Ierien glares over your shoulder at Theresa, before Theresa gives you a light tap. "I think we can settle this in a ring if you're okay with it." Theresa's face is tight, and her smile is more than a little fixed with a slight aggressive nature to it. Ierien perks up, but struggles against you more. "She wants to fight Talren, let me show the little human what for." You're inexperienced in this sort of thing, but this definitely feels like a challenge thing going on. If you want to give one or the other some advice or limitations, now is probably your chance.

"Please do," I state, not being clear to which one I responded to. Recalling the device that Judith had when we dueled that stopped fatal injuries, I insist on that. I then add that there is no flying, or using weapons or spells that can significantly damage the castle. Last thing I need is Ierien to try to blow up the castle in a fit of rage. It'll be best two out three, a round being decided at drawing of blood, surrender, or being thrown onto the floor.

Spoiler (click to show/hide):

Aw, not gonna let Theresa hammer Ierien? I was going to have Ierien be more of a glass cannon type mage, well compared to Talren and the lot. She'd still be a lot tougher than a human, but Theresa has a strong advantage in a fight like this, at least if she was allowed to bleed, as her pain tolerance is insane. That said, I would still put the advantage to Theresa, as she's got a much wider variety of practiced combat skills, and is actually versed in fighting mages. I don't picture Ierien as someone that would deign to learn proper martial arts techniques or instincts, so while Ierien technically has a speed advantage, her total lack of training means she stops to think about it whereas Theresa relies on muscle memory and a slightly enhanced reaction speed.

The two women square off in a ring, Theresa in her full bodied skin suit and Ierien in whatever she's decided was comfortable. Theresa does... something, several choice parts of the skin suit visibly rigidizing and hardening. Not full body armor, but enough rigid parts to act as guards from Ierien's claws. Without the armor, you're not too worried about Theresa hurting or crippling Ierien, although how much she's going to hold back is another question.

At the start, Ierien begins to weave something with a single hand as Theresa charges her, boosting her strength a moderate amount. Once close, with Ierien beginning to back away to gain time for her spell form to finish, Theresa does that thing where she rips all the mana out of the room, making you wince as the reality is suddenly dull and almost lifeless. Ierien though, has her entire spell form shattered, and is so stunned that she barely gets a hand up in time to block Theresa's first blow, but not enough to recognize a grab before the dragons guard is forced down as the queen spikes her weight and strength, leading into a haymaker that sees a spurt of blood leave her mouth. Ierien breaks the rules at that point, lashing out at Theresa with claws and tail, which Theresa blocks, but not before Ieriens claws sink into Theresa's forearm. This leads your poor draconic sister into another opening, this time, Theresa favoring a knee to the gut followed by a focused headbutt to the nose which sends Ierien to the ground.

Despite the broken rules, Theresa doesn't seem as bothered as the dazed Ierien, who demonstrates that complex spells are very difficult to cast through a mild concussion or having someone rip the forming mana out of your grasp. And that is certainly one advantage of the crystal magic. Pulling her arm up, Theresa visibly forces healing magic into it, the claw marks closing as very little blood escapes and the skin suit actually begins to repair itself. Ierien finally manages to get up, glaring at you, "Why did you tell me she had anit-magic!" She hisses. Technically, you could declare the match over, as Theresa both drew blood and put Ierien on the ground, despite the dragons abandonment of the rules.

Spoiler (click to show/hide):

He's more aiming for her pride to be battered then her to be physically hurt. She is his sister after all. The idea with the best two out of three is that she can go, "Oh she got lucky, all I have to do is this and..." before she gets flattened again. Not to mention I'm assuming she's not using the axe and more her fists so it'd take a lot to draw blood and with her pride she'd do everything she can to prevent herself form being laid out, meaning Theresa can still work her over.

"First point Theresa," I declare impartially. As Ierien recovers and decides to blame me I simply retort coldly, "When did you ask? You picked a fight and didn't even attempt to gauge what your opponent could do. Why is this my problem?"

Spoiler (click to show/hide):

Yeah, I wouldn't expect Theresa to use the axe outside of practice. Even if she doesn't turn on the blackhole axe blade part (which would absolutely dismember Ierien), it's still a huge mass of uru with selective gravity. I was also considering having her whip out her pistol and fire a fifty pound glob of magma at point blank range. Even if the heat isn't dangerous, it's still a huge wad of dense matter at a pretty good speed. Also, Ierien is very much slipping into a sibling 'how dare you treat me like I'm an asshole, just because I'm being an asshole!' mode.

