She's not equipping herself to fight Talren specifically. Theresa carries a variety of defensive and offensive weapons, several of which would be usable against Talren. If you think very carefully, you might recall something that recently happened that might cause Theresa to want something that disrupts complex spells like Charm that she can wear on her head.

Otherwise, Theresa lacks the reflexes to keep up with someone like Talren or even Judith. She makes up for it with her raw power and an ability I haven't disclosed yet, although I've hinted at it. Theresa's normal fighting 'style' is that she ramps her weight and power up incredibly high and goes full Juggernaut.

Bits of Lorens memories float up, namely that the queen has a requirement to maintain her physical condition, which was an instance of Theresa outsmarting Loren for once. Theresa was a worrier, and she wanted Loren to be able to protect herself, and managed to logic Loren into routinely practicing. Loren's recent memories indicate that she was within the same general range of power as yourself, although she lacked refined control and a willingness to kill. Not that you would fight yourself...

Focusing on the crystal gauntlet, you seek out the small holes in its form, and you can funnel your own mana through it, mimicking the natural stone skin spells you're familiar with. The gauntlet is disrupted, quite badly in fact, but the general principle seems sound. Explaining the concept to Elizabeth, she nods, working her way through it. "If we modify the way the system works, we should be able to make something closer to a studded jacket that you can wear. Much of it will be substandard armor wise, but you should be able to ramp up you weight at least a bit. We can't increase your strength though. The interactions are too complex, and you'd be powering it yourself anyway.

"Still, tell me about your family." She pulls closer to you, wrapping both her arms around one of yours and pulling it close. You become intensely aware that she's nestling her breasts around your arm, and that your hand is resting against where your child is growing.

Also, to be clear, what Talren was actually trying to do is copy that anti-magic field that used his scale as a focus as a potential counter if he finds himself subjected to a field manipulation attack. Though now he's interested if he can control the suit more directly with his mana flow to mimic the Valkyrie's interface.

And finally... He isn't planning to use the weight manipulation on the ground so much... as when he's flying. I.E. lower his weight so he can go even faster, especially when climbing or maneuvering, and heavy when he's swooping on down for a drop kick.

I try to see I can turn the gauntlet on or off, or change how much power it is putting out, as I continue to talk.

"As stated, I'm not too interested in the strength. The weight control would be more ideal," I nod, though I suspect they might not realize how exactly I plan to use it. Even if they did get strength to work, it wouldn't do me any good how I plan to use it.

"There is a lot to tell... Ierin is mischievous, but damn clever, too clever to do anything that would actually be dangerous. Ferien is valiant and fearless, being the only one of us who'd dare to challenge our mom, but she's also quite caring and attentive... Then mom is the most powerful person I've ever even heard about... One thing I should point out here is that I'm only half-dragon, which is where I get my more exotic powers from... She's full dragon."

It's supposed to be a projection of his own natural field, allowing the locals to mimic his resistance, but at the cost of their own magic. It's not an anti-magic field, it's just being used like one as it wrecks any finer controlled magic. The Brights have their own way to do something similar, but it's far less reliable.

I understand that, Elizabeth and Judith don't. Only flight capable species tend to think that way, and all of them tend to already use the weight reduction to some degree or another. I also assume he's strong enough to support, say, ten times his own body weight but will be badly hobbled by trying to deal with it.

Playing with it, it seems to respond the same way many of the other components do, with a simple mana feed. This one seems very limited, and it only goes heavier as you pump more mana into it. Pushing it, you can feel your arm start to struggle to hold up its own weight, although the crystals on the back begin to vibrate and glow. Backing down, it seems that these crystals are not as fully refined as what the weapons and such that can be created. Likely, an experiment or variant of the common weight controlling system. A quick query says that it has to do with how the thing is defined. With your preference for the 'manual' controls involving the mana feeds, Elizabeth says she can whip you up a suit that should allow you to adjust your weight on the fly, although if you just want to channel it into your fist or something, you'll likely need independent control. The local spells also seem to favor either complexity or power, and trading one for the other is viable.

