I could have sworn she had small war hammers. Eh, either way. Also, it's been long enough, I sure as shit can't remember how I was doing the upgrades, so I'm going to describe them.

Karina twirls both of her short swords, switching to backhanded hold and dropping one of them as she flips out the small disruption needle she still possesses and throws it before charging in and stabbing both swords through its legs before her daggers come out and start sprouting from the creature's legs, hammering them with different magical effects. With the thing distracted with the half dozen different effects, it doesn't notice you shifting shape and hammering it in the chest. You're glad you had the little wings, as the core was off center, and a single perpetrator would have missed. This thing is far too clever to come back at this level when you and Karina are tired.

You've snatched the core, and you can either take it back with you, or you can consume it.

While I'm tempted to eat the core, I recall that I need alchemy cores so I'll hold off and wait until it gets analyzed... if it is far too much for my project I'll simply consume it then. [Now that we've taken out 'big chunky' did you wish to continue or perhaps clean up what ever remains behind us?]

Only if you think I'm making things harder/worse than they need to be. I have some files saved with basic info on this somewhere on this drive.

What little you can tell shows that the core is easily level five based on the level of magic embedded in it. If you recall correctly, the process of turning a monster core into a spell core works best the less work the conversion process has to do, as it tends to strip levels off of the cores abilities. A level five core sounds about right for the amount of different spells you could add. You'll have to see Hestia actually do it before you'll know for sure.

Karina sits down after a moment, pulling out one of the green crystals she has. "Come here and give me a charge with that sexy sword body of yours." she tells you, healing herself and the bruises on her side fade as the damage that the big golem did heals up. "Now, I think we should honestly just head back. We've made sure that whatever that was won't cause any more damage, and we've secured a core to experiment on. I don't trust the damage to the reset crystals, I want to get out and let some other scmuck worry about that."

I return to Karina and lets out a sigh, [Understood... today has been too long as it is... My mind hurts after trying to merge with that material...]

After borrowing your mana to heal herself, she gives you a smirk at your 'headache' comment. "Does the sword want me to kiss it all better? That pommel looks like it needs a bit of tongue action to settle down." Well, she's back to her sarcastic sexual innuendoes. Getting up and stretching, she works the kinks out of her neck before she begins to wrap herself in the magic that hides her from vision. The two of you make it back out quickly after that, although the various monsters don't seem to be doing any better. Inspecting the crystals, they seem to be healing, although it's very slow. Just what is a dungeon?

The dungeon healing itself is quite interesting... though I'm suspecting they're god constructs at this point. They don't serve any clear purpose. There doesn't seem to be any local power capable of making them. Both I, their beta tester, and that creature, something they specifically wanted dead, appeared in one.

She gives you a pout at your refusal to play with her verbally before the invisibility takes over.

While you haven't told Karina everything about Stan or what you know of the dungeons, you could discuss it with her. Or you could discuss your musings with Hestia or possibly Ayla? Ayla seems like the most likely to want to discuss magical theories but... she's so out there and easily distracted.

I think I'll refrain from any discussion of the gods with the others, as I get the feeling they prefer to not to have their mystique tugged at, and I really can't afford them being annoyed with me.

The trip back home is relatively quiet, mostly tied up with general chatter as Karina sneaks past everyone else and heads to the transport to the city. The small cart seems to be a lot less tense than it was before and the driver even makes idle chatter as well. With the way things are you're sure things should be getting back to normal. Making it back to the mansion intact, the young angel woman seems to have done an adequate job. You have a few options with what you want to do now that you've brought everything back.

First thing I drop off the core to get analyzed and leave Karina to her own devices... Hopefully I won't find the poor angel strapped into a sex dungeon the next time I check... But I'm going to try and cash in my rewards for the mission with the gods.

Well, you've got a few options for cashing in your rewards. Securing a bit of privacy, you mentally ring a bell and ask for whoever owes you a reward.

