You couldn't help but feel the vast distance of your trip here as you stepped out of the airport to look upon your new home. It didn't take long to notice the man in the suit holding a sign with your name on it. "Ms. Sakurazaki? Hello," He holds out his hand with a professional air about him. "I am Mr. Karanami. Your Grandfather charged me with carrying out his last will which included leaving you his home and the shrine. If you'd please follow me to my car, I can get you to your new home." He walked you to a black sedan before inviting you in. Getting in the car himself, he started it up. The radio was silent as he put the car into gear.

As he started to drive off, he began to speak to you. "If you have any questions, I'd be happy to answer them to the best of my ability, oh, but first.." He pulled something out of his breast pocket handing you a single key. "This is the key to your new residence. It's the only copy I have of it, so you might want to get a spare made to avoid losing it. The property is mostly taken up by the shrine itself, but there's a quaint little home to the side where you can live. I also took the liberty of contacting the local High School once I realized your age. It's Friday, and you just got here, but the Principal would like to meet you over the weekend to give a brief orientation before you start class Monday. Do you have a cell phone? I can give you the number right now, or wait until we get to your home. The house has a land line."

I sighed happily upon arriving at the airport, finally I was in Japan... the place my mother had called home before marrying my father and moving to America. I'd always wanted to visit this country and though it wasn't in the best of circumstances... this would be my home now. Upon spotting the man in the suit, I beamed as I picked up my bags to rush over," Yes, that's me, it's a pleasure to meet you Mr. Karanami!", I greeted him, bowing as I knew was polite... unaware of the way my chest bounced with my movements as I stood back up quickly," And yes, please leave the way... I can't wait to see the shrine", I admitted, following him outside while my eyes darted about at all I could take in.

Upon reaching the car, I put my bags in the backseat, before sliding into the passenger seat, buckling up as we soon were on our way. I was about to ask a question, when he pulled out the key, taking it into hand as I slid it into my skirt pocket, listening to all he had to say before I would ask anything. Upon learning of my upcoming highschool, I had to resist squealing in excitement as I'd only ever been to an all girl's boarding school and... well, through the manga and anime I'd seen the idea of going to an actual Japanese highschool and wearing a cute school uniform sounding amazing," Thank you so much for all your help Mr. Karanami... and yes, I do have a cell phone, though it's a kinda old one", I admitted, pulling out a flip phone of all things sheepishly," But we can wait on the number until we arrive at the Shrine", I added, slipping the phone back into my pocket, before moving into my questions," First off, will I be the only one living and working at the shrine? I-I don't really know how to take care and handle the duties involved after all", I noted with a nervous smile, before continuing," Also, will I need to order a school uniform for the school or will the principal have it ready?", I asked... only to then look a bit uncertain," and um... I hate to ask this, but did Grandfather leave me any funds or will I need to look into getting a job?"

As you stood up from your low bow, you noticed Mr. Karanami pushing his glasses up his nose with a slight blush. "Yes, well it's good to meet you. Your Grandfather was a pillar of the community, and many feel his passing was too soon even with his advanced age." Without another word, he escorts you to his car.

In the car, he looks a little surprised by your cell phone. "I didn't even know people still had models like that anymore. Anyway, yes back to the shrine. The duties are mostly concerned with cleaning up debris and making sure the shrine itself is in good repair. People like to come by and pray to the shrine spirit, and it's customary to leave an offering, so you'll have that available. It doesn't come to a whole lot though, so there was little money left behind after his passing, the funeral arrangements, legal fees, and your plane ticket. Some part-time work might be necessary to supplement your income." He pulls the car over to the side of the road coming to a stop. "As for the School Uniform, I believe the school makes a habit of providing that. For now, we're here."

On the other side of the road, you can see a single gate behind which is a set of stone stairs leading up the hill. Trees line the sides as nature is held back only enough to allow room for the stairway up. Opening the door, the lawyer steps out. "If you'll follow me, I can lead you up to the shrine as well as your new home. Ah, where are my manners, do you need me to help carry anything?"

