Anyone know any good MMORPGs? Preferably non-downloadable ones. Any genre is fine.

Runescape was the stuff back then, especially when it wasn't 3D and you had to insert a code to sleep.
But a good mmorpg is Allods.

requiem can be played in the browser now ^^, though i stop playing it last year

-battlestar galactica online
I often find myself thinking that most people are utter shite. I try to be positive and prove myself wrong. So far I've yet to succeed in doing so.
On the otherhand: I know a few of the actually great people out there and that makes me happy enough.

I agree definitely with Dead Frontier and Battlestar, but i would add Mabinogi, and maybe Perfect world. good time wasters.

Battle star, dead frontier, one of the thousand MMORTS clones out there like evony, greepolis, ect. (if that's your thing).

Sword girls is an interesting anime trading card game and botters are minimal there due to the way they swapped out a market for a nice crafting system. just have to get used to playing the odds because the cards have a mind of their own, literally.

Facebook has a few hundred "something-ville" clones that aren't too bad.

If you change your mind about the download, Startrek Online isn't bad if a little buggy and DnD online is free to play.

Battle for Wesnoth is very good but it's more of a Open-Source freeware game with a fairly active online community. Best tactical strategy game with amazing storylines I've played in a while though.

I used to play wesnoth, but as i NEVER wanted to loose a char, some parts progressed sloooowly. at one point i hade 1 char, with 1 hp, vs 9 enemies all with 100% hp. BUT I MADE IT

I'm guessing you either ran like hell or camped on a town for 10 hp a turn right? Or you could have just kept doing turn restarts until the turn went your way. or a mountain top clutch. or... you know what? to many strats to guess.

hey, i dont know if youll read this, but there is a neat game on armorgames, its a browser based mmo, where you are a survivor and you basically build a base to survive the zombie apocolypse...you have to go out on missions and make your survivors scavenge buildings, so you can find tools weapons, food, and all the other things you need to survive...i really enjoy the game, so i just thought id let you know...its called like final stand union city or something

I was going to recommend a game I used to play all the time growing up, but I do not know how I feel about it after playing 10 games to get some screenshots for you. A lot of the players are arrogant, one of them was getting on my case because I didn't say "Hi" and that I was arrogant and the like because of it. Sigh, anyway here is my mini review of a game I used to play growing up, and I think you will enjoy it.

So here is the basic overview. Have you ever played any of the turn based tactics games, such as Final Fantasy Tactics? Well Tactics Arena Online [TAO] is a game similar to that in many regards. There are 4 servers you can play on, 2 of which are typical non-premium players, 1 which is where premiums and non-premiums tangle it up, and 1 which is for premiums only. Premiums enjoy many benefits, like premium only units and their account not getting wiped once a month.

So that being said, let's look at the game from a non premium user's perspective. After creating an account (As simple as opening the browser based game and imputing a user name with a password) you are greeted wit this screen;

TAO1.png

Clicking on your avatar, you get transported to the formations page. Here you can dictate which of the units you will use (and if you are in a game when a "drop happens" the winner of the game get's that extra unit). So you can change your avatar, color, unit compositions, and their placement on the board.

TAO2.png

From there you can place your avatar on a free board, and a player will fight you.

TAO3.png

In my case, after years of not playing, I got matched up against a "good" player by statwise, though it looks like he was a sandbagger so it doesn't count. I was going to win but he had some lucky defense that saved him, so I gave it to him. Didn't help he whined every ten seconds so I didn't feel like playing him

That's TAO in a nutshell.