Ierien glares at you, shaking her head slightly as she pumps up her natural healing magic before she starts funneling it into the natural toughening spell. Theresa sees this, and raises her head, "well, if we're not playing with kid gloves anymore..." before the strange spatial magic around her inverts, the armor she wore just a few hours ago and baptized in the blood of Void Spawn is once more on her. It's hard to see, a strange prism like effect hiding the actual transition, but the thick, grey uru plates are definitely intimidating. Studying it more closely this time, you catch a glimpse of liquid silver flowing under a few of them, and the fact that the armor appears to be self supporting is apparent. That armor has to weigh easily twice what she does. It's also far more intimidating than the body suit, although you're sad to see the form fitting attire disappear.

Theresa begins gathering mana, and you feel the shift from gentle currents of mana to a waterfall flooding into the Queen of Eclan as you see her start pouring the magic into her Avalanche aura spell. It's got an odd mix compared to what you're used to seeing, but you suppose the uru compensates for a great deal of weight and toughness all on its own. She's still not going 100%, but she's definitely pushing hard. Ierien actually seems a bit intimidated as Theresa rolls her neck and flips the helmet cover down, the translucent eyes flashing a purple light as the red gem on her forehead flares in some kind of mind protecting aura. When she puts her guard up, you can see something new, two small blackish red gems nestled on the gloves right between her index and middle finger. It doesn't look like Ierien spotted those, as she's too busy glancing over the complex flows of magic running across the armor like bolts of lightning.

You could still probably stop this if you wanted, but it seems like you and Theresa are on the same wavelength about Ierien needing her pride lowered a few pegs. You're suddenly reminded of the trip to the museum, and how the horror in the voice of one of the rebels at it being confronted by Theresa, reminded you that Theresa has spent years of her life in a dueling ring with uppity nobles with dozens of tricks. You'd like to think your sister is better than that, but... well, here the three of you are.

Spoiler (click to show/hide):

I mean fair enough, but Ierien really needs that right not in order to realize being an asshole isn't going to make anyone happy, least of all her.

I'm not going to call the match early unless Ierien actually forfeits, but something tells me she's not mature enough to admit she's in a really bad situation. After all the whole point of this is to get it through her thick skull. Stopping now erodes that point.

Ierien seems to have wised up that she is maybe a little outmatched in physical combat here as she takes her stance, a little further away from Theresa this time. She swallows heavily as she stares down the queen and seems to be looking for flaws in the new armor that Theresa is using. It has minor damage from when the two of you advanced on a dug in Void Weaver, but most if not all of the badly damaged parts seem to have been replaced, even if the scorch marks haven't all been buffed out.

At the mark, Ierien wisely jumps back as Theresa begins to advance once more, leading with a dragonbolt at Theresa's raised half shield. The bolt impacts, a gout of flame and Theresa stumbles slightly, the impact force incredible, as Ierien tries to see what kind of damage she did, eyes going wide as saucers as the minor dent in the shield is the only visible sign of the impact as Theresa starts to really pour on the magical power. Before that, Ierien manages to bark out a word of power, a translucent shield forming in front of her as she starts letting one hand begin making signs. The queen begins... flexing her mana draw, randomly increasing and decreasing the amount of pull on the mana in the room, making it difficult to weave mana into proper spell forms before Ierien's suddenly forced to deal with the multi-ton object slamming into her shield.

Theresa leads with a full bodies flying punch into the shield, which ripples and you can see it ripping magical power and transferring some of the stress to Ierien who grunts and strains to maintain the shield, whatever attack the dragon was preparing abandoned as she realizes the shield will not hold for long. Theresa leads with two shoving punches, driving Ierien back, her talons digging rents in the floor as the shield transfers more of the power it's trying to absorb into the caster. Theresa does a big wind up, and you recognize the build up of force and wind magic before her arm actually blurs, striking the shield once more before it ripples a bit too far, rupturing. And like that, Ierien has to deal with backlash of having a spell broken as Theresa closes the distance.

