She does appear to have calmed down for the most part, and has been professionally humbled by your... wife/sister? Whatever. You can probably head back toward the volcano tonight if you don't have anything else to track down or do just yet.

Definitely want to stay with mom tonight. It's been a while since I got to spend time with her... and not to mention it's been longer for her.

Returning, you actually have to call out several times, as your mother isn't answering until you look over the rim and see her floating in a very thin stream of molten rock, almost seeming to float on top of it. When you get her attention, she flaps her wings twice and she's almost above you, before she glomps onto you and starts nuzzling your neck and stepping away. She's been strange since the battle, and it seems she's not quite fully wound back down, the casual display of flight magic very strange for her.

A delightful scent catches your attention, and you realize that there's a slowly roasting carcass turning next to a new set of stone furniture. If you're not mistaken, it appears to be Magical Bovine in nature, likely a welcoming gift from the Brights. The small stone furniture is also nice, if not quite as posh as the stuff you've got in your own home.

While I'm curious, and even a little concern about mother's behavior, I'm struggling with how to bring it up with her so instead I motion to the roasting meat, "Do you mind if me and Ierien join you... Although Ierien did spend a lot of time sampling the local cuisine, so maybe she's not hungry.

Ierien rolls her eyes at you, "That was hours ago. It's fine." She says, and your mother invites you both to the table and asks about your day.

"Are you sure? You ate a lot," I tease, before giving Mom a warts and all rundown"Well, I introduced Ierien to the local cuisine, and then to Theresa, whom Ierien challenged." I pause at that giving mother a 'yep' look as she was there when Theresa flattened an ogre, so mother should realize just how that went down, "Theresa had gotten a little to into it, and I had to stop her. Theresa then told me she wanted to marry me, and I took Ierien around the town as a tourist where she made a friend, then on the way back we picked up a few magic trinkets that caught her eye."

Your mother listens, barking a laugh when Ierien looks sheepish at the fact that she got testy with Theresa and got flattened as a result. She seems more curious about the whole marriage thing. "How did she decide to marry you? She doesn't seem that rash to rush into a relationship like that." That stings a little bit for some reason, but your mother is likely more familiar with the strange customs of various humans than you are. Still, she does look quite pleased at the various crystals Ierien purchased with your money, particularly a complex earth crystal listed as a 'survival shelter'.

I simply shrug, "She tried to play it off as her duty in order to form a marriage alliance and that I wasn't a bad choice, so I teased her a bit about if she doesn't want me, I'm sure I could get one of her sisters to agree. She was upset by that and I pointed out that she hasn't told me that she wants to marry me specifically, at which point she did," I recount in a very condensed form. I do mention that the crystals are for Ierien, as she expressed an interest in how the locals use magic, but I'm sure that she wouldn't mind mother looking at them with her. I poke Ierien to either verify or deny my assessment.

"Ah, that would make more sense. She struck me as the very cautious sort, so she'd deliberate on the subject for months before she'd actually do it." Your mother mentions before she begins to finish up her meal, and nods to you. "I like her though, she had the right attitude for threats." Ierien nods at your suggestion, showing off the crystals she's got. While she picked up some shield spells, most of them are very complex spells, most likely so she can compare and contrast with what's actually effective.

"She is quite good," I give a smile back, enjoying the dinner as I let my sister show mom what she picked out.

The two of them chatter for a while, comparing the various spell crystals, and actually wrangling you in as well, examining the various crystals you've got on your own gear, both of the commenting on the order of magnitude difference between your equipment you got from Elizabeth and what you got from common sources.

As they go over my gear I explain everything that went into consideration for it. From Judith's design features, to the spells I pick, including the ones I had requested custom made. I hesitate to tell them why I had chosen those spells specifically, as I still want a victory over my absent sister to be mine, and mine alone, but mom would be able to figure out no problem, and Ierein might, though she might need to ruminate on it.

Spoiler (click to show/hide):

Since I ran across this once again, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ckW7qBEHC8c I figured I'd ask if you want Bowsette knockoff to show up before other sister, which might prompt some exploration?

Your mother also seems completely unfazed by your ice shield, and you recall just yesterday when she vaporized a mountain or something similar with that strange light beam of pure fire essence. Ierien is also fascinated by how they design their spell crafts, particularly the number of 'manual' mana manipulation points in your numerous spells since it can't link to your mind. Ierien also mumbles something about creating a proper interface to allow you to use them normally, but you're not sure. Still, you do notice when your mother gives a jaw cracking yawn. She apologizes, mentioning that she's not used to actual battles like what she did yesterday, and it's left her a bit muzzy once we she reapplied her limiters. Ierien also nods a bit, seeming to be a bit sleepy herself, and quietly slips back to her room/cave. You could follow Ierien, stay with your mother, go to your room, or likely exit the cave and do something else.

Spoiler (click to show/hide):

Are you asking me if I want a Bowsette? Dude, I thought you knew me better then this! Of course I DO!

Not sure about her arriving before though. Perhaps she could have met up with the sister and they come together?

At Ierien's comments I explain what I understand of how they control spells, including processes like Valkyrization. Still, the conversation dies down as everyone decides to hit the hay. I join them, searching for a place to call my roost within this cave. I look for a place high up and with a nice warm current just outside for that boost flying either in or out. Not to mention the comfort factor of the heat. As I'm the one would is more acrophilic and flies as a hobby, there shouldn't be much competition for any good spots.

Spoiler (click to show/hide):

She was planned, it's what lead to the addition of the dragons scattered around the world if I recall properly. Didn't know the exact mechanisms though. Sister and Bowsette getting into a brawl just outside the city also seems in character for sister. Also, did we have a preference involving blonde, redhead, and skin tone? I'm assuming we want her amazonian.

The volcano is certainly deep enough for it, although most of the upper section toward the ocean is covered in human built machinery, the occasional hiss of steam audible near them. The visible magma far to the bottom indicates that the warmth does favor the lower aspects, the shear amount of water being pumped in and out sucking most of the heat out of the ocean side. The other side of the outside of the mountain you recall as being terraced farmland fed from some of the steam and waterfall on this side.

Still, up near the top where your mother built her nest and... lunch room, you find a few nearby caves that will function quite well as somewhere to sleep, should you so desire.

Spoiler (click to show/hide):

So why ask? Maybe or maybe they get in a fight, gained respect for each other and offer to bring Bowsette back with her to her family so she can be with other dragons rather then having to fend herself in a strange alien world. I figure that the sister would at least know that Talren had found a safe place for them.

I take one of the closest caves, even if it is small. It can always be expanded, so the position is more important.

I didn't know if you had any particular preferences.

Heading into the cave... there's not much around in it. It's small enough that you could just sleep on the floor without a problem, but that seems... weak. You probably have enough time to go out and buy some things if you wanted, or you could see if Ierien has spells to make stone furniture or something. Still, you've got your cave.

Spoiler (click to show/hide):

Thought to plan was for Ierien to visit him.

It's not like I'll be spending all my time here, considering I did go out of my way to get a home in the city, but I should probably make is somewhat homely. First thing is to make sure the floor is flat, so I rack my claws against it to clean up at least an area big enough for me to sleep. Depending on how long that takes will change what I do from there.

The rock breaks loose in chunks, and you've eventually gotten it mostly done when an 'ahem' at the door reveals Ierien looking in at you a bit dourly.