"Wow, you don't have a lot of respect for us do you? I blame Stan." A female voice echoes around you. The voice lets out a sigh. "Well, I did give you a quest as a non-native, so I suppose I'll have to reward you. Hm, it says in your file not to give you any combat abilities, and I quote, "he's broken enough as is" so I figure I'll have to grant you something else. I don't feel like rummaging around in that little lump of mana you call a brain to figure out what you want, so why don't you tell me what would make you happy." This bitch...

"You did sort of just make me your gopher without any notice while dumping me into a place where literally every macroscopic lifeform wanted to destroy me," I point out, before adding, "Respect is earned... regardless of whether you are a god or not."

I let out a sigh, "What kind of upgrades to my transformation ability can I get?"

"I could unmake you you know. Not simply kill you, but eliminate you and every effect you've had on this world. Find someone a bit more...compliant."

"Hm, let's see what you've got... Oh, that's disgusting. You organics, reproducing by squirting DNA at each other, ich. But, I am a goddess of her word. We've got a time extension. You could also break the times up into different slots. Two bodies at once, but they pull from the same time slot? 'Genetic integration' so you'll have some effect on the offspring, ich. Additional save slot? I assume that means something to you. Anything catch your interest?"

"I'm sure Stan would love that," I simply counter, "A really respectable move."

This is far less interesting then I was expecting, especially since I completed the mission with essentially full gold stars and no assistance from non-mortals, "How much of a time extension are we talking about? And only a single additional save slot? Considering I completed the quest exactly as you had wished, no assistance from 'non-mortals' I believe the term was, and I didn't even involve locals except for my partner which won't be starting any strange rumors, to which I was lead to believe I would be entitled to greater rewards, I find this somewhat uninspiring."

The voice... grunts. "Fine. You did exactly as requested so I should grant you additional boons. An additional hour of time and one more save slot, as well as the ability to do... what is it called, standard builds without using the save slot. Does this please you oh mighty bit of sharpened metal?"

"It does, oh might lady who is far to important for her job," I return the sass... Regardless, it is quite good. An additional hour triples my time, from 30 to 90 minutes. And the standard builds saves me at least one slot.

Depends what you want to do with her. As it stands, she's annoying, but not enough where Johan would actually wish to get even. Him giving her tit for tat is good enough.

"Good, I'm glad you realize that. Now I can get back to the important stuff." There's not so much as a poof as she improves your abilities quite a ways. Thinking about it, you've got a few ways you can use this, such as surprising Karina once more.

I was hoping to go for petulant teenager, mostly for my own amusement. I was going to make the light goddess more of a self important blow hard, but with similar character traits. It always amuses me to have gods that aren't terribly noble or awe inspiring.

"I tend to believe getting paid is quite important," I end with a snarky comment, before I let her go. Anyways, with that said, I immediately begin examining the new setting presets.

Looking through it, there's a few different physical builds available rather than the huge number of sliders. You still have access to them, but the presets would let you narrow the situation by quite some margin to something more like what you would like. The previous default you had was in the male tab, along with a tall skinny one, and a shorter, fatter one. They're not... dwarves or anything, but those are options it seems. There's four or five different sets for each race and gender combination.

Pawing through the various races, you even see a couple with special symbols, and looking shows 'Karina' as an option under the 'Shadow blessed' version, tiny little scars visible even though it's still a metallic body. Purity is also present, although you're not sure why. Heading back to the humans, you're own body is conspicuously absent, likely signalling that your older form is no longer valid in this world. They even let you choose the hair color now, although all of them have a metallic sheen to them. There's also a little toggle at the bottom, saying that it allows you to create a 'gene profile' for the build in question, so you could in fact 'father' some children rather than simply causing a woman to be cloned.

If I were Johann, I'd do a futa copy of Purity and rail Karina. Perhaps with a dick-tail of some kind. I'm thinking a later upgrade will include the ability to disguise yourself as a species.

This is pretty extensive. It does save a lot of time. Looking things over a sense of evilness overcomes me. I copy over the Karina present to one of the slots and start modifying it with some extra 'features' to get back at her.

Why Purity? That does sound interesting... One question I did have is what about the idea that he could turn into creatures he killed? Is that going to be a later upgrade as well?
