Hi. I've lurked a while and I'm relatively new here, and would just like to get a feel for the forums. People seem intelligent and nice enough to have decent conversations with, and I believe I can get along with most people here. So if I could just get feedback from some of you, I'd appreciate it!
I'll go ahead and list some of the things I'm into. Why don't you share your opinions?
As far as music goes, the majority of what I like is rock and techno. Concerning rock, anything of high quality from the 60's until now works. I have equal love for the deep, mind-blowing chords of Pink Floyd to the melodic, almost symphonic Norwegian black metal band known as Amon Amarth. It's all good. About techno, I like the Japanese style because it puts you in a sort of high-speed euphoria, full of energy.
I absolutely love gaming. I have hundreds of games in my house, some material, some being my old favorites stocked up on my PC through emulators. I especially like RPGs and shooters. Mario 64 (not the DS version, the original) has always been one of my favorite games. I even have four N64s; one clear purple, one clear silver, one clear gold, and the Mario 64 red edition. I also have a clear purple controller, a clear silver, the Mario red, and the Pikachu yellow. I always find at least an hour a day to play through my games, even though I have so many of them. Sometimes it takes me a few months before I think of playing certain games, just because I get caught up in others. I also enjoy indie games like Minecraft and Terraria. The most interesting fact is, to this day, I've won a total of $8200 in gaming tournaments, my most recent being a regional Halo 3 competition for $2500. I guess you could say I'm somewhat of a fanatic, anyways, moving on.
As far as television goes, one of the only decent shows I've found in America is That 70's Show. I like it because of its satire, and the fact that it's generally the only funny sitcom ever made. But most of the TV I watch is found online, on my favorite anime sites. There are over a hundred anime I've watched or am watching and I can easily say I'm the biggest otaku in my county (but I do have a life, mind you).
As far as books go, Stephen King, Tolkien, dragon bestiary/lore and manga are about all that work for me. I found the Warriors books (with the sentient feral cats and such) to be pretty interesting, but the series never really got off the ground and after the storyline "finished" I felt a little disappointed. Although I sometimes borrow one from my friend to thumb through.
I'm highly fascinated with the supernatural. From the German descendent master of shadows Slenderman to the ancient Pagan elder god Cthulhu, I always enjoy a good spirit, cryptid, or strange being. I'm especially intrigued with Slendy at the moment, having had my own sighting a month ago and having nothing develop from it. Maybe he senses something different about me? Who knows?
I'm going to break down a wall here, hoping everyone is as open-minded as I am. I'm not religious. I'm not an Atheist, I'm not a cultist, I just simply never saw a reason to worship such a vain, arrogant concept (an all powerful lord who creates one planet with life, only to deem a single race of his own slaves worthy of being in his image? Yeah. Right.) while my life sucked so much ass. (parents divorced at 13, mother Buddhist and mostly French, I get that from her. Got made fun of to all hell in middle school and freshman year.)
Random tidbit, I'm a brony. Just going to throw that out in the open while I'm ahead.
I feel like this is TMI, but I might as well get out as much as I can. Neurological stuff I've been diagnosed with; insomnia (trouble getting to sleep or waking up) common stage one migraines (happened a lot when I was younger, but I never get them anymore. Just chest pains and stuff like that, normal stuff), mild psychosis (although I somewhat disagree with this one, I do see where the guy came from when he slapped this label on me. I have a bit of an eccentric personality. tl;dr I'm insane but I'm not going to eat you.)
I think enough pages of this open book have spilled onto this forum. Sorry about the giant wall o' text. And sorry if this is somewhere it shouldn't be. I didn't see a subtopic set up for these specific threads, but if there is one, feel free to move it there. By the time I've just finished registering and typing all this out, it's 3:50 AM or so where I live. After I open this thread, I'm just going to play some Pearl Jam and try to get some sleep. Right now I'm running on a 24 oz Coke cup (like in restaurants and stuff, ya know? You can get them for free easily... I've got 12 or 13 of them) of ice cream and one of those new peppermint coffees from McDonald's. I think those things are amazing. Anywho, good night and see you tomorrow.
