I'm surprised, but pleased with Rowan's change from yesterday. It's good to see her, if perhaps not entirely fine, then at least in much better mood than yesterday. When she explains that the quaggoth spoke to her in elvish, it doesn't surprise me... he was reacting to my words in that language yesterday, and I suppose the drow have to give them order somewhat, and they are still elves. However, when he introduces himself, I'm outright shocked.

For I moment, I'm not sure how to react and just stare at him like an idiot. Is this supposed to be some kind of a joke? However, his mannerism and speech are too at odds with his monstrous visage. I was expecting him to behave like a, well, beast, though perhaps not to such a degree as Buppido suggested. I have to hear what's going on. I finally wake from my shock and shake his hand. "I'm sorry, I just wasn't expecting that. I'm... pleased to meet you?" I sound a bit unsure, but given the circumstances, I hope it's understandable.

Derendil laughs at your confusions, "Ah yes, your friend had the same reaction. In spite of what I may look like, I am actually an elf. Before I was captured, I was traveling to Waterdeep for a diplomatic mission, when all of a sudden we were set upon by gnolls. The rest of my envoy were slaughtered, but I had managed to make my escape into a nearby swamp. Unfortunately, a sinister witch had found me, and cruelly cursed me with this monstrous form. The light then burned, and I was forced to seek refuge within a cave. But my foul luck stayed true to form, and it turned out to be an entrance to a drow outpost. I was captured and taken here. Rather that submit like these other dull beasts, I resisted and outwitted several of my captors. When they finally were able to subdue me, they threw me in here, knowing I was too dangerous otherwise.

I try to avoid the others, since they tend to avoid me, so I was rather shocked when your friend approached me in the first place. Still, I'm glad that she could speak elvish, as you seem to be able to as well. I can't really communicate to the others since that is the only language that I know. It is rather nice being able to hold a conversation again."

"<That's.... unfortunate. I'm Lina Danelis, though Rowan has apparently already told you that. I won't share the tale of our capture, as I think at least some of my friends would prefer to keep the circumstances to ourselves, but I hope it suffice to say that we're a band of adventurers who also had an unlucky encounter with hostile forces, goblinoids, in our case. After our capture, we've been sold to the drow. I'd offer you our help with your transformation, but even if this place wasn't somehow warded against spellcasting, I don't think any of us is powerful enough to break such a curse. However, when... or if we somehow manage to get out of here, I think we could help you to search for a solution, and we have...a curse...of our own to look into.>" I glance at Torga, even though the symbol on her chest is now hidden under the rags she wears, but I don't go into more detail."<I'm not sure if Rowan already did it, but I'd like to introduce you to the rest of our companions.>" I turn towards the other girls and continue in common language "I'm not sure about the proper protocol for such things, but allow me to introduce Derendil, prince of Evermeet, currently transformed into this form by a witch." There's still chance Derendil is lying, but I believe him. He *does* sound more like an elven nobleman than a beast... not that I've had much experience with either... and if this was some sort of trick, there would be some more plausible lies. And honestly, given his effect on Rowan, I would rather go along with the lie than see her in the same state as yesterday again.

If needed, I introduce the girls to Derendil, simply in the order they are sitting in, and add: "<We have another companion, Arara Mystralath, an elven wizard who could possibly give you more advice about your situation, but... the drow priestess took her away. I... hope she's all right.>" My worries about her fate once again shows in both my expression and my voice. As a storyteller, I unfortunately have a rather good imagination.

Torga notices you glancing her way, but doesn't speak any elvish to understand why. The only one of your group present that can is Rowan, who goes dark as she blames herself for Torga's predicament. Derendil appreciates your offer to help if escape becomes an option, and promises to do what he can to make sure that is possible. The girls are confused by the introduction to the furry monster, but introduce themselves in turn. You translate for everyone, everyone to be on the same page. The mood quiet's once again when you bring up Arara, whom is still missing. Your entire party is worried, and Derendil understands how cruel the drow can be.

After a moment of concerned silence, the cosmic timing of fate steps in and forces the gate to the cell open. In stumbles Arara with a couple guards escorting her. Her body is a mess and dried tears stain her face. A cornucopia of welts adorn her body, evidence of a fierce whipping. All she wears at the moment are her bonds, and a leather collar locked around her neck. A brand of a spider has been seared into her left glute, forever marking her as the property of the drow. Cold, coagulated globs of jizz cling to random parts her body, at least when it isn't dripping from any orifice it possibly could, and the strong smell of alcohol offends your senses. She seems dazed, drunk, and confused. Such is the proof of the drow's hatred and disdain for elves.

