The resulting argument runs chills through your spine as Lilixes blames you and Yali for losing her papers, yelling at the guards for being incompetent, even picking one up by the throat when he suggested that they might not be able to let her in without identification. The flash backs from your pass are strong, and remind you how much worse Lilixes could be if she wanted to be. Eventually they say that they may be able help, after which Lilixes applies the carrot, offering some of the monster parts as recompense for her slaves failures, which seems to motivate the guards to get this done and fast, less she withdraw her offer for being held up for any period of time. Eventually you find yourself on the other side of the gate with new cards with fake names.

Fake names, fake cards, we're about as set as we can be. Muttering quietly near the two of them, "I don't have much experience with money. I expect it's beneath Lilixies, I suggest we let Yali do the bartering." I comment.

Yali nods, "Black market or legal, I've know my way around merchants."

"Good" Lilixes comments, "That was more annoying then I remember. I would like to avoid dealing with merchants as well."

"I'll go sell this stuff then, and you guys go find a tavern, or somewhere else to stay," Yali suggests, "Let's meet up in the town square in an hour or two."

"Alright, you've got it." I hand her the portion of parts I've been carrying and begin to look around, surveying both the town and the people here.

There are a bunch of elves here, unlike your home. You've heard that in a way they are worse then the Immortal Masters, as the Masters at least dislike dealing with the slave races, but elves love to actively search for flaws they can expose. Other then that there are a large contingent of beastfolk here in addition to the human population. You never saw many of them before, as they typically don't do well in mining which is the primary economy of your hometown.

Having gotten my chance to survey the population, I turn my thoughts inward a bit, [Ira, do you know if we gain anything from elves? You can learn magic easier. Nothing too interesting honestly, as fucking certain monsters will just flat out give you spells rather then requiring you to learn them. Basically it increases the max level of magic you can achieve as well as give you a slight bonus to experience gain towards that, so you could theoretically become an archmage, but you'd need to dedicate so much time to that.

[They do have a natural affinity for magic, however I do not believe you would reasonably be able to properly exploit it, unless you wish to delay our revenge for a hundred years while you learn magic,] Ira explains.

Or, she could alter the local population the fun way! The only other thing I was thinking is that it creates a permanent/pregnancy long link that lets her drain some of their mana.

[And I assume most of the beast kin offer some degree of physical improvement, the kind you've already overshadowed?] I ask a little disappointed. [Still, if you don't mind, take some careful notes on their face structure and such. I'm sure altering my own appearance to fit with theirs will make it easier to move about.]

No. There are reasons that can not work. If you actually dig up some information on the past of Ira you can find out why.
