Scariest movie you've ever seen?

Postby demise23 » Sun Oct 30, 2011 5:08 am

Recently, I saw The Thing. Before you ask, it's the 1982 version, directed by John Carpenter, not the one that just came out. So, I decided to make a forum to discuss horror films. Please say what the scariest one you've seen is, if you'd see another one, and what it would be.

Also, nothing like this, please.

Yes, This is Gorz, the Emissary of Darkness. So what if I play Yu-Gi-Oh? At least I don't smoke, do drugs, drink, or break the law!

There was this movie that i cant remember the name of... the plots kinda confusing. Basically these "Ghost" Things are released by a computer program by some hackers or something. a printer prints out the face of one of the ghosts in several different pieces of paper like a huge puzzle at one point, a guy covers an entire room in red tape that is supposed to hold them off... the "ghosts" Steal peoples "souls" Or something... Umm... Can anyone help me name it?

Nope.

As for the "The thing". I got the HD version of the old one and i was watching and found i loved it. There really isn't much Sci fi now a days that strikes a core with me. Hell not many movies that do. It sad when you go back to old scifi for something ah inspiring.

Anyways "The thing" is one of the few that does. You don't know everything but the characters are using logic to combat this non earth creature and are having to readjust their thinking when something doesn't work.

I love the burn blood test however it's stupid how they did it. touch "The thing" and your dead, also, if any of them were infected cutting each other with the same knife would would infect everyone after (think of this as aids, would you want to be stabbed with the same blade that has HIV blood on it? no didn't think so.)
I'm not sure if it would be possible to do it how i would since i don't know what they had on had. Anyways here's what i'd do.
I would get a container for each sample of blood with a LID and next I would just use the text equipment to boil the container and see which ones were moving on there own.
Even if my idea is better i like the idea that they don't have all the answers .

the chair thing was stupid on their part but i'm not totally sure i picked up on it when i was watching so any suggestions i have i wont make.

This was a gem of a movie and i will be looking for this on disk for sure. I have the feeling the new one is going to butcher it with CG.

Another gem moment is with the space ship. I know that was a painting (I think it was anyways) and it looked great. This was a great movie and i wish people would stop trying to copy them. Make a fanfic or something.

Hmm. I remember watching the original "The Thing" many many years ago. I remember watching "The Stuff" too, but that wasn't nearly as scary - basically about sentient yogurt that tries to take over the world. Seen two of the Hellraiser films - they weere prety scary. But, I tend to avoid horror films, so can't say I've seen anything recent. In fact, I believe the most 'recent' horror film I've seen was Blair Witch project. And that wasn't so much scary as... sad
One way, or another, I'm going to find you, I'll get you, I'll get you!

You are thinking of Pulse. Its where they accidentally discover a frequency that allows the dead to re-enter our world and they eat people's life or something so they become all depressed and commit suicide or rot to death from the corruption of being in contact with the dead. The red tape is like the right thickness and shade to block the frequency or something, so the one guy covers his entire apartment in it. There is like a computer somewhere that is transmitting the signal and they try to destroy it, I think? If I remember right, it ends with the main characters fleeing to the middle or nowhere because anyone within range of a cellular or wireless network is killed.

I think the only movie that really scared me was the original Exorcist because I was like 10 when I saw it

You mean Metroid?

Haha. Did you know the "Alien" Series was the direct inspiration of the Metroid series?

Nothing scares me!...eh.. well i have one movie.. it might be maybe scenes from certain movies that freak me OUT
1.Halloween: when the woman in the bed messes with the microchip and it goes off melting her face (OMG)
2.THE THING: When they try to see whats wrong with the guys stomach, then he eats someone's hand off, swallows him whole and then his head turns into a spider (HOLY SH*T)
3.THE CAVE: the first creepy mutated miner encounter (pretty scary)
4.Zombieland: nothing scary..i just LOVE The movie period
5.THE ORIGINAL EXORCIST: When her head spins around.. (i dropped out of my seat laughing/crying/terrified)

thats about it..
A Wise man once said "Purity is sought within your inner soul and deep conciensce of the mind!"
One day i looked upon him for truth
he told me, "if you want truth, seek the internet"
till this day, he's a D***

There's another reason why I started this forum. See, I saw that someone else had created this forum: http://legendofkrystal.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=1727. I've nothing against it. But I figured that I might as well decide to create a forum in a bit of a response to that forum. That, and I had just seen "The Thing".

Well I rented Pulse one and two. Pulse one was as amazing as i remembered. But Pulse two FUCKING SUCKED. The ghosts looked NOTHING like in one. It wasn't even close to scary. It had just plain retarded moments, like when the old lady ghost ate the old guys... Uh... Soul? It was some kind of glowing goop she pulled out of his mouth. Anyway the ghosts looked so fucking cheesy!!! Only three people got their lives eaten. Only a few of the ghosts where even seen... And who te fuck was that guy in red? Why did he need that hard drive from the warehouse place... My god that movie was a mess. I could say more but just watch for you're self.

I always suggest this when talking about horror movies: Audition.

It's a Japanese horror/suspense, heavy on the suspense, it's VERY slow so you have to really be interested in it, but it's worth it, it's a great movie.

The premise is about a middle aged movie producer who was widowed, years after his wife died, his best friend and his no grown up son want him to move on and find another woman, after a lot of convincing the man and his friend hold an audition for a movie that doesn't truly exist. They use this fake audition so they can get information on women for the man to consider dating.

It's awesome, and it really gets under your skin.

For some odd reason, I couldn't help but think of "A Serbian Film" when reading your description of "Audition".

i usually don't watch scary movies, but i guess ''mirrors'' is one
I often find myself thinking that most people are utter shite. I try to be positive and prove myself wrong. So far I've yet to succeed in doing so.
On the otherhand: I know a few of the actually great people out there and that makes me happy enough.

A serbian Film....
well.....
I found it hilarious, but then i am a sick fuck, its about a retired porn star who gets offered one last job by a director for a big payout and then discovers that the director wants to make a sort of snuff/porno, i dont really want to explain any more without giving away the plot but its not scary at all, just grusome.
Also newborn porn.
nuff said really.

Not really seen many horror films that scare me, I'm more into Saw/Hostel style gorefests. Cannibal Holocaust it pretty freaking awsome if any of yous have seen it

Hmm I don`t watch scary movies much becuase I end up scaring the piss out of myself when I fall asleep xD but when I do its usually cheesy zombie flicks lol I found Quarantine to be one of the scariest movies I`ve ever seen just becuase the camera makes it seem all the more real and scary. Plus half of the scares were pretty unexpected.