Judith seems stunned by the news that you're only half dragon. "So what is your other half?" She seems curious about your history as well. "And I would like to meet this Ferien." It seems discussing your sister has issued a challenge to Judith. Elizabeth seems more curious about the exotic magics you are discussing. "Oh, and what are these powers." She seems to be very very curious of a sudden, and begins to approach you with... tools of some kind.

It was described as a field, hence why he thought he might be able to use it to 'jam' the field being generated. As stated, he's testing methods to escape should he get hit by say a times 20 gravity field or something.

Well, sure, hence why he commented that they aren't thinking like he is. I just wanted to make sure you understood where he was coming from. As for his strength... maybe more... in reality he's not really that heavy, as he is suppose to fly, hence why he's not full beefcake, but he can still carry over a ton, though at ten times, he'd certainly not be able to run around and do any quick dodges... he'd pretty much be limited to a regular human's walking speed.

I give a wry smile, "Human, actually. And as I said before, I think you and Ferien would get along well... She... can be crude in her language, but she's doesn't mean any harm by it."
Laughing at Elizabeth's movements before answering, "Well, you already seen my transformation, though not the full range of it. I also have my dragon breath, which, if you saw that ship that was dragged in from the mission Jillian was on, you can see what that can do, though it is no where near what my mom can do... If she used her breath weapon on that ship, it wouldn't be recoverable."

A better way to describe it might be that the magic creates a field of localized adjusted gravitational constant. The field is the field, although making it large takes an absurd amount of power, hence creating a 'self contained' one that only operates within a suit. The field of altered gravity is non-magical in nature, the magical system that creates that system is absolutely something he could manipulate or disrupt. Since all of the suits are, well, suits, he'll have easy access to any attempt to capture him with one, allowing him to disrupt it. A point source of gravitational alteration, while doable, would be horrendously power hungry and would either require Theresa with backup gear, or the equivalent of a portable generator, and would only have a few meters of range before the effect dropped off. Altering physics is expensive, and physics doesn't take kindly to being told what to do. A more likely scenario that's viable would be some kind of cage that has the effect in it. Avoid climbing into large clear chambers with large power conduits running to them.

So, he's squat lift a car strong, but not juggle a car strong, yeah?

"I look forward to meeting her. Although, maybe wait to spar in a while." Her mind seems to return for a bit, and she rubs at her still flat stomach. "Still, I would like to know more, do your kind have differing elemental alignments? Many creatures here favor several types of magic, although most only attack with one or two. I've seen a variety of magics from you."

Elizabeth's eyes light up at your description, and before you finish speaking she's stuck her fingers in your mouth and is probing at your teeth! "Perhaps the spell components are contained in the teeth?" She mutters to herself, Judith too stunned by this turn of events to help you. Elizabeth tries to spread your jaws open wider so she can look inside of your mouth, her face getting far too close to yours.

I understand that, which is why when you first mentioned I said it made sense... but what Talren is trying to do, he is extend his magic resistance outwards to encompass the thing producing the effect, thus disrupting it. And I was more thinking like gravity bolas.

Yeah, pretty much, though I think he can probably throw a car couple of yards type of thing.

I chuckle, before pointing out, "Yeah, well, unfortunately I don't think I can get her here for quite some time," Nodding at her follow up question I explain, "We do, though it isn't quite as strict as with other creatures... It more dictates our resistances and our dragon breath then what magic we can and can't do. I'm a fire dragon, for example, so I can literally swim in lava and be fine, but I can suffer from hypothermia very easily when it gets below freezing... This stays in this room by the way."

"Why tha teef?" I try to force out through her hands as I try to grab her hands and pull them out without hurting her, which is doubly hard due to how sharp my teeth are. God damn... she's getting really into this... Fine if that is how she wants to play. I wrap one of my hands around her neck and pull her forward just slightly more, as my tongue lashes out and licks her across the face. I hope that's enough to surprise her so I can get back.

