WHO WANTS TO KNOW HOW TO VISIBLY DIM SCREEN BRIGHTNESS

Ive finally done it, not only is looking at a bright screen at night hurtful its harmful. after so many hours of poking around the control panel ive figured out how to dim your computers lights and not just your monitor. for those of you who already know this, I feel like I should share this knowledge with all the other lost souls out there. Anyone want to know??? With the right calibrations it should be perfect and work for any computer, U know unless it got hit by a truck...

ya, it's easy. hold the fn + the down arrow key.

I realize that is possible. However with most computers. When you are in a low lite area there is hardly any change to the screens brightness.

I wouldn't be posting if most people don't know this.

Lol no im talking about screen brightness. But if you use your computer mostly at night its too bright, were the fn keys dont do enough and you need it dimmer. allot of people are hurting their eyes even with their monitors brightness at 0

Laptops especially suffer from this and if its 11;00 and you are slightly squinting to look at your screen it is way to bright.

This topic confuses me... what other screen brightness is there if not your monitor brightness? Your monitor is what is generating the light. If it is at 0 then the screen is black 0.o

I think what he's saying is that the "monitor brightness" setting doesn't have enough range, and that you can lower the brightness below that range.

I certainly don't need it, as my laptop monitor gets pretty dang dark when I set it to brightness=0.

Exactly... If your not suffering from this problem then good for you but most computers are to bright for night viewing at their default setting. A lot of people fall prey too it so I guess im trying to change that. U no so in 50 years when ur watching porn with your wife sleeping in the next room your not wearing glasses a foot thick to do it
