill the spearman by battling him, you won't gain a spear (although I gave the game a chance of giving you an even better spear, a Cavalry Lance, if you did defeat him in combat). You will gain an Infantry Spear, I believe, by getting forced by him or seducing him, by logic that you had that in your hands when you killed him. Not that anything in this game is logical, I was really just testing the whole adding-items thing and decided to keep it.

The first bandit's attack score is like, 50. Originally I had it at 10, but it just took WAY too long for him to defeat you if you were trying to lose in purpose, which I would imagine can be somewhat frustrating. He is definitely difficult for a first opponent and in the next version I'll look to tone that down a bit. I personally feel that as of 0.02, Cesca probably has the hardest time against him (and I raised her ATK correspondingly for the next release). The mage/sages' fire spells go off of the default Fire formula in RPGVX, so I will need to adjust those properly as well. I really appreciate the combat feedback though, since every bit helps for balancing. What I might end up doing is keeping the current enemies' stats and boosting all of the characters' HP slightly, whichever works best.

As far as the sleeping guard goes, he was more or less a 'Self Switch' test for me. You basically kill him or you don't, and if you do kill him, he's gone forever. Irine will not kill him (and I originally planned to do the same with Sairyn, but I really just wanted to see her Guillotine Fist his ass, lol). Although this game might look developed on the surface for some, I pretty much just started learning how to use RPG Maker VX about three days ago, so I'm still learning the mechanics of how to make the game do what I want it to do, lol.

I've done Irine and Thyme. Poor Irine... no damage at all from hand to hand, and heals aren't too great when you've got to sacrifice a turn for one in a fight. Plus, her damage magic's not as good as the other mages'. I'm not sure HOW you're going to balance her, short of giving her better armor.

There's other RPG maker games on this forum, so don't worry about that. Besides, I like the RPG maker games quite a bit; they tend to have depth, beauty and sophistication to them. I've played about three-four RPG maker games... don't think I've hated a single one yet (Though one's annoying because I think I have to level grind to get to the next part of the game now. xD).

Downloading it now to try it out; you'll hear from me sometime soon, either in another post if someone else responds, or in an edit of this one. Just let me say again, any RPG maker game gets me exited...

Just gave the demo a run through. Pretty good so far and I'm impressed with the writing. The premise while a bit cliche is presented quite well. I did however spot a typo in the beginning. "inorder" Also a small little critique with the table and chairs. Are the table and chairs one tile set or are they separate? I only ask because there is a clipping issue with it. The way to fix this is to make the table an impassable tile while leaving the chairs as passable. If it's a single tile however this may not be possible. Let's see there was something else...oh yeah, it concerns your hallways. You may want to place switches at the top and bottom of the openings or add walls and a door. While there is nothing wrong with having to remain in the middle of the floor, by allowing the player to just progress to the next screen at the top or bottom as well as the center will help with immersion. You could also add stairs to match the sound effect.
Just my two cents.

Overall a pretty good start with a lot of potential.

For the people who are having trouble running it, you need to download the RPG Maker VX RTP; don't worry, it's a safe download and not a very big one at that. Plus, once you have it DL'd, you can play pretty much every other RPG Maker VX hentai game out there.

http://www.rpgmakerweb.com/download/run-time-package

Samus - Not sure exactly what is going on with that. Are you using WinRAR? That's the decompressor of choice for unzipping .rar files.
However, I uploaded the game's naturally compressed form (which is how it comes) to Megaupload at this link:
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=HADQ4J2F

The bug involved with the error when you choose 'Shutdown' is noted and fixed for the next version. It was basically just a result of me trying to find scripts to change the screen resolution. As far as Irine goes, yeah, likely I will have to either adjust her damage spell or something like that.

The table and chairs are separate. There is a bug in 0.02 that makes the table passable, and it was a result of me accidentally clicking on it when the passage settings were enabled (gah), so it was a really easy fix. Chairs are naturally passable with tables impassable but I unwittingly made the table a 'star', which means it's passable but takes priority over your character in terms of layering.

Stairs is a good idea, thanks. As I may have mentioned before, I just started using RPG Maker VX so if you have any experience with it (like how to 'stretch' an event's area-of-effect zone over several tiles, for example), that would be GREATLY appreciated!

KITAmaru Wrote:Bugs spotted so far:

-Round wooden tables have wrong passage value which cause you to pass through (or behind) them

That was unnecessary on many levels.
On another note, will Rhiannon stay as strong as she is? You hit for well over 100 with the basic weapon the game gives you, she's got lots of HP, a decent armor and high AGI (from what I can judge so far). I don't know what you have planned for future updates (considering this I'm thinking opponents that get reduced melee damage and higher magic damage, that sorta thing). I also think being able to dualwield would be more fitting for a Berserker than carrying a shield.