This time, rather than going for a quick busted lip, Theresa lays into Ierien with a rolling combination of strikes, massive bruises forming on the skin she's got revealed as Theresa focuses on doing damage while keeping the blood on the inside. The dragon girl eventually falters, falling to the ground as Theresa sits on her fallen foes stomach, knocking the wind out of her and giving her two hammering blows to the head, crating the stone floor around her horns before drawing back her left fist, the cluster of another boosted punch building, and you see the fear take over as she begins frantically trying to weave a spell, a single dragon bolt hammering Theresa in the shoulder before the queen drives her fist into the ground next to the downed dragon's head.

Theresa gets up after a second, popping her helmet and shaking the bits of stone and dragon blood off her hands as she goes for a small bottle of water. Ierien is sitting up, hyperventilating, eyes wide and unseeing as she realizes that while she may be powerful, her power is far from perfect. As much as you like her, Theresa's blows are frighteningly powerful, and you're reminded that with what little you've heard, the only people that pose a challenge for Theresa are those she can't get her hands on in the ring. Finally, shivering before getting to her feet, Ierien is startled when a blue haired girl runs by you, offering her a bottle of water as well, before hitting her with a list of questions. When the hell did Elizabeth get here?

I can't say that I enjoy watching this and as Ierien hits the floor I call out a point for Theresa but it looks like she's not done. I bolt in, trying to bind her joints as I pull her off declaring, "You won the match when she hit the ground, it's over."

Slamming into Theresa, you nearly bounce off of her, she's ramped her weight into the low multiton range and is quite a bit stronger as she lifts her fist for a third strike. Holding her hand seems to either distract her, or possibly push it off course, as her fist rockets into the ground next to Ieriens head as the dragoness stares up at the two of you with very wide fearful eyes. After a moment of staring down at Ierien, Theresa lifts her visor to speak with her, "We have rules for a reason. Deciding to break the rules because you're powerful, and things start breaking down. Those rules keep this from world from being more than just a powerful person bossing weaker people around, which is something I've chosen to prevent." With that she begins to move away from the downed dragon as Elizabeth swoops in with a bottle of water, some healing bandages, and a list of questions as Ierien tries to piece her ego back together.

Theresa moves across the room, toward a small couch, her armor vanishing into the aether as she turns around to sit on it, running a hand through her sweaty hair. The little aether dragon climbs up to her shoulder, puffing out his chest, almost in pride at his ferocious... soul bond? Whatever that interaction is. Theresa pops a top on some bottle of something that smells incredibly sweet and begins to drain it. You could stay with Ierien as she struggles to come with her demotion in the pecking order, or you could go give Theresa a piece of your mind. Of course, Theresa's heavy breathing in a tight body suit while sweating is doing absolutely delightful things with her chest.

I grab Elisa's shoulder, "Give her sometime to recover first." Best to leave Ierien alone myself, then talk to her, so I decide to follow Theresa. "Sorry about my sister. When she's stubborn like that even mother can't get through to her."

Elisa offers the bottle of water and whatever the sweet smelling drink is, but backs off a bit to fret as Ierien develops a little bit of a thousand yard stare, her mind having to go over the fact that certain things she considered true may not be.

Theresa is panting slightly, the little aether dragon really enjoying the motions with its head resting on her chest. At your comment, Theresa cocks her head, "I'm guessing you don't remember Loren's memories, just like she doesn't remember Talrens. That was pretty much a standard noble ego peg lowering, I picked up a bit of a reputation while I was still a princess before the rebellion. Normally, I'd do it purely in the skin suit, but your lot is dangerous enough I had to bring in the armor. Most of the time, if they weren't raised as complete shits, the sudden awareness that they're not that tough and the person tougher is a stickler for the rules makes them gain a sudden appreciation for concepts like 'rule of law' that prevent people with significant power from abusing it. Something my twin sister taught me." She gives you a tight smile, mostly because she's still winding down from the raw adrenaline of the fight.

Giving her head a little shake, she looks back to you. "So, pretty sure it was the discussion of a marriage between us that kicked that whole thing off. Diana is adamant one of us marry you into the family, and she doesn't much care which of us it is. I..." Is... is Theresa starting to blush? "I... would be willing for the man who brought me my sister back." Yes, she's definitely blushing as her eyes flick to your face, something the little aether dragon seems to take exception to, climbing up onto her unaware shoulder and flaring its little wings and either roaring or hissing at you. It hasn't seemed to work out how to send sound equivalents yet.