Leading you up the stairs, he points out a small stone basin at the top of the stairs. "People coming to pray will cleanse their hands, so the water needs to be kept clean." The shrine sits at the end of the walks way with the offering box nearby. To the left, about halfway to the shrine stands a small house. "And that is your new home." As you look around, something catches your attention, but it takes a moment to realize what it was. It almost sounds like someone is snoring nearby. Mr. Karanami takes notice of your distraction. "Is everything okay?"

I blinked innocently at his reaction to my bowing, but shrugged it off as I moved into the car... his response to my phone making me smile sheepishly," Y-yeah uh, the payment plan was within my budget is all...", I offered in explanation, as I'd been living off what money I could make through a part time job and selling the costumes I'd make online, most of which went to living expenses and in turn buying more supplies to then make more costumes and the sort. Upon having the shrine and my financial situation explained to me, I just nodded as I hoped I could find a well paying job that would work with my school schedule... the offerings left at the shrine at least would be something I hadn't had before, plus the shrine and house with it was owned as opposed to me having to rent, so it was still a much better situation then I'd been in.

The sight of the shrine had me staring eagerly upon it as we parked, taking it all in before slipping out of the car to follow him to my new home... only to blush a bit at his offer," Thank you, but I should be alright", I replied, moving to the trunk as I pulled out both of my suitcases... the rest of my things would be delivered sometime during the weekend, though it wasn't that much more. I followed him up the stairs, listening to what he had to tell me of the shrine," Okay, water basin clean...", I mentally noted as we continued along, reaching the top eventually as I beamed at the sight of my new home... only to blink at the sound of snoring, rapidly looking about for the source," Um... does anyone else live or work here? I thought I heard snoring?", I offered in explanation, confused given the volume of said snoring should have let Mr. Karanami hear it as well...

Mr. Karanami looks a bit abashed when you bring up your budget with regards to your phone. "I didn't mean anything by it, and it's none of my business anyway." The silence in the car after the exchange is a little awkward at that point. When you make it clear that you could handle your luggage, he gives a nod. "Of course, it's always good to offer, but if you're sure." Once you have your luggage out of the back seat, he quickly locks the door before leading the way up the stairs.

He looks a little confused when you mention the sound of the snoring going quiet and taking a look around. It's immediately clear from his expression though that he doesn't hear anything despite the volume of the sounds as they continue. "I'm not hearing anything, but it had been a few days since I checked in on the place. I'll have a look around to make sure no people or wild animals have settled in." As he begins stalking around the house, it becomes even more clear he doesn't hear anything as you realize the sound is coming from near the shrine. Getting closer, you find the source immediately. Atop the shrine itself, a small form is resting a fox small enough to cup in your hands.

Its rest is disturbed as the lawyer calls for you. "Nothing appears to have gotten into the house. Ms. Sakurazaki? Is everything alright over there?" The fox uncurls its body as it awakens, and you can't help but notice that that includes four separate tails from the creature. Its eyes dart to you looking at it before looking over to the man by the house. It looks back at you and catches you by surprise when it speaks. "You can see me, right? He can't, and its best you don't call attention to me." Mr. Karanami walks up beside you looking over the shrine his eyes clearly passing over the multitailed fox. "Nothing looks out of place here. Have you heard any other sounds?"

"O-Oh... thank you, sorry if this ends up just being Jet lag or something, but I appreciate it", I said to Mr. Karanami before he begins to look around for whatever I had heard... only for me to hear another sound, this time from the shrine itself! Unable to resist, I set my things down before rushing over... though trying to be quiet in case it's something or someone dangerous... only to instantly beam at the sight of the resting fox, wishing it was close enough for me to be able to pick it up and pet it. I jumped a bit as I heard Karanami, only to turn and call out to him," It's fine, I was just looking around myself a bit!", I called out, about to point the fox out... when I noticed the four tails it had, eyes widening as it of course instantly reminded me of the tales of Kitsune I was aware of... only to gawk openly as it actually spoke to me, wondering if perhaps I really did have jet lag or something," U-um... just your snoring?", I offered softly, so Mr. Karanami couldn't hear me as I didn't want to come off as crazy... I really needed a nap or a hot relaxing soak in a bath.

