History:
Spoiler (click to show/hide):

Background: Sadria "Sadie" Krasta is a veteran member of the Adeptus Sororitas, the Sisters of Battle to most, known for her fluency in the many, *many* languages used by both humans and xenos and her relatively calm and approachable demeanor outside of battle, she was often brought in to negotiate and coordinate with local planetary forces or to interrogate both the many vile breeds of xenos and heretics of all kinds of stripes, from garden variety traitors to actual worshipers of the Dark Gods. In battle, her track record was a touch more spotty, not out of any failures on her own combat skills so much, but by her hotheadedness in the midst of combat and notably terrible luck, to the extent that on one occasion, a stray squig propelled by an Ork rokkit had landed right in a small transport vehicle she was driving, the ensuing struggle and chaos that ensued having left her with a long scar along her jaw. For these reasons, Sadria was largely taken from main combat roles and thus left with just her carapace armor, sabre and bolt pistol when disaster struck as her unit was traveling through the stars on their eternal crusade.

Still, she served well with the regiment, and more or less everything was going about as well as one would expect up until, while traveling through space on their neverending crusade against the enemies of the Imperium, disaster would strike, putting Sadia on a truly bizarre adventure.

Skills and equipment:
Spoiler (click to show/hide):

Sadia is equipped with a common las pistol, a sabre and her Vostroyan carapace armor, and is proficient with swords, pistols, rifles and riding animals from spending time on pre industrial level worlds, where vehicles were not always the best or most available method of travel. She's also a fairly swift learner, and as long as someone's willing to show her the ropes, she has a decent chance of picking up the basics of a new or unusual piece of equipment or concept within a short period of time, and having to cope with her bad luck has caused her to be pretty good at improvising and jury rigging tools and equipment, though she's not formally trained, and thus had a good chance of either breaking her equipment further in the long term or massively pissing off the regiment's tech priest in the process.

The latest trip through the warp storm has been especially rough, and you've been waiting it out in your quarters, praying to the Emperor that He will grant you the ability to survive this and bring the eternal peace His enemies deserve. Crew morale is not improved by a woman having to run and vomit every few hours, so you've saved your allies from putting up with your weakness, although you still can't figure out why it's only the Warp that affects you like this. A rumble, a bit bigger than you expect, trails through the ship, and you feel... something. Alarm flows through you as you feel something continue to rattle. A bit of Warp leaking past the Geller field maybe? A distinct *crunch* and you're thrown about your cabin, slamming against the walls over and over, struggling to keep your mind functioning before the door comes to greet you, along with darkness.

A vision forms before you, an intense golden light. A deep rumbling voice echoes around you. "Sister Sadria Kastra. The feral planet you will find yourself on has been touched by the Warp, but the Emperor is testing new techniques to battle it. By the Emperors will, you have been altered, these alterations will aid you in you attempt to conquer this world for the Imperium. Now, go child. Bring the Emperors Glory to all."

Sadria had to take a moment to compose herself after waking up, wincing as she raised a hand to gingerly touch where her head hurt and finding a bit of blood on her scalp, that'd hurt for a while, but it didn't feel like she was missing a chunk of her skull or grey matter at least. What was more troubling was the vision she'd received, about landing on a feral world tainted by the Warp and these "techniques" that the voice had mentioned, and more immediately, the fact that if the voice was true, the ship and it's crew had crash landed. Whispering a short prayer of thanks to the Emperor for allowing her to live, she decided to get moving. Time wasted laying about was a form of heresy in the Emperor's eyes after all.

Sadria would rise gingerly, making sure nothing was broken or heavily bleeding, and move forward. She was worried about any survivors, so she'd start there. If she found any useful supplies, like medical

You feel a slight tug as you get up, and a full hairs pull out of your scalp as you break loose. Looking, you see a wall, with a few of your silvery hairs poking out of it. That... that could have been your head with just an inch more. The warp twisted hull seems to have... not so much crash landed as exited the warp partially embedded in a mountain. You feel an intense strangeness, your mind seeming to... anchor to this position before the feeling fades and you shake your head to clear it. This is shaping up to really show off your luck, but the Emperor sends his greatest challenges to his most faithful.

Otherwise, you're in fine shape, and you manage to immediately salvage your las pistol and armor, dawning it and preparing for whatever warp tainted monsters are about and needing purification. Looking out the bulkhead door, you see a terrifying sight, a stone cavern with just a small portion of the ship present. Mostly just your room rammed partway into a cave wall.

Spoiler (click to show/hide):

Would you like to fight to a supply cache, or continue finding goodies? Also, how deep do you want to be?

Sadria found herself paling somewhat despite her training, quietly uttering another prayer of thanks to the Emperor as she carefully moved away from the wall and tried avoiding the thought of winding up somehow fused to the stone and bedrock, possibly alive, and hoped that the crew who did wind up entombed in the stone died instantly. Such an effort only met mild success, and this wasn't helped by an odd... churning in her mind, maybe she'd taken a worse hit than she'd thought. Still, she felt some relief when she managed to dig her weapons out of the mess and carefully left her room, letting her eyes adjust to the darkness of the cave as she got her weapons in their proper place at her hip and giving them small tugs and pats just to be certain that they were secure. She'd had some experience with bindings coming loose before, and was always careful to double check any time she did up any straps or fixing.