Spoiler (click to show/hide):

I'm fairly positive that we had Theresa as a bit of Tsundere when it came to actual sexual or romance matters, especially after she got caught fingering herself to a dirty video. She's a princess/queen, so marriage is something that is more of a business/alliance thing, but I wanted a clear discussion of the fact that Theresa is making the offer on a personal level beyond a political expediency angle.

Also, the aether dragon is a jealous little guy, likes having Theresa handle his shaft, but is willing to let most attractive women wrap their fingers around it.

"If I did I would not needed to ask about what Dukes and Counts were, now would I?" I point out with a chuckle. An amused grin worked its way onto my face before I notice the petulants of the little drake. I shoot it a look to indicate that I am more then willing to give him the same treatment that my sister went through as I complement the many ways I can tease Theresa about it. "Well that's too bad," I start with a shrug, "I wouldn't want to force someone who is only accepting because she got her beloved sister back. Besides as I recall your hand is reserved for those who commands an army, and I only have myself to command into battle. Oh well, I'm sure I can get one of the others to love me for my rugged charm. Perhaps Eliza?"
Spoiler (click to show/hide):

Yeah, but let's be honest. Talren is never going to put up with a Tsundere, and is going to call her on it, forcing her to either storm off angry and be honest.

He better hope that he doesn't piss of Talren enough where he researches ways to destroy him while keeping the enchantment on the axe. Cause yeah, Talren is not a patient man.

Spoiler (click to show/hide):

I thought we covered the idea that Theresa was never going to be a lovey dovey kind of girl? It was always going to be a political marriage with a fuckbuddy, as she's too duty bound/obsessed to put her own personal opinions above what she thinks will help her kingdom. Tsundere might also be the wrong term. She's supposed to be a mix of calm/controlled/regal with a bit of barely restrained fury when her temper gets up. Love/sex just makes her nervous.

Also, Talren now has a form that can get the axe's attention.

Theresa's face is slowly turning crimson as she discusses this with you, but it doesn't seem to be rage. Grumbling slightly, "Well, you're worth an army. And... it's not an exchanged favor. You... you didn't have to bring her back, you probably could have gotten some serious power if you'd asked for it. Instead... you made a wish that was a lot more selfless than I expected of you. I... I wasn't expecting to actually get the chance to find a husband I liked and respected in addition to being politically viable." She's now looking down, glancing at her fingers as she struggles with something. "If... if you think I'm not good enough, I can see why you'd prefer Eliza." Theresa, queen of a nation, butcher of heirs, and someone who has been feeding voidspawn to the 'grinding chaos' seems to shrink in on herself, taking your teasing much more personally than you expected. The little aether dragon takes this in, before turning a glare on you, seeming to be very upset that you've made Theresa sad.

Out of the corner of your eye, you catch Elizabeth helping Ierien to her feet. Ierien has several of those crystal patches applied to her face, the raw life magic radiating out of them as they slowly dissolve into her flesh.

Spoiler (click to show/hide):

Also tonight might be a good time for Ierien to ask Talren for comfort since she's still bummed out and that turns to sex.

Stunned by how she took it I let out a long sigh before whupping her on top of her head, before pulling her into a hug, "Now when did I say you weren't good enough? I said I didn't want to force you to do anything you didn't want to do. How does you not being good enough follow from that?" I retort her point, gently stroking her hair, "Of course you're good enough, I want you to want to be with me and not just force yourself." I break the hug so I can look her in the eye, "So do you want to marry me?"

Sure, makes sense to me.

She seems startled, both by the head bop and the hug, although her arms soon wrap around you as she returns the hug. Speaking into your shoulder, "well... you're not forcing it on me. I... I do need to get married at some point, and I think you would... make a good husband." She looks away, her face remaining crimson as she stumbles over the emotional issues she's had. It seems like 'wanting' to get married is a very new concept for her. "You're handsome, potent, and powerful... you could stand to be a bit nicer though." she rubs at the top of her head a little. Course, she did give you a couple of nice compliments in there too.

She continues to maintain the bright red color as she works her jaw, embarrassment and general emotional resistance to saying how she feels about anything warring with her honesty. "Yes... I want to marry you." She finally manages to grind out. Probably best not to push it, she does have a temper and the magical might to put you through a stone wall. Of course, there's the old adage about living safely or having an exciting life, and you bet that Theresa could engage in quite the exciting life if you tease her more.
