Professional AS3 developer, interested in LoK

Discussion about Legend of Krystal. For now this also includes any feature-requests or other ideas.

Hey man. I'm not a part of either team but I can give you the downlow on some of the basic things.

This project has been going on for quite some time. Renara, the owner of the forums and I BELIEVE founder of the project, tends to work somewhat slowly. Lately, it has become more than a little annoying to the other team members. Renara doesn't like to reveal his code, and has not provided an update on his progress for months now, though he has been promising it. As it stands, one group "Area 52" has split from the main LoK project and is doing things on their own, while Renara continues to work on his version. "Trunks" has become the figurehead of the new group. They post both in the Area 52 section of the forums, at least for "official" updates.

V.3 orginally had the goal of cleaning up the coding from V.2, as well as swapping to AS3, beyond that I don't know much about what is being used, ect. I believe Area 52 is currently using AS2, but would like to have someone who knows AS3 onboard
Does bunny need to slap a bitch?!

Due to my utter inability to produce anything of merit via drawing, animating, or scripting, I have to hang around and bother you guys. Are we having fun yet?

Thanks NeerHeer, maybe Area 52 seems like the go. Anyway if anyone on either team could help me out here, that would be great.

Welcome to the boards *hands varkson a Krystal plushie and a cookie*. NeerHeer pretty much nailed it in one.

The original coder of the whole Legend of Krystal (LoK), Mario is Missing(MiM) and Bowser's Castle (BC) is playshapes who is a self taught programmer/artist. He wanted to make super ambitious projects and for the most part succeeded but whenever his short attention span got the better of him he would stop working but would release all his files as open source programs to the public. I am no professional programmer myself, but it seems to me the most common complaint is the "untidyness" of his coding that turns most people off.

Renara is the forum administrator, leader of the project, and programmer. It is not our place to speculate, or to criticize what may have happened between the different members of the original team, especially for those of us who don't see the full picture. Needless to say he is the head programmer of the "true" Legend of Krystal, the original man heading up the forums and the project.

As for what he intends with the game, I am not sure in terms of the technical aspect. So your best bet would be to get into contact with him for direction. However he seems to have programming down, but it never hurts to ask.

The other major players is the "Area_52" team, whom split off from the main team.
This consists of;
Trunks: Script Writer memberlist.php?mode=viewprofile&u=73
Ron Pepper Concept Artist and Background Artist memberlist.php?mode=viewprofile&u=2892
Katsu: Model maker, and aspiring programner memberlist.php?mode=viewprofile&u=1793

Forgot to add Ebonizza: he is a pretty chill guy that gives great feedback.
memberlist.php?mode=viewprofile&u=80

This team has a plot, an animator, a model creator, and a background artist, and Katsu is currently learning to program. However I am sure they would welcome a professional programmer. Either way the best option once again is to pm them, or to wait until they come and respond here.

Either way good luck, and look forward to what you bring.

Thank you Thaedael. I will treasure my Krystal plushie always :). I'll keep your info in mind, thank you. Also, is there a certain number of posts before we don't have to go through moderation?

In terms of what Renara is planning, the reason the team waited so long for him in the first place was because he had some VERY big ideas. He wanted it to not only be fantastic, but easy to mod and build on.

It takes ten posts before your comments are no longer moderated. So until then be patient ^^;;.

Well that's 7 to go then :).
If a good content creation system is implemented into LoK, I could see it really taking off in the community. I just launched a site I've been working on for the last 3 months today, so I should have a bit of free time on my hands. I think I am going to like it here. Thanks guys.

Thaedael almost had it but the Area 52 team is actually four. As we can all count to four, Ebonizza seems conspicuously absent. What gives?

Trunks: Writer
Ebonizza: Quality Assurance
Katsu: Models/Programming
RP: Backgrounds / Figure drawings

And like Thae said, we would appreciate a programmer and could probably hit this up in AS3 at this point if we wanted to.

Thaedael you think that ebonizza isnt doing anything?! He is like Rp said a quality assurance and he does also direct me when i am working on costumes and animations so he is to very much help for this project, more than you can image. without him i would never been able working as hard as i have these weeks, he is pushing me forward making me want to work.

It depends on how good you know as3 and if you can teach someone in a good way, i cant really work on animations and stuff if i cant code so it depends but if you want to help ren then i have nothing to say...

I'm still waiting on Ren to come over here an answer the questions that were directed at him, himself.

As I said in the other thread, I'm kinda noobish but happy to help programming, especially after I finish my current project. I think really it's gonna have to be AS3 if you want it to last. AS2 is fast becoming outdated and obsolete, and AS3 is 5-10 times as powerful :)
