Anyone know where to get good artwork for character avatars for RPing? Female ones are easy enough to find, but (good) male ones are more difficult, and when you want the image to fit a specific template (say, in military uniform) AND be male, it is downright impossible. Any suggestions?

Try out DeviantArt. It's were I get all my characters from. I also made this map for any space RP.

Just scroll through that and maybe you'll find a good one, otherwise just check DeviantArt, there's a lot of good stuff on that.

These are some of the examples on there:

I'll give it a go, thanks. Don't know why I didn't think of DeviantArt. Turns out the main website for sci-fi RP avatars is a startrek one that takes these horribly awkward photos of real people; that's been my main obstacle so far, heh heh.

Edit: Had quite a bit of trouble finding avatars on Deviantart. It seems mostly to be subjects with more than one person, and the single characters are not to my taste (at the moment looking for a Star Trek -esque style, sterile Captain character. Any specific suggestions?

If you like, Zed I can create avatars for you when it comes to Role-Playing. A lot of characters I use in fact have been created by me in some way. As for doing it yourself? DeviantArt is a good place, like Vhexo suggested.

http://gelbooru.com/ is also a great place to look around, very popular too.

E621 is a gelbooru-like website with both NSFW and SFW art, and quite diverse in content. I use it pretty often, actually!
Common Character: Hunter [x]. If we're in an RP/want to discuss an RP, I have a discord for casual contact. PM me about it.

Discovered Gelbooru recently. It's certainly been them most useful. Maybe I should just look harder - bound to be something. Thanks for the tips.

There's also https://danbooru.donmai.us/.

It's practically the same as gelbooru, but sometimes has pics, that gelbooru doesn't and vice versa.

My personal experience has been the opposite. Granted this was a non-sexy roleplay and I was looking for a mage girl in a non-revealing robe, maybe with a book.