When I see Rowan's expression as I mention Torga's mark, I almost have to suppress a laugh at the situation. It looks like each of us... perhaps except Seraphina... blames herself for our earlier failure and our current predicament. There's a grain of truth in that, as we've all made mistakes, but the main fault lies with the one who came with that whole plan in the first place.

I hope the girls accept my explanation of Derendil's circumstances, but only time will tell. And only time will tell if he was telling the truth.

When the drow bring Arara in, I'm at the same moment relieved she's still alive and horrified at her state. I spring from my position and rush to her to offer her support, ignoring the guards' presence. I only care about Arara, not trying to reach the gate or do something with the drow, but if they attempt to stop me, I'll reluctantly obey. It's not like I could do anything against them anyway besides clenching my fists in anger. I say "Arara, are you..." as I reach her, but stop myself before I finish. What would I say? "Are you all right?" It's clear she's not. With magic, I could offer her some relief, but here, with whatever effects stopped my previous spellcasting, that's not an option. All I can do is to help her walk, make her sit down and try to make her as comfortable as possible, given the circumstances.

Arara staggers for a bit before collapsing into your arms. The guards don't stop you from catching her, but they do laugh and mock her current state. You carry her back to the group, where they wait with concern. The elf struggles to keep conscious as her exhaustion and inebriation threaten to overtake her. Her bare skin is cold thanks to the slimy and unpleasant substance coating it. Torga looks her over, and tells you all that it's alright. At the very least, her life isn't in any danger. The poor elf just can't seem to handle her liqueur. Combine that with whatever else they did to her, and it's amazing she hadn't already passed out. Arara tries to mumble something to you all, but her weakened and slurred speech are almost incoherent.

I ignore the mess Arara's covered with staining my slave clothes. The most important thing is she's alive and safe. Well, as safe as any of us is at the moment, anyway. I let Torga examine her, and I'm relieved the wizard is relatively unharmed. I don't know what exactly has happened to her, but being this drunk may even be a hidden blessing: Arara may not remember everything that happened to her, and being drunk tends to dull the pain. Until the next morning, at least. I wonder what the drow gave to her. Beverages I'm familiar with would be impossible to made in the Underdark, and stuff imported from the surface would propably be too valuable to waste on a prisoner. Is there such a thing as mushroom booze? Or do they drink something horrible like fermented spiders?

"Calm down, we're here. You're safe, try to rest." I don't think the elf can understand me in my current state, but she needs to rest to recover. I have no doubt our captors will have more unpleasantness in store for us for tomorrow. I wonder if I can do anythimg more for her. My magic, if I could use it, would help with the marks from whipping and ease her pain, but it wouldn't do anything for her drunkedness. Here in the cell, there's no source of water to keep her hydrated... I think I'll share my portion if and when the drow deign to give us any... and there's no way to make the bare rock more comfortable to lie on. I sit next to her start singing the old elven song I've been using for my healing spells. I'm a better storyteller than a singer, and I don't try to use it to focus my magical energy like I've learned to, but I'll try to sing the whole thing instead of the few words sufficient for the spell. Perhaps it'll have some effect, even without the power behind the words. I keep my voice loud enough so Arara can hear me clearly, but low enough to hopefully avoid drawing the drow's attention or annoying the other prisoners. I don't know if it'll actually help Arara, but knowing I'm doing at least something and the belief It may help her in some way helps me to feel a little better.

You speculate on what could possibly have happened to bring her to this state. The thoughts of mushroom and spider liqueur scar your mind with horrible possibilities, but you manage to dismiss them all the same. Instead, you focus your efforts on comforting the elf. The lack of magic limits your capabilities, but that doesn't mean you can't put her at ease.

You start to sing to her. You know that your words carry no power, but you sing anyways. It's an old song, one that your parents used to sing for you when you were little and scared. It is about a young elf afraid of the creatures around it, but eventually grows to befriend them all. It is meant to reflect how heroes aren't build from brawn, power, or gifts from the gods. A hero is made from facing their fears and living their life. You lose yourself in the song as memories of your family rush back to you. When you are done, you look down to see that Arara and managed to curl up to you, hold you close, and snuggle her head onto your lap where she now sleeps peacefully. In that moment, you are reminded of a truth that all bards know. All words have power.

--------------------

A little while later the drow bring in dinner and the water. Your group goes to gather their portions first, then offer to watch Arara while you get yours. More mushroom gruel. When you get back, you see Jimjar standing there as well.