The small foxes eyes light up as you speak to it. "So you can see me." She looks a little uncertainly at the lawyer. "We need to talk, but we'll need him to leave if we're going to talk freely." Mr. Karanami walks over looking at the shrine and nods when you tell him you were looking around. "So I take it you haven't heard anything else, then? I don't see any signs of anyone hanging about" He snaps his fingers and pulls out his phone. "Right, I have to give you the school's number. It's probably best you call within the next couple hours just to make sure the Principal is still there." Having given you the number, he gives you a wave goodbye. "I have to return to my office and finish a few things for the day. Good luck with your new home." With that, the lawyer leaves you to your own devices.

Now that it's just the two of you, you notice the fox had jumped down from the shrine while you were talking to the lawyer and was currently sniffing at your leg. "Yup, you definitely are of the right family line. I'm the spirit of this shrine, and I presume you're its new caretaker. It's been a while since this shrine had a proper shrine maiden, so I'm raring for us to get to work." The kitsune hops around a bit showingjust how excited it is. "I can't believe after all this time, I finally have a host again."

I managed to just slightly nod to the fox's words, focusing on Mr. Karanami as I did as I once more wondered if I had lost some of my mind along the trip or not," Y-yeah, nothing else... maybe I was uh, just hearing things?", I reasoned with a nervous laugh, before accepting the number as I then waved him off, thanking him for all the help. As I finished, I looked around for the fox... only to jump in surprise as I found him/her sniffing at my leg," I... guess I aim?", I offered, still a bit unsure... only to then give it a confused frown," Um, what exactly do you mean by work and... having a "Host? again?", I asked, a bit nervous as I wondered if this was one of those possession stories I'd heard about.

The fox nods as you question some of what she's saying to you. "Yes, this town is a sort of gateway between worlds. A place where dimensions touch one another. Because of this people can hop here from those dimensions. Some of them are benevolent like myself, others...not so much. My duty is to help prevent those other from causing too much chaos, but even with the best intentions, my superiors were concerned my mere presence could cause trouble, so my ability to act in this dimension is very limited. That's where my host comes in. I grant you power I cannot exercise on my own and guide you in its use, and you use it to seek out and stop trouble-makers." She gives you a scrutinizing look. "Perhaps it would be easier to understand with a demonstration." Stepping back a little, her rear raises up as if she were preparing to charge or leap forward.

Anya stared, once more wondering if she was losing her mind... or perhaps just dreaming, given this sounded like something right out of a manga/anime after all," I-I see... wait, I get powers?", Anya asked in a rather hopeful manner, eyes almost seeming starry as she mentally imagined herself in a cool heroine like outfit... only to then notice the Fox looking ready to pounce upon her," U-um, hold on a second!", she stammered out, unsure if she was about to be tackled or what as she took an uneasy step back.

Your call comes out too late, as the small ball of fluff leaps at you looking a bit surprised. "Whoa," she shouts as it becomes too late to stop herself from bowling into you. Out of instinct, you cross your arms to block her body as it comes careening towards you but are surprised when there isn't any impact. In fact, she seems to pass through your arms and into your chest like she wasn't even there. There is a brief moment of confusion before sudden warmth blossoms from within you. It feels exhilarating, so much so that you don't even worry at the fact that your vision is soon engulfed in white.

Your body is suffused with a comfortable warmth from within, and something else feels strange, but you can't seem to realize what it even is. Finally, your vision clears, but your body still feels strange, and that's when you notice your arms covered in orange fur. "Sorry, I guess I kind of sprung this on you." You recognize the voice of the kitsune, but it sounds like it's coming from inside of your head.

"W-what in the world!?", I squealed out, eyes wide as I looked over myself... the furry, rather mature form dressed in a rather sweet looking Miko like outfit I now had hard to take in as I continued to look myself over," I-I'm a Kitsune!? I... have a tail?", I stammered out, once more wondering if I was dreaming as I tried to take this all in,"... So uh... you're inside my head now or what? What is all this and... and why am I suddenly like THIS!?", I asked in a frantic manner, head spinning as I continued to just look myself over.

"More like we're sharing the body. I can even move it if you don't try to resist it." You then notice your tail seems to be moving of its own accord as it waves side to side. "Yeah, that's me some of my previous hosts have had trouble with it in the past. Also, you don't need to say things out loud for me to hear it. It takes a bit of practice, but with concentration, you can think things with the intent that I hear them. Our duty now is to deal with troublemakers from other worlds. The changed form is, so people don't recognize you while you're doing it. Believe me, we'll be attracting a lot of attention doing this." She pauses for a moment. "Umm, if you want a better look at yourself there are a few mirrors in the house you can use."

