Oh, I know that. I'm just reaching for a reference no one on this site is ever going to get.

interesting, signatures seem to be retroactively applied to posts 11+ but not to any post before that.

Yeah, some features don't quite work for newly registered people, so you need the posts to get them unlock... and I forgot to add that to my thing.

i have a very noobish question, how dose one rp? ^^u
i looked at the threads for it and it looks like fun but i have never rped before and literally know nothing about it. is there some resource that you guys can recommend where i can read up on how to do it and the rules and such?

Well, each RP has it's own rules as stated in it's associated OOC thread. Most of them are pretty loose on the rules as they only exist to facilitate a way to decide the outcomes of encounters. The only ones that have more difficult rules are the few RP's on the site based on Dungeons & Dragons and Pathfinder. The main rules to remember with most RP's are 1) ask to join before posting, and 2) don't be a jerk. xD
I would think that this site itself is a good resource for learning how to RP, and if you just read through a few of the roleplay threads you'll pick up the important stuff. I don't want to sound like I'm pushing websites, but I learned to roleplay on the forums at gaia online, though do remember to keep things PG if you choose to participate there instead of just reading (unlike here where you can literally do anything that's not antagonistic or explicitly illegal). At it's core, roleplaying is kind of like creating a free-flowing story where each writer is in charge of one character that they create to add to the game world.

Pretty much. A good idea to get a hand of RPing is doing a 1x1 RP with someone, which is basically a faster game and more personal, since it's just you and the GM, telling a story while you play along with the game. Although I do recommend on looking at being the player instead of being the GM, just for convenience sake and also look at who's doing the GMing. There are some really good storytellers, and then there are... well, those who primary focus on the sex and not expanding the world or character.

Yes, this is true.
I've role played in the past. I would suggest that you don't try to do "freeform" role playing. It's very difficult to get right if you're new to role playing, and it can be very helpful to have a GM there to lead you through roleplaying.
I would suggest you ask for a GM who's willing to teach, as you'll probably have to do some learning. Role playing is both natural and very complex so it might come easy to you or it might be very hard.

I'm in the same situation as the OP. Or maybe not, once this post is approved.

Hi
heheh I am new too, but I forgot to post a hello. I am curious about the rp as well. Having done it mostly with one person many times and a few times with others I wasn't sure about how to go about joining either. Seems simple enough though. I've always thought the fun part was trying to feel out what the other person wants as well. So I might try it out too.