"I know you want her to get some rest," he says, "but you might want to wake her up so she doesn't miss out on food. The drow won't give out second portions to anyone, so she'll need to get it herself if she wants to eat."

The song lets me forget where I am for a moment and return back to happier times, even if only in memories. It's been so long... I've started my adventuring career as an attempt to follow my in my parents' footsteps, and hopefully to find them. Bit of a foolish quest, to think about it... besides our names, I remember little about my family. I don't think I would recognize them even if I've met them, and they definitely wouldn't recognize me... when they left on their adventure, I was just a kid, now I'm... well, better not think about all I am. Tavern wench, perverted slut, a failure both as a leader and as an adventurer, goblin sex toy, drow slave.... I doubt they would be proud of any of that. I hope they would be happy to know I'm still alive, but that's about it. And are they even still alive? And if they are, what were they doing in the years since our separation? Did they have other children... could I have younger siblings I know nothing about? Were they successful and retired to lives of luxury, did they left their adventures behind to settle down, did they end up as failures? The chance I'll find them seem so insignificant right now... all I have left is the song and the keepsake the drow have taken from me.

But the song actually helps me, and it seems it's got a positive effect on Arara as well. Despite the situation being mostly the same, I feel best I've felt since our capture. I even smile as I look at Arara sleeping in my lap, and even though my position is uncomfortable, I keep still not to wake her.

At least until the dinner. After the work the drow has put me through, I am hungry, and more than willing to ignore the disgust at the gruel. I accept the girls' offer and go for my own portion, and keep an eye on the orc, in case he's in a mood to repeat yesterday's stunt. When Jimjar informs me about drow ration policy, I thank him and consider his words. I could wake Arara, but she looks so peaceful right now... the reality wouldn't be so nice. And even if I've dceided to inflict the horrors of local cuisine on her, I'm not sure if she's in a state to go grab her dinner, and then hold it. With how drunk she was, the gruel would likely do her more harm than good. I let her sleep and eat some of my own dinner, keeping the rest for her when she wakes up. We can survive on half ration for a day. It's just as nasty as I remember, and time won't make it any better, but it'll be at least something. I'll leave more water for her, I think she'll appreciate that more.

The meal also reminds me of the failure of my spell from yesterday. There's little evidence of the source of the disruption, but I've got an idea. The prison cave is irregular... perhaps the effect doesn't cover the whole area evenly. If there's some nook I could work magic... it wouldn't change much for me, actually, as drow are still elves and I wouldn't be able put them to sleep, I don't have component... or at least my flute... to channel an illusion through, and my other spells are more-or-less useless in this situation... but it would be something. I could use healing to help Arara, or some magic trick to make the food taste better, like I've tried yesterday. And Arara or Torga could perhaps do more, even without their tools. It's easy to test... just pick a pebble and try a simple spell to change its color in different spots of the cave... even if I'm tired, the magic is easy enough to not exhaust me further, and to retry repeatedly. But I can't do it while the drow are paying attention to us. Perhaps later they'll find more interesting things to do than to watch us sit or lie in here, and I'll get my chance.

Well, it's not like I'm in a hurry.

Even though the vile food does it's best to stem your apatite, you still feel famished after the pointless work from earlier in the day. Tomorrow will be unpleasant, but that still doesn't dissuade you from saving some for Arara. As you eat, you think about how to test the limits of the anti-magic zone in this cell. It'll be hard trying to disguise your actions in this open area. Surely the guards would notice you blatantly wandering from point to point, and figure out that you are up to something. Is there a way to be subtle about it?

Now that you are back care for Arara, the others have started doing their one thing. Rowan continues to converse with Derendil. She seems oddly comfortable with the strange beast. Likewise, Torga continues to talk to her fellow kin, exchanging stories and further exaggerating exploits in order to one up each other. Seraphina has wandered off and seems to have found a spot by the gate for her to hide under. It looks like she's trying to eavesdrop on whatever the guards are saying. Avreene is leaning against a wall for now. She is watching over everyone, the same as you. Though she keeps turning back to you. At first you think that she is just keeping an eye on Arara, though you eventually realize that she might have something she wants to talk about. That will have to wait, however, as you feel the violated elf begin to stir.

The prison is too open to test my magic idea just like that. But there are other options... wait until the guards get distracted by something or too bored to watch us all the time, do it while I'm talking to fellow prisoners away from our group, or just take my time to thoroughly test it... I'm here now, I may be on the other side of the prison in two hours, and elsewhere yet in another three. I consider visiting other prisoners straight away... I want to get to know the rest of them anyway... but I'll rather watch over Arara for now. Avreene is a different matter, as she's from our group, and I'm about to stand up and go to her when I notice Arara is waking up. That's propable more important than anything Avreene wants to talk about, but I just keep watching the elf to wake naturally. No point in rushing her. I don't know how she'll handle the hangover and everything else that happened to her, but I'll be there to comfort her if she needs it.

