Anyone else having a lot of problems connecting to the site/staying logged in? I keep getting locked out or error messages saying that my connection might be bad, but only for this site.

a good internet rule of thumb: always ctrl+a ctrl+c before posting long posts!

We do indeed seem to be having the 504 issues again, with the thing saying the site is offline for a few minutes before cooperating.

Hey folks, just wanted to let you know I'm aware of the issue, just hope I can find a way to fix it for good this time. I'm also aware of the cookie issue, but at a complete loss as to why it's happening, as I can't get it to happen to me at all; I'll see if I can figure it out when I get a chance.

I recently got a new computer and it's taking longer than I expected to get everything set back up again, which means I'm a bit behind on work. I'll make time though!

Good to know it's not only me ^^(couldn't stay logged in more than a few seconds, at some point, but it's much better now. Probably random, lol)
Thx for the little heads-up !

Okay, I've made some changes to the site's cookies; means everyone will have been logged out (but since that was the problem anyway I guess it doesn't matter ;)), it's keeping me logged in, but like I say, I'm not the one who was having trouble!

Ok, I managed to get back on my account. I think it was just what I was logging in with. Still, it would be helpful to do it.

All I've really done so far was rename the cookies from LoKForum to LoKForums. What browsers are you using?

You can check what cookies you have saved for the site, and which you are therefore using to log-in with, but the method differs for different browsers:
  • Safari (Mac): You need to go into Safari -> Preferences -> Advanced and enable the Develop menu. Then, while viewing a page of the forums, go to Develop -> Show Web Inspector, and you should see an entry on the left for Cookies.
  • Firefox: I believe this under the "View Page Info" item when you right-click on a page of the LoK forums, under the security tab should be a "View Cookies" button.
  • Google Chrome: try this guide (don't delete them if you don't want to, just look to see what's there)
  • Internet Explorer: try this page for the method for various Internet Explorer versions.

Everyone should have cookies named LoKForums_u, LoKForums_sid and LoKForums_k, many of you will also have leftovers with the LoKForum_ prefix instead though this shouldn't matter (but you can delete them if you like). As far as I can see though they're being created correctly, and if you selected to remain logged in then the expiration date should be around a year from the time you signed in.

For those of you having trouble though, it might also be useful to know where you're logging in on the site; are you using the login box at the bottom of the index page, or are you using the login link near the top?

Every time I log in now using IE, I get logged out the instant the page refreshes. Posting this from Mozilla Firefox.

Okay, another possible fix in place, though it meant purging all sessions so everybody will have been logged out again.
Let me know if this resolves the problem for you or not!