It would depend on the quality of the crystal in question. The crystal does several things, but it also hardens the magic against being disrupted. The 'woven' crystal can carry the spell, but it won't harden it against disruption. The rigid crystals in this particular unit are moderately strong and can resist his magical disruption field up to a certain point, but they also weren't built with combat in mind, they're an experiment by Elizabeth.

"They're rigid enough to resi-GAH!" She says as you grab her head and give her face a lick. She blinks backing away slightly and wiping at her face covered in dragon drool. "Why would you do that?!" She says, affronted at your audacity of not letting her poke you at her every whim. Loren's interactions bubble to the surface of your memory, Elizabeth is very intelligent, but lacks... impulse control. Remembering the offer form last night, you can't say that her memory is off at all.

Judith intercedes on your behalf. "Elizabeth, we've talked about this. You can't go poking people without their permission." This is an old argument. Judith looks back at you, an appraising look lingering on her face as she glances toward your tongue. Oh my, you're going to be getting some requests later it seems.

"Why would you do THAT?" I retort, "If you're going to be unreasonable, then I can match it. Besides, you could hurt yourself."

I shrug my shoulders in concession. It milady wishes it, then I shall oblige.

Elizabeth continues to sputter in indignation as she tries to wipe the slobber off her face. "Ick, it's all sticky." Elizabeth heads over to bathroom she's got stashed away to minimize time away from the lab, and Judith grabs your hand, dragging you outside so that Elizabeth will come back and get distracted by something shiny. You could resist her of course, and try to work through... whatever is wrong with Elizabeth. Or you could move on toward getting ready for your trip to the oracle, it's getting closer to the launch time.

I let Judith guide me out, "Well that was... intense... Loren didn't warn me she'd be quite so handsy... Anyways... We're heading to the Oracle soon, right? What do I need to bring, and what should I keep in mind?"

"Elizabeth is stressed right now. Her impulse control gets worse when she's like that. Theresa has a bunch of requests coming in, and Elizabeth is stubborn and doesn't want to let anyone else use her equipment. If she knew how to delegate properly, she'd be in much better shape." The irony is palpable in Judith's statement.

"For the most part, you shouldn't need to worry about too much. I'm going to be presenting part of you, and Theresa is going to be taking the primary credit because of what happened. I know we'll be going with the elven delegation, but as long as you don't get too close to them, it shouldn't be difficult to not bother them. Per the treaty, many of the surrounding nations get a 'turn' to be hosted and have their delegation meet the Oracle. It's the elves turn, so we'll be traveling with them. We'll take a medium airship with low signatures to land in close and then walk in. I suppose you could fly ahead. We'll be taking our turn after the elves, and they'll be separated once they're completed and will wait for us afterwards." Judith tells you. She seems a bit nervous, perhaps about bringing home a new boyfriend.

"I'm going to have to see if I can get through to her," I sigh, shaking my head.

"Elves, huh? I'd never met an elf before... the one who helped Theresa out, but I know my mom had a good friend that was an elf, so I've heard plenty of good things about them," I idly comment, remembering a bitter memory about another handsy researcher, this one who seemed to have no qualms about having attempted to murder me.

Well... you haven't been telling me shit about the meeting with the Oracle so if you did... I have no idea... Except for the fact that you floated the idea that since the Oracle does indeed have some of Loren's eggs, it would be possible for Talren to impregnate them.

Also, weren't we going to have the elven princesses be friends of Loren when she was alive, or not?

If you want, that'd be fine. They certainly won't recognize Talren though. Did we have pictures? NVM, I found them. Let me know if I've grabbed the wrong ones.

Also, were you planning to have Loren seduce them or something? Also also, we should probably establish Loren and Talren's genetic relationship. I'm thinking it will be the equivalent to a double half sibling: as if Talren's mother and Loren's mother had had a baby together, rather than as if she's the child of Talren and Loren. Let me know if you disagree.

