I open my mouth to question her comment but then my jaw drops even further as I see her stomach flatten out in seconds, making me forget what I was about to ask. Especially after being caught off guard by her question, "Uh... What can I do?" Pausing for a moment, I add, "I'm still out of my depths so what do you think I should do I need to do from here on out?"

"Hm, we should probably build you a bit of lair first. We'll plan things out so you can see the cost of them before you start using up your mana though." Looking around, she swirls her hand a bit, faint blue light whirling around and showing the side of the mountain. You and her are inside of a slight depression that is barely more than a cave. There's the two of you, as well as what can only be the dungeon heart slowly pulsing near the two of you. You 'feel' that you can stretch out the cavern if you want, as well as the fact that you can create traps, although you'll need to provide the basic idea for the dungeon to process it.

I pause for a moment to look around. Well build things as we need them, right? First thing we need is some living quarters. I mentally map out a comfortable floor plan for two people.

Setting up the cave system a bit doesn't seem to cost much, maybe ten percent of the mana you've got to make a fairly comfortable living arrangement. You notice that you don't really need lights and windows, although you're not sure entirely why. While the core produces a certain base amount of mana that you can use to sustain yourself and Velvet, the surplus is stored to create the large pool, which is what you're using to create the changes you want. You only gain a small amount of mana each day 'naturally' so you'll need to find alternative sources if you wish to expand significantly.

With that done the next thing I guess we need is a way to stop things from wandering in and reaching the core. For now a simple hallway with multiple stone doors should be enough to at the very least buy us time. Still, I turn to Velvet, "So... how do I get more mana?"

The hallway would eat up another twenty percent of your mana. Altering the stone seems to be the main thing, although there seems to be some of it tied up in the relative complexity of a door. You could create a lot more tunnel/cave for the cost of a straight hallway with doors. That does create the problem of making sure those long hallways don't interact, but it's a possibility. And it won't take long for you to run out of mountain to hollow out before you have to spend mana to claim more. For the most part, you're still working off instinct, and you're still in the 'proposal' stage rather than committed stage.

"Sex is probably the best way. Particularly with women. Sex with monster girls is also good, but doesn't create the mana in as a raw of a state. It can fuel both of us, and the dungeon, but it's a lot harder to get it the dungeon to use it to modify itself. And I hate to tell you this, but having sex with me won't do much more than keep the two of us alive. Not that I'm complaining, just being honest here. There's lots of other ways, but it tends to involve blood sacrifices and such. I don't know you that well, but well enough to guess that's not much of an option."

Well... we need this and I have no need for side rooms, so I'll stick with this for now.

Listening to her response I pause, before asking, "So... you're telling me to kidnap women?"

She gives you a 'pfft' before gesturing to the small pile of silver at the ground. It's grown a bit since you've looked at it. "You'll not have a problem finding people to come. Monster women will be attracted to the new dungeon, which will draw the mortals, who will seek money and power. It's best you start thinking of how you want to defend the area."

"It's still kidnapping even if they come to a dungeon..." I mention before letting out a sigh, "Okay, so basically the priority is getting monster girls... How do we go on about that?"

"The monster girls will sense the magic and begin to show up themselves. Don't worry about that. The main thing is going to be creating a defensible structure and having somewhere for them to rest. We'll get to make a home!" She's bubbly for a soul devouring succubus.

"But wouldn't what kind of monster girls we get be important in knowing what design would be better? You know... in order to take into account their abilities?" I question.

"You're intent on ruining my fun aren't you?" She says with a sigh. She does... something, and you feel a bit of information whisk from around you into her. "Let's see, we've got some Nagas close by, and Gargoyle girls on the way further out, likely attracted by the stone. There's a few others, but those seem to be the basics right now. As they approach closer, I'll be able to guess better, but there are a few different ones further out wandering closer as the crystal gathers more magic. Nagas are a race of part snake women, they tend to favor magic although they're also quite good at ambush tactics. They tend to prefer a drier warm climate though, what with being reptilian. Gargoyles are covered in a thick layer of stone, and are vaguely reminiscent of dragon girls. They're not very fertile though, so don't expect to have a lot of them very quickly."

"I can work with that," I nod. So, for now I'm going to have just one room for encounters, I figure. I can always add more as I get more power, but if a room is useless after a certain time it's a waste. Gargoyles can fly so having a high ceiling will give it an advantage, especially if they have perches they can wait on to ambush... A large cathedral type might work well, both for the distracting awe of it, and the fact that statues are common within them so they might not second guess them, thinking they're just statues... Even more so if I have dummy statues... For that matter, have large statues or pillars scattered around the floor would benefit the Naga as well, providing a place to strike from concealment, as well as break line of sight. Particularly good for casters, as their primary weakness is being focused, but if they have difficulty surrounding or keeping line of sight then that is hard to do. While potentially they could be ambushed themselves, as they experienced in that style the risk is lower. Still, combine fighting the Naga's lightning strikes, and the gargoyles aerial harassment or dive bombing, and I have a pretty formidable first and last line of defense. It should be useful even later as well. With my plan in place, I begin toying with the dungeon's settings to see how much this will cost me.

So far, you don't have that much energy coming in. You'll be able to create a single long hallway with high walls and columns, but the statues become too taxing almost immediately as their fine construction prevents you from being able to make more than one or two. As before, detail work seems to be more costly than raw material, which seems odd, but makes sense enough. A block of stone costs less than a finely carved statue that weighs less. Making the main room seems to be the majority of everything you have left unless you're willing to give up the living rooms or the stone columns. The rest will just have to come later it seems. You could implement the changes now, or you could wait until the monster girls arrive to discuss it with them.
