Im in a programming class learning VB.NET. Basic shit. But, can any real programmers give a "newbie" some tips/info? I've already written my first program. I have screen shots if i need to post them to see.

my tip, subroutines are easier than full new routines, and always use a spell check when writing important code, when you have 12000 lines, its pretty damn hard to figure out what you misspelled
Comment //My dad is sorta pissed at a company his company outsourced to because they converted a program with out leaving any comments so it's near impossible to update it.
If you have to do something 2 or more times than you will likely should be using a object oriented practice.
Try to keep if staments low but some times you need them.
If your running in to a lot of simple if statements like (if I < 10) simple in a row, change it to case statements. perfect expample would be in a game picking the size of the resolution.
THE API IS YOUR FRIEND!!!... I think i can get that bigger?
Preplan everything and write comments for the preplaned objects.