Heading to the preparation room, you manage to catch the elven delegation as they leave the throne room with Theresa. "-and I want you to know that if anything is still bothering you, you can come to me." A long haired beauty is hanging next to Theresa as the three and their retainers walk out of the throne room. "I know, but it's still a little bit of a sore spot." Theresa tells Azalea, who's name floats to the top of your memory from Loren's knowledge.

The two elf sisters are heading toward the preparation area, a heavily gunned airship waiting just around the corner for the different parties. The detestable elf/demon woman is there as well, although she doesn't look at you. Laika is there with a small package as well, which she presents to one of Theresa's guards/errand girls. You notice that neither of them is Gabby, although it would be odd to do that... you should probably check on her at some point.

It's more whether or not Talren would recognize/know a bit about them... as well since he shares the same emotional connections with people as Loren, how fervently he'll try to get to know them. Also correct picture.

No, not particularly, I'm actually probably not going to have too much Loren seducing people, as that's not my preference, so if anything it'll probably be Talren leads, then perhaps Loren gets some when they meet up again.

Seeing the elves, specifically Azalea and Chris, I almost immediately call out to them but stop myself. After they head some distance away, I comment to Judith, "This whole duel person thing is a massive headache. I know people, and want to talk to them, but I can't because they won't know me."

Noticing Gabby isn't here, I recall I do have a communication... thing, so I'll call her when I have time alone... And Miki, now that I think about it.

"Ah, that'll do it. I'm sure that Jillian was super excited when you hugged her. I know Loren too well to say she didn't want to hug her." Judith begins to smirk slightly at you, which annoys you for some reason. You did have the urge to hug Jillian, but that's not the point!

Theresa spots you with Judith, waving the two of you over. Jillian rushes out of the castle, jogging toward the medium sized airship. She leaps up the stairs three at a time, and hands Theresa a small crystal storage device, something that holds all the information that is well documented. Everyone else is boarding the ship, and unless you have something else you'd rather do right now, you can climb aboard and begin the ride. Once aboard, who you decide to spend time with is up to you.

"Yeah well... She's still not great with me, but hey, at least she's not trying to kill me," I choke down the words, anymore, 'less I worry her, besides, I don't want to have to explain that fiasco... though I really need to to Theresa... "Anyways, it does give me a need to let Loren 'out' though, as Jillian wants to cuddle her and her alone."

I head over to Theresa, pulling her aside to whisper, "I'm not sure Judith told you, but I have something to talk with you about concerning that mission I helped out on and Jillian." If she wants to do it now, then I'll oblige her, otherwise, I guess I take for a walk around the ship, and call Gabby and Miki to check up on them.

"Well, I can't say I mind having you to myself a bit more. Jillian doesn't know what she's missing though." Judith says, giving your arm a stroke and smiling. Well, she's in for a surprise if what Loren recalls about her more draconic form is what you think it was. Her mind is a bit fuzzy, as she's not used to it. But, if Jillian is anywhere near as aggressive as Judith was, the two sisters might share more than a cursory appearance in a few months.

Theresa joins you, separating from the two elves, but does take the time to introduce you to the two elves, making sure that you now have a reason to talk to them again if you want. She steps into a side room with you, but flags Jillian and Judith down. The four of you are in a tight area, and you struggle not to react, but Theresa begins a quick summary.

"Jillian was attacked by some kind of strange mind altering magic this morning, and Talren's latest... form was the victim. Whatever the mind magic was, it is very sensitive, as simply being near his claws was enough to cause it to waver based on the recordings. I've brought them with us, we'll see if the Oracle knows what the thing is. I've already put Elizabeth onto figuring out ways to disrupt it, and she says she's gotten started with a set of modified scales that Talren was kind enough to donate." Theresa gives you a warm smile, and you get the feeling that the fact that Elizabeth offered to trade for them was mentioned and your refusal won some points from Theresa.

