I ask. I certainly wasn't expecting elves to put out enough numbers to counter a group as numerous as these centaurs are. "I would also like to see what my map leads me to, just to see what I can find there."

"Until you have a concrete plan I can not guarantee anything. We aren't opposed to ridding ourselves of the centaurs but we can hold them off, so we can afford being patient," She explains. At your comment one of the guards snaps out, "Filthy thief! You will not have our treasures!" The leader glares at the guard and indicates that the guard is to leave before turning to you, "I am sorry for the outburst but just because you have a map to treasure in our territory does not mean it is yours. We won't simply hand over what is ours since you have a piece of paper. You understand."

"Hm, would it make a difference if I said I had some proof that it was mine? I might have a little bit, but it's rather private." I mention, debating whether or not to reveal my draconic anatomy. The simple fact is, while Yuna was doubtful that my biology was draconic, these elves appear quite versed in illusion magic, so they'll be much more aware of how difficult it is to fake the specific properties.

"If you can prove that they are not elven but rather yours we will concede," She nods. You do note that just because you can transform doesn't meant that the treasure is specifically yours. Of course you should be able to bypass any draconic wards placed on it so you might need a witness to prove you did.

My main plan is to bypass and dragon based wards as needed, so I'm hoping that they've survived for now. "Very well, if you could take me to the vault, or whatever you would like me to investigate?" I prompt.

I recall, but Suku uses almost no magic to transform, much of her draconic physiology is permanently there.

True, but A) That's hard to tell from the outside, and B) that doesn't prove anything other then you're not one of the known races. Imagine if some found a literal unicorn. You're not just going to assume it has magical powers and a suspicious preference for virgins just cause it's a horse with a horn.

"I do not know what map you are referring to so I can't say for sure. Regardless we can't just allow you to act as you wish. We accept Yuna as a refugee, and you as her bodyguard, but that doesn't mean you can just wander our lands as your own. Why should we allow the risk of a foreigner with an unknown background to wander our sacred forests?"

"If you wish to send another guard with me, that is fine. I'd likely sell you anything I found anyway, assuming I couldn't use it myself. Would this arrangement be acceptable?" I ask her. There's likely numerous high quality raw materials present if I recall properly, so while I'll probably pocket much of it myself, I wouldn't mind offloading some of it for local goods as even my own skills are limited.

"That would be a bare minimum, but we don't know your intentions or abilities so you could easily escape or disable the guard if you so desire and then what?" She retorts, outlying her distrust. While there are several caches with the elven territory it is clear that it will take time to earn their trust. Perhaps it would be faster to instead go for some close but outside their borders.

Mulling the issue over, I do decide that using the elven territory as a safe base would probably work better than trying to bull my way into them. My pride as a dragon feels damaged in the fact that I'm... giving ground, but... I'm not exactly the most powerful. "That is fair. Would you be willing to allow me safe passage within your lands if I don't try to search it, instead heading out of your territory to do so?" I ask.

"We can," She nods. Yuna takes this as a chance to reply as well, "I'll be sticking here for a bit and see what I information I can get. Maybe see if I have any strings I can pull."

I briefly consider trading before hand, but decide that keeping exactly what I have and have not found in the cache versus what I showed up with is probably wiser. I give everyone a nod of thanks and farewell before I head out and bring Ruby with me.

You are assigned a pair 'guides' though it is quite clear that they are here to ensure you don't get into any trouble. With your information from your map they lead you to the border and shoo you away. From the map it looks like the vault is about a days round journey into the foothills of the mountain range. Of course that doesn't include the time to actually find it and loot it so probably reach there by tonight, then loot it and come back tomorrow.

Was thinking the queen here though it would be a while since they are pretty suspicious of you. You would have a guard leading you to and from the border but they wouldn't be easy either. The idea I had was you do missions for the elves to raise your status with them then you get the pussy and vaults full of goodies.

That's fair, however you to do it. Didn't know if I was going to get a temp elf teammate who gets a little tipsy and impregnated during an after dungeon dive party.

I stretch when I reach the limit of the elven lands, feeling a slight pressure ease up as the illusions no longer try to invade my mind. With Ruby along, I head out, trying to keep my eyes open as I prepare to go on a short journey.

Possible when you move up to the dungeons in the elven territory. As it stands they are not willing to travel very far from their forest.

You arrive at the marked location but you find nothing immediately, just gentle slopes. Obviously it would have to be hidden or even the fabled draconic runes would have given away at who knows how many hundreds or even thousands of years of would be pillagers trying to force their way in. Still how would they be hidden? You need an approach rather then just blindly wandering around.

I take a seat, asking Ruby to guard me for a bit while I poke around magically. I begin basic cultivation for a bit, just to see if it will react to me gathering mana like that, and begin to probe around with my... spatial sense. I wish I'd had a proper mentor for space magic, but that's what happens when your magic is both rare and not exceptionally powerful or useful for combat. At least venom is common enough I could get some help... I stop grumbling, focusing on probing the area with my magical senses. Hm, could be sealed behind spatial magic as well, I reach for my portaling ability, looking to see if I might be able to feel it latch onto something.

You don't detect any spatial magic but you do detect a vein of mana running through the area. Sensible as that means the vault would have something to keep it's more potent wards charged by. You might be able to use that to your advantage though.

Which one, weaponized portals? Also, while her 'space' has been heavily pumped up forcibly, I doubt she'd have the necessary control of it to make, say, a thin line of portal that she can use like a lightsabre.

Spotting magic vein, I get a good heading on it before I abandon my meditation pose and collect Ruby, planning to follow it.
