What's the longest/most successful RP you've been a part of?

LARPs, Tabletops, online RP (group or 1v1) all count for the purposes of the question.

I've been a part of a monthly Larp (as a single character... not going to count my bout with alt-itis) for 2 years and I've had a table top running bi-weekly during summers since 2011.

Curious to see what you folks have under your belts.

I was part of an expansive, six-part (we posted like maniacs for most of the year and admittedly it could have been way more compact) roleplay which took about three years (late 2005 to late 2008) to complete. It guided me through the embryonic stage of my roleplaying and stimulated my taste for epic fantasy.

As writing and a sensible story itwas obviously a piece of shit, but that's what you get from someone of that age.

Currently, I'm carving out the final segment of a trilogy thread I've been part of since early 2012. There's really only been one or two monthish-long spaces in my 9-year roleplaying history (once in late-2009 and one in mid-2010) where I haven't been part of an established, long-term story, but the pace of my roleplaying has declined significantly since 2009 as my writing skill and perfectionist tendencies have evolved.

Ive been in very long dating esque rps with action and horror. Probably the longest was maybe two days in the time we spent on it that took a few weeks. My longest sex rp took 5 or 6 hours over the phone. That took 2 days.

I was part of a big group one on the gaia forums that lasted for around 2 years after it peeled off from an earlier RP (07-09). It had a bit of everything, big action events, dating, marriage, kiddies, power play relationships, character development. Unfortunately, people started peeling off to take care of life and it slowly fizzled.

Unfortunately, I haven't seen that kind of dedication to a story from a group of roleplayers ever since. It's sad, and honestly kind of frustrating when RP's I'm excited about lose their steam in about 3 weeks, but that seems to be the norm.

well i had a couple that ended since we were both craving short simple roleplays. THey usually lasted for a month before we set up another scene

My longest RP is still going on in another forum. It's been going on for almost 4 years now, and I joined somewhere near the 2nd year.

I ran with the same group of friends through Junior high through college. One of our dads started us in 2ed (AD&D) and we played that through most of high school. When 3E came out, we converted our characters and one of us took up DMing that group of characters (although a few of the originals had died). The last original character died (and we allowed to remain dead at that point) after nearly six years. On and off, though, to be honest. I DM'ed some too.

Online, play-by-post, probably a good thousand replies. Although I find that's tough to beat because people disappear.

I guess my Only War campaign, we did 3, maybe 4 different campaigns in the game itself before they started to fuck up and blame everyone but themselves. Hell, I received a shit-ton of flak because I wanted to execute our sergeant for his stupidity.
