Char: Heraklia
Today is the first day of the rest of your life.
After many years growing up in her family estate, you finally are being called to the great agora of Thebes, the center of political and social life in the entire city. This is the time the youth of Thebes choose their path in life, or find it chosen for them. A time for Heraklia to finally show the society that she deserved the glories and recognition that seems to have been denied her all the time!
'Time for me to join the Sacred Band!' boasted Heraklias twin brother, Hector. A slim young man lacking finesse or stamina, he was the antithesis of Heraklias physical prowess. 'We're lucky we're nobles, dear sister!' he said, smiling at his twin who looked absolutely nothing like him. 'Boys get to join the Sacred Band immediately, and fight against the enemies of Thebes, while girls are all automatically eligible to join the temples and serve the gods! We don't have to bother doing something like be a potter, farmer or hunter, unlike the peasants beneath our station!'
He beamed happily at Heraklia, positively hopping at the prospect of joining the military elite of Thebes during his years of service before retiring to the comfortable life of a landed estate owner. He was right, nobles automatically got to be called elite soldiers, but only men. Women were all selected to serve the gods, but which god would you choose to serve? Hera, goddess of women, Athena, goddess of warfare, Aphrodite, goddess of beauty or Diana, goddess of the hunt?
Or break tradition entirely. Choose the trials of the peasants, of the men, to reject entirely.... a daringness threatens to seize you, a daring that would chart your path through life far beyond what you could possibly presume!
