Lockdown

So this has to be something recently done. Who wants to tell us why 90 percent of the topics are now locked?

If it was to prevent necroing old threads, that's all find and dandy, but anything from december 31st is locked. A month is overkill, it's usually 3 months. This is especially going to be a problem in the project threads where updates can take a while to get made.

Edit: Actually there's a lot of project threads in their subsections on creative corner that aren't even locked down and are well over a month old. So I'm now further confused.

Um.... weren't the locks for topics over a year old... looks like most topics that are over 11 months with no activity are locked. (starting with topics around Jan 30, 2012 )

The ones I locked down were about a year old with people posting "Lol post more" as the last topic 8 months after they were already dead. CC I had nothing to do with however.

Christmas a year ago in general.
Christmas a year ago in RP/OOC (+the ones the author themselves do)
Polls had their topics moved to archives, most were kaly polls that are moved to make way for forum-specific polls.
Bugs are a year old
Creative Discussion a year old
Tutorials are a untouched.

Those are what I did.

I trust Gorepete's judgement 100%. It was becoming a problem when people were whining/complaining/bumping without actually adding anything making others believe the game came back and starting off a whole second wave of whining/complaining/bumping. This way it is a little clearer.

Yeah, I noticed it too. Gore also mentioned that if you want your post unlocked, you should just send him an PM and then he would unlock it for you, so if there was anyone who still was busy with his/her updates, he/she could probably get it unlocked within a couple of minutes/hours. The locks are useful though, I'm not complaining. There were only lurkers in there making useless comments anyway.

I'll be frank, I got this idea for months, but never posted it. I was really getting tired of people reviving old threads for no reason, especially newbies looking to get an easy 10 posts. I am very glad we've seen this happen and that the exact system is used that I was likely going to post eventually anyway. Good job mods!

Well either way, I figured it'd be a good idea to have a thread about this in General, since prior there was just an announcement sort of thread in CC only. I still don't care for seeing things from last month locked but eh, you guys said you'll unlock specific threads if asked by the OP so not much I have to complain about.

All the locked threads in CC are over a year old without comment. The only one that isn't is Corta's, which was locked on a separate occasion for the same cause. The two pages of "new" posts are people complaining every few days about there being no new posts. People necro'ing old shit to reach their ten post limit got old. If the OPs want it unlocked so they can continue it, all they have to do is ask~

But you didn't lock threads in the CC Sub-forums. Any reason for that?