Theresa runs a hand through her hair as she establishes the plan for the Oracle visit. "We'll let the elves go first and then leave. They won't be leaving without us, but I want some privacy. Hopefully, the information we've brought is enough to balance out accidentally destroying the equipment we borrowed. I know you want to bring your family over, and we will need a lot of [credits] to borrow or purchase that kind of equipment... But I need to ensure protection for my people. If I have to make a decision on purchasing a defense against this charm magic to protect my people and the equipment to bring your family over..." Theresa looks like she's in pain. The choice between those that depend on her, and some one she's promised to help...

"Talren... I suspect we could pass you off as [Allied Species 003] as the Oracle knows them, but I think the writing I saw listed them as [wyrm]. Based on the name, if you can fake being this species, you can probably lay claim to any left over resources they had. Hopefully that will be enough when combined with any [credit] we have left to get everything we need. Any questions?" Theresa has this in pretty good hands it seems. You understand the bits of ancient she used, but beyond the basic meaning, the words aren't reminding Loren of anything. Loren was much more interested in behavior information and proper governance concepts than historical foot notes.

"If you consider being stabbed in the chest being a 'victim' of mind altering, then yeah," I shrug, "And what can I say... She desperately wanted it, and I just couldn't say no to her."

"I mean... if you want I can always just kill the thing, and we can take the equipment and records for ourselves," I propose, not really wanting to be subject to the whims of a creature whom I'm not entirely sure isn't an enemy.

"Wyrms? If that's referring to what I think it is, then fucking hell, what the hell happened to them?" I comment.

All of them freeze and look at you. "...Do you know how to operate this equipment?" Theresa finally counters. You don't. And you're pretty sure that what bits and pieces you do recall from Loren involve getting permissions. With the complexity of these components, it would be childs play to build in a self destruct or something similar. "Actually, hold that thought." Theresa begins to pull out a small crystal, something Loren recognizes as one of the purchases that an ancestor made, the Bright's Bow. Holding it up, it reminds you of the spell crystal that Elizabeth presented to you, except that instead of a carefully woven spell layout it's just a cloudy... focusing, you make out hairline trails within the crystal, which is itself almost invisible.

Experimentally, you supply a bit of magic and the crystal begins to softly hum. It soaks up the magic, the clear crystal beginning to glow faintly as you fill it with mana. There's dozens, if not hundreds of nodes that can be fed to trigger effects, although there's also some that interface directly with the surface of the crystal. A memory burbles up and you say [Kinetic strike] and the crystal begins to reshape itself slightly. A depression forms in front of it, and a bit of conjuration magic creates a tiny spear the size of your finger. Another effect becomes evident as well, two staffs of light forming above and below, mimicking the appearance of a bow, a small light lit at the back of it that bits of Loren's memories tell you is the firing mechanism. This was the source of the so called 'thunder stones' but the way the spell flows around you is disturbing. The spells seem almost alive, bending and flowing around the distortion created by you.

The quality of this weapon is absurd compared to what you've seen even Elizabeth put out. You recall that the Oracle also made the equipment that brought you to this world. And it was destroyed in the process. While it may not have been planned around that, you are confident you know enough about Elizabeth's skill to say that she could probably never produce anything like this, much less something that can tear holes in reality.

Continuing on, "I don't know. I asked the Oracle what possibilities might impede the spell, and she mentioned a few species which resist magic and other possible obstacles. [Wyrms] were covered in scales and could breath lightning and pure light if I'm not mixing them up with a different species." That's... suspiciously similar to a few different breeds of dragon.

"Fine... we can wait until we get my family over then we can crush her if needed," I shrug, "I'm sure my mom would have no problem figuring this stuff out."


"Hmm... sounds like a sky dragon of some description... They're not as durable, but they're much faster, and their breath weapon can be excessively deadly, due to their raw speed," I explain what I think they are. Sky dragons are a pain to deal with for other dragons, as while they lack the raw power to cause significant injury... good luck hitting one... or even catching up with one. They can fly well above the clouds, which is my limit, while retaining their speed. Luckily though, they have a completely different habitat than fire dragons so we don't have to worry about having to deal with them.
