Depths of the Forgotten

"Didn't sound like it," She looks at you before leading the way.

Unfortunately after my demise, most of my powers were lost, though I still retain several. As you probably noticed I increase your strength and durability many fold, but I do have more. You'll be highly resistant to diseases and many poisons, and of course, my ability to steal power from other creatures. Naturally this includes the recently acquired regeneration ability, but also while I was lost, a curious earth gnome picked me up and I managed to acquire limited earthshaping powers, though in my incomplete state, I had great difficulty retaining them.

"They're just so... ugly. The artifact made it become pleasure instead." I tell her, unsure of myself.

So, basic physical enhancement, and some basic earth magic? I can probably work with that for a bit. I ask Ira before I turn my focus inward a bit, curious about the new life inside of me.

"So one ability of your armor... and a curious one at that," She comments.

You will have to until we can acquire more potent abilities Ira comments as you focus on the budding life. It's hard to detect, being only an hour old, way too early to feed on. You could accelerate it, you feel, but you'd pay the price with your body, and unless you have a safe place to rest and food to eat, that is probably not wise.

"I think it has limited ability to cancel out pain, but it can't always get ride of the sensations entirely, so it needs something else to turn it into. I'd rather pleasure than something else, although it might be a problem later." I mention to her. I agree with the feedback from my instincts, or the armor, whoever is feeding me information, best to wait before I accelerate anything. "Can you explain more about fighting?" I ask her, hoping she'll be able to make it make sense.

"If you want to turn into a pain junkie then sure," She retorts with a shrug before sighing at your next question, "Most people think of fighting as just hitting the other person harder, but that couldn't be further from the truth. In actuality it's usually pretty easy to kill someone if you hit them in the right spot, so being able to accurately land a blow while defending yourself from a counter attack is typically how fights are decided."

"Precision over power, got it." I nod to her, hoping she'll give me more I can work on.

Clearly noticing your expectations she lets out a sigh, "Look, fighting is a skill. No matter how much I explain to you, you won't get it until you actually do it. All the strategies and knowledge in the world won't do you any good if you freeze at the sight of someone charging at you with a weapon, as you try to remember what to do." At this point you finally reach her 'home.' It's more of a cave, though she did apparently smooth out the stones so it stands out from the surroundings. "So did you want to eat first or get right to training?"

"You're going to hurt me if I eat first, aren't?" I ask, suspicious. I've seen that particular trap before.

[Sallin_Kari]

"If I wanted to hurt you, I'd just have snapped your neck when I had my tail around it," She glares at you, "Do I really I look like I have nothing to better to do then set up this little ploy? You were the one who said you wanted to eat something other then troll meat."

"Alright. Look. I have no idea why you're helping me. So I'm trying to be aware!" I tell her in a huff.

"Because we're both in the same boat... And well you know the saying the enemy of my enemy is my friend, no?" She retorts, "In case I haven't made myself clear, if people find out that we're walking around outside, they will try to kill us. I'd like to be able to prevent that, but I can't do it alone."

"Alright. That seems reasonable." I nod to her, hoping I'm bluffing well enough. I don't understand things that great so far, but I'm hoping it will make sense after I eat, fight, and sleep.

"Good. I'm glad we could come to an understanding," Her voice is tired, clearly not amused by your attempts. She leads you inside and hands... more throws some rations at you. They're tough, rubbery, with a slight fungus taste... but they're not troll meat, so they have that going for them.

I eat as much as possible before I roll my shoulders and move toward the nearest place that we might doing some play fighting.

She leads you to her front... lawn? It lacks any sort of plants, just being an area of smoothed stone, so maybe more of a plaza? Regardless she tells you this is where you'll be training from now on, before inquiring, "So you have many different things to learn. First thing is would you like to learn attack, defending, or perhaps see if you have any magical aptitude to begin with?"

She's supposed to have nothing but basic brawling experience, so she'd be starting from scratch. Give me a summary.

"I think I should learn to defend. I have armor, but I need to know how to use it." The training she gives me is exhausting, but I do learn some basics by the time the training session is done.

Your training is harsh, but you are learning things... Like you have no talent for any aspect of fighting so there will be no short cuts. Still you have learned a few stances, the proper way to throw a punch, and a little footwork that allow you to actually attempt to dodge a blow without falling onto the floor. The thing you are struggling the most with are spells. Specifically you haven't even managed to get a grasp on magic yet. Ira claims that this is unimportant, apparently as an attempt to mollify your frustrations, by stating you'll be able to use magic by feeding off creatures that does.

Well, that does provide an alternative way to gain power. Not that I want to reveal that just yet. And I'm kind of already stuffed full. By the time the day is finished, I collapse onto the ground in an area that looks flatish and not too hard and pass out.

Unfortunately for you attempts to pass out, you are poked and prodded as soon as you're on the ground, "I thought you didn't particularly like being fucked by cave trolls. Passing out in the open is how you get attacked by one. Come on in the 'home' proper. I'm sure I have a place for you to crash."

I grumble at her before I shuffle to my feet and follow her in and look for somewhere to fall asleep. Her bed looks pretty nice and I start to head toward it.
