Everytime I download a .swf file adobe reader can't read it and I can't play the game, can somebody help me fix this (do I need to download something?).

The problem is you don't need Adobe Reader. You need Adobe Flash Player to play .swf files. I know that there's a standalone player somewhere out there and someone on the forum knows about it, but usually you can use your web browser so long as Flash is kept up to date.

I believe the adobe flash projector will suit your needs. A simple google search can find the download page: http://www.adobe.com/support/flashplayer/downloads.html, which contains our target, the flash projector.

Note: I haven't had great luck with the projector; it seems to work, but isn't entirely reliable as I've seen.

Windows: http://download.macromedia.com/pub/flashplayer/updaters/11/flashplayer_11_sa.exe

Mac: http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/pub/flashplayer/updaters/11/flashplayer_11_sa.dmg

Linux: http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/pub/flashplayer/updaters/11/flashplayer_11_sa.i386.tar.gz

I use eolsoft Flash movie player.
http://www.eolsoft.com/freeware/flash_movie_player
Though I have found it doesn't like certain features of flash games, like saving and loading.
But yeah I second the use your browser and adobe flash projector