Spoiler (click to show/hide):

Flipped a coin and got heads, so I'll go with the option of fighting for a cache. Probably not hugely deep, maybe enough of a trip that it'd take her a few hours to about a day to get to the surface if she dawdled too much unless you've got something planned for the underground areas

Spoiler (click to show/hide):

We could introduce the save game mechanics with an early game over by being captured by driders and turned into an egg incubator?

Rearming yourself, you feel safer and more secure now that the Emperors tools are back at your side, ready to help you purge any heresy you find. Still, investigating reveals that it just seems to be the small portion of your room that is in this location, so... the ship broke up? And you're not in a blast crater, so it must have been some kind of warp deposit rather than a crash landing. (P:7+4) Carefully exploring, a soft skittering catches your attention as it runs away. It sounded bigger than a rat, but not the full sized monsters you normally find yourself gutting. Perhaps something knee high?

Sadria felt a mixture of hope and worry for her comrades at the findings, if the ship had broken up due to the Warp's interference, there was a chance they were alive and unharmed, but there was just as much chance that they were in similar or worse situations than she was! Time being likely of the essence, she moved as fast as she dared in such circumstances, when she spotted something moving fast off in the distance. A creature that came up to just below her thigh, while not massive, was concerning. Still, it appears to have run away rather than tried to attack, so perhaps she'd scared it?

As if it'd be that easy.

Steeling herself, she crept forward even more carefully than before, drawing out her sabre with her free hand as she did so. She wasn't about to give chase to whatever it was, but she was damned sure not going to trust anything on this planet til she was in a better, safer location.

Spoiler (click to show/hide):

Sounds like a plan. Should she sort of remember what happened or will be do a more regular save/load system where she just resets at the last point?

(P:14+4)

Advancing much more cautiously, you spot a few things that you likely would have missed had you been too eager to advance. A strange, thin but tough spiderweb runs across the hallway, and likely would have tangled you up if you'd run across it. Your sword doesn't cleave it easily, and a few sawing motions to finally part it. Some kind of insect or spider then, Tyranid invasion? No, the foul stench of a 'nid infestation isn't present. Still, there's likely numerous more spiders or other disgusting xenos down that way. You have your las pistol, sabre and armor, which should be enough to handle this, but... another route might have something like a bolter, flamer or some well served grenades.

Spoiler (click to show/hide):

I was going to have her remember, and if she happens to, she can even run across her body or game over state. All the 'loot' will teleport to the respawn point, but it could work better if she finds herself wrapped up in spider silk with a belly full of spider eggs. Up to you if that's too much.

Also, is this a power sabre, chainsword, or just a sharp bit of metal blessed by the Emperor? We can always run across supply cache's with upgrades later.

Spoiler (click to show/hide):

Hey, that sounds pretty cool, it'd be interesting to have her find herself all sow'ed up or the like. The sabre's just a regular bit o' metal, figured that since she's more of a support person than a straight up combatant a lot of the time she'd be more lightly armed than the standard battle sister, and like you said we can have her pick up more gear as she travels.

Sadria narrowed her eyes as she cut the spiderweb, glad she chose to be more careful rather than just charging after the first creature she saw. She wondered if the thing she'd seen had intended to lure her into this as a trap, or if it were just a coincidence and she was being paranoid, one couldn't really tell the difference at times like these. At least these things weren't tyranids though. If they were, she'd probably have turned back immediately. Deciding to check the surrounding areas, she kept her eyes peeled for both threats and valuables. A good flamer would probably be excellent in case of any more webs, and she always did love the smell of burning promethium in the morning.

(P:6+4)

You keep your eyes peeled in every direction, badly wishing you had a few Servitors to aid you, just to help you watch everything around you, and keep your head on straight. Your hair gets caught, and you give it a slight tug, only for something to trip you at the same time. Your instincts are good enough that you roll away from whatever it is, and you get up to find some kind of spider monster the size of a large dog hissing at you.

Sadria swore harshly enough to make a jungle fighter blush when she felt herself start falling, barely managing to avoid cracking her head on the stone as she tumbled away a few steps and scrambled back to her feet, weapons at the ready. It looked like she was going to have to test herself against her first quarry on this throne forsaken rock here and now.

"Alright then, come on!" she snarled, gritting her teeth as she brought her laspistol to bear and fired on the beast. "If it's a meal you're after, I hope you like it hot!"

Whether it's seen pistols before or the thick webbing around you has slowed you down, the spider dodges your shot, closing the distance and entering range of melee combat. Foolish beast doesn't know that it will be tasting the Emperors Steel!

Sadria grunts in annoyance at seeing her shots miss, but if this overgrown insect wants her, it'll have her! Planting her feet firmly on the ground, she braces for the spider's charge and thrusts forward with her sabre, intent on impaling it using it's own momentum and the strength of her arm!

