Having complete tending to your crops, you pause and look over to El Paso, the ravenous bug monsters still crawling around the roads. You can't decide whether or not your eviction was lucky or not. On one hand you managed to dodge the onslaught of bugs that cleaned out that city... but on the other hand you're stuck on top of a hotel for the rest of your life with no one to talk to... Well you do have glowy wispy thing but it doesn't talk back. Luckily you managed to hook up some TV. Apparently someone somewhere managed to get a TV station back online and is rerunning shows on repeat so you got something at least. And thank god for those solar panels you managed to scavenge before the streets became overrun. Still, looking out to the gathering clouds, it wasn't all good news. If anything, after the return of magic, the Texan storms have only gotten worse. Hoping that it won't blow anything away this time, as you have no way to replace it, you go inside for shelter.
The storm arrives with rolling thunder in the distance. As it approaches you see increasing flashes within the clouds, to the point where a flash overlaps with the next. And with the overlapping thunder, you can't help but think of rolling barrages in war movies illuminating the horizon. The wind is really picking up now and you hear the creaking and groaning of the objects subjected to it trying to endure, with the rhythmic metallic slamming contrasting against the dull thunder. If you hadn't lived through a dozen storms just like it you might be terrified that the building would be blown apart... Still there is a part of you stricken with fear that something is different about this storm. You couldn't tell what if pressed. Just a pit in your stomach. The flashes move from the horizon to you, the building shuttering with every clap. You pray that the storm will end quickly, when suddenly the flashes stop, and the rumbles of the thunder subside, leaving only the roar of the wind. Baffled you move closer to the window to see what is going on when you it. A massive galley with gold engraved along its sides, marred by large scorches and smouldering holes, its tatter sails sticking out the side like massive wings as it slips through the clouds above the ruined city. Unable to comprehend what you are seeing you just gawk at is as tiny specks seem to be thrown from the ship before it touches ground, crumbling like it was made of tinder.
You see several of the building around the ship totter back and forth, some even collapsing like a jenga tower. Realizing what that meant to late, you are thrown to the floor as your own building bucks from the earthquake caused by the impact. As the floor sways back and forth you hear a massive crack from below, as the floor seems to bulge upwards, hurling you into the air, the windows finally succumbing to the violence, spraying you with shards. Clinging to the floor with your hands over your head for cover you do the only thing you can and desperately wait for it to be over. After a long moment of being soaked by the warm rain forced through inside by the winds, you gain the will to look around. First thing you notice is that the floor has collapsed on one side of the room, taking the dividing wall with it. Luckily it looks like the building is in no hurry to collapse... At least for now, but what the hell hit it?