I wasted no time in rushing towards the house... surprised at how fast I was and how I didn't even feel like I was expending energy to do so... and once inside of the house, I found the first mirror I could, gawking at the sight of myself while gaining a flush to my now furry cheeks," W-wow... I look amazing", I gushed aloud, eyes wandering over my reflection as I thought over my new... companion's words," So wait, I'm going to be helping you take on these troublemakers you mentioned? Like a real life Magical Girl or Super Heroine!?", I gushed in excitement, bouncing up and down my heels happily at the idea," And I get powers and stuff too!?"

Even though you can't see it, you can almost feel the smug look the fox would be wearing right now. "Yeah, it's good to feel this body again. So exhilarating." The tail swishes to the side brushing against your stomach and chest. It feels so soft and warm as it does so that you're tempted to hug it. "Ah yes, the powers. You'll have quite a bit going for you in this for.." The voice in your head cuts off as a feeling of foreboding washes over you causing you to shiver involuntarily. "Darn, I'd hoped I could ease you into this a little longer, but that was a disturbance if I ever felt one. It's easier to get a feel for where the feeling is coming from if we're up high, so I'll need you to head outside and jump up onto the roof. With our strength that should be easy as cake."

I squeaked, blushing as the tail felt surprisingly nice, my hands moving to touch it before I managed to catch myself... wondering if this new body might take some getting used to... only to shiver as the foreboding sensation ran through me, wondering just what kind of dangers I would now be dealing with," O-Okay then, let me try", I stammered out, taking a moment... only to be surprised at how easily I just knew what to do, leaping up high onto the top of the shrine, giving me a view of the city nearby... breath taken away for a moment from the amazing sight I had," Wow... the city is beautiful"

From up high, you get a good sight of the city. It's still a few hours before sunset, but you can't help but imagine dawn and dusk must look beautiful from up here. While you can better feel the sense of foreboding, you can't quite tell where it's coming from. "I don't remember the buildings being so tall. Well, they'll make good places to jump from if we want to stay off the streets at least. Can you feel where it's coming from? It'll come with time if you can't, and I can direct you until then."

Following her directions, you come to a small cul de sac. There, you spot three girls who've been forced to the ground by some green child-sized men. The creatures grope and touch the women one even ripping the blouse of his girl open. "Imps, we've got to stop them from having their way with those women."

"I feel... something", I admit after a moment, trying to focus on the foreboding sensation while following the voice's directions as I then leapt building to building... only to land near the small cul de sac with a frown on my lips upon seeing the perverse little creatures," Right, so I just go down there and beat them to a pulp or what?", I asked softly, slowly moving in closer and closer to get a better shot at surprising them and maybe taking them all down without being attacked in turn.

As you circle around to get closer, you become aware of the crowd. A group of people standing some distance away as if not wanting to get involved though unable to draw themselves away from the spectacle before them. A few of the guys in the crowd are looking a little too interested though.

The fox seems hesitant about your plan. "I guess you could do it that way, but with the way they're clinging to the girls, you might risk harming them. If you had a way to lure them away from the girls, but uh I don't have any idea what could draw their attention away from those girls." Something about how she said that last part isn't really convincing, but before you can question it, a scene plays out in your head of you jumping down there, posing to put your ass and chest on display to draw them from the girls and to you, and then taking them out.

Normally, Iwould have never thought of throwing my body out in such a way to get the attention of such creatures... but for whatever reason, in my current form it actually felt like the best way to handle it," I've got the perfect idea!", I said to both herself and my companion in a whisper. I dropped down a good distance from the creatures and their victims," Hey boooooys!", I called out in a... sultry tone I'd never used before, eyes half lidded as my tail swayed oh so temptingly behind myself," Why bother playing with those little girls when you could have a woman like myself?", I challenged them, leaning my upper body forward to better show off my clothed breasts... only to lightly twirl to show off my ass in their direction,"Mmmm, or are you all just too afraid to try out a real woman whom can fight back?"