(S: Natural 20!)

The spider is either unfamiliar with swords, or too stupid to realize what's going to happen as it runs up and manages to skewer itself on your blade, and with you now controlling its motions, it's easy to flip onto its back and pump a few more las-blasts into its belly, the smell of cooking bug meat bringing back pleasant memories of the Emperors enemies being sanctified.

"Hmm. One more victory for the Golden Throne." Sadria remarks finally, wiping the spider's blood off her sword with her tabard. She'd take a second to memorize the beast's appearance, then be on her way without sparing this individual a second thought. Now to find a way out of here, and maybe a few useful items along the way... if she's lucky.

(Loot Luck: 6+3, Explore: Natural 20! did you bribe my dice?)

Ignoring the spider corpse, failed bit of material it is, you begin searching again, this time noticing something different. Rather than normal cave wall, you begin to make out straight, flat metal. Specifically, hull metal! A bit of poking around, and you find a small... not container, but most of a storage room. You almost feel a bit of greed, but know that it's actually the Emperor helping you do his will.

(Look man, your dice just uh, found that fifty lying around on the ground and it just happened to have been near me at the time! You can't prove nothin'!)

Sadria finds herself grinning despite her situation, looks like the Emperor truly was with her today! Cracking open the storage room, she hopes to find a hand held flamer pistol, a servo skull, rope or medical supplies, those seem like they'd be the most useful things that she could get right now!

Cracking it open, you find yourself a flame pistol, a solar charger, and a servo skull! The skull quickly awakens as you tell it to serve you, and the pistol fits easily in your side pocket. A strange urge to go back to the room you woke up in strikes you, but you shake it off before noting the servoskull is already starting to float around you, waiting for orders. You slip a few more fuel cans into your waist bandoleer, creating an off centered cant to it. Slipping the solar charger, something that will keep you flush with las pistol shots as long as you can leave, is also a great boon.

Better armed and with at least a servant of the Emperor, even if it's one of steel instead of flesh, watching your back, you feel much more secure. You could continue further into the spider nest, you could follow whatever instinct is telling you that returning to the the chamber you woke up in, or you could go looking for a different route entirely.

Sadria can't help but grin as she hurriedly loads up on the goodies, these would come in real handy! Once she'd loaded up, she paused for a second to think about what to order the servo skull to do, before settling on something basic.

"Alright, follow me while performing a self diagnostic, then run continuous scans for lifeforms or hazards, and if you have any recordings or information, share them." she finished, considering her options. Moving further into the nest could reap her greater rewards, but that would likely also mean hazarding more encounters with the spiders. While she was fairly confident that she could kill them in a straight one on one scenario, she was in their territory, and the idea of getting ambushed or trapped by multiple spiders while dealing with webbing wasn't pleasant, even with her newfound weaponry. She also felt an odd tugging sensation, as if she ought to go back for a moment, and besides if she used where she woke up as a reference point, she could map out the area better in her head, thereby reducing her chances of getting lost if she took alternate routes.

Her mind made, Sadria would withdraw from this tunnel, at least for now, and return to what was left of her quarters, hopefully with her newfound compatriot in tow.

The strange urge disappears when you reenter your former quarters, and you feel both safe, and somehow more grounded now. The servoskull follows you easily enough, but seems to be nearly blank of usable information. Having it project a map of the area, you see the tiny bit of area you've explored already, and nothing else. The sensation of being grounded fades, but you feel better equipped to handle anything new that comes your way.

Thinking about it, you have a few options for yourself. You could wait here and send the Servoskull scouting, but it's both defenseless... and rather dumb, so you'd risk losing it. You could head back the way you explored before, you've already found one resource cache there, there could be more. Or you could explore one of the other branching tunnels, hoping for something that leads outside assuming you don't have to punch through the web of giant spiders.

Sadria takes a deep breath of relief, allowing herself to feel a bit more comfortable by taking a seat and having the servo skull present her with a map while she contemplated her next move. She made a mental note about the previous tunnel, but figured it'd probably be best to scout out the other tunnels and see if they differed any, which were more dangerous or difficult to traverse, which appeared to be sloping upwards or downwards, etc., and to that end, she'd stand once more, ignoring her strange mental attachment to this area as just her instinctively viewing this place as safe, and plan her next journey.

She'd have the servo skull take the lead a few feet ahead of her: It could scan ahead for threats or difficult terrain and if worst came to worst and there was an attack it couldn't detect on time, it might get hit instead of her. While she wasn't a coward or intentionally careless for such devices, creations of both the servants of the Machine God and the Emperor, servitors and servo skulls existed to serve true humans, and that's what it would do. She did order it to draw back towards her if it detected a threat, however, she wanted to avoid getting it damaged or destroyed unnecessarily.

Spoiler (click to show/hide):

Hmm, maybe bat creatures, mole folk or scorpion things, or if it's a bigger threat, maybe even some kind of cave dwelling goblin or orkoid creatures that dwell underground, or cyclopes?