Arara cuddles up against you as she begins to stir. Her eyes begin to flicker, and she squints as she looks around. Fortunately, there isn't much in the way of bright light to exacerbate her headache, but the hangover still makes itself known. She groans in agony and buries her face in your bosom in an effort to seek comfort.

"Oh gods, my head," she mumbles, "Where am I?"

Though Arara's cuddliness would be welcomed under different circumstances, it's a bit awkward here in the cell. And I wonder if she would something like this if she wasn't drunk. Still, I don't stop her or move away from her, and instead answer her question: "Unfortunately, everything that happened since we've met wasn't just a nightmare, so you're in a drow prison. We're here with you, so you're not alone, but you've got the worst deal out of us all. How are you feeling? I'm not a healer, but I've got some experience with hangovers. Unfortunately, there's no good cure here, so this is the best I can get you right now." I offer her the water I've saved for her, and smile as I can't help myself from trying to lighten up the mood. "You know, I didn't even know elves could fall asleep. I thought all full-blooded elves just meditate or something." Of course, it was more she was unconscious than trully sleeping, but there's nothing helpful about the facts.

"The prison?" She asks before looking about.

"Oh, right..." she mumbles dejectedly. She takes the water from you and tries to guzzle it down before deciding that it is a bad idea. She then continues to take small sips as she tries to sort out her thoughts. However, when she hears your joke about elven meditation, she manages to recover some of her scholarly aura.

"Indeed elves don't need sleep, Ms. Danelis," she says matter of factly, "though I would say that I was more passed out than anything. It's a bit blury, but I would have to guess it was either physical exhaustion, or too much alcohol. Mistress Ilva- Miss Ilvara, used me to relieve her troops, and used cheap wine to keep me from resisting. Oh, but this is important! At one point it became too much for me. Miss Ilvara went to a large chest she keeps in her quarters and grabbed a potion to keep me going. I-i'm not sure, since my memory is fuzzy, but I think I saw the corner of my spellbook."

"That was just a... uh, nevermind. It wasn't especially funny joke anyway." At least her behavior hasn't changed after what she had to endure. Good to have the sage still with us. But as she continues, the information she brings is interesting and important. Arara's spellbook is one of the most important things we've had on us, and at this point, pretty much irreplacable. Sure, Avreene's axe has a great personal value to her, but at the end of the day, she could propably use any other axe just as well in combat. A wizard is almost useless without her spellbook, and replacement would take a lot of gold and time. Knowing where to find it helps, but I would expect Ilvara's personal quarters to be one of the best guarded locations in this outpost. That will make its retrieval during any escape attempt problematic. "Sure, so we'll have to pay a visit to her hideout on our way out. Nothing's easier."

I sigh out loud, but still keep my voice down as I continue. "Sorry. I'd love to promise you we'll get it when we try to escape, but I can't do that with clear conscience. Hells, I propably shouldn't be making any plans in the first place, considering the last time...." Better to change the subject. It's possible, though doubtful in her state, that the elf may have more useful informations, but I won't pry. right now."How are you feeling? Can I do anything for you? Mind you, my options are a tad bit limited right now, but I'll do anything I can to make you feel better."

Arara shakes her head in disagreement, "I understand that, Ms. Danelis, and I do not wish to risk anyone's lives on a foolhardy mission. But I cannot abandon that book. Not only would I be helpless without it, but it is also my life's work. If we do find an opportunity to escape, I will not hesitate to go after what is mine. Besides, my point was more than my book. It was a very large chest. If mistre- miss Ilvara, is keeping our things stored away from her soldiers, than I believe that chest may contain all of it."

When you ask her if there is anything you can do to help her, she looks down at her still naked body. You have managed to ignore this fact while she cuddled up to you, but she is still covered in cold globs of drow jizz that is starting to dry. It will need to be washed off at some point, but you really don't have much in the way of water that you can spare. As you stare at her body, you realize that you might have been staring a little too long, as Arara is beginning to get wet. When you look back to her, he just buries her face into your chest to hide her embarrassment.

"All of our stuff might be there..." you hear Avreene mumble behind you, as if considering something stupid.

"Don't take me wrong, if we see a chance to get our things back, we absolutely should take it, and I consider your spellbook our highest priority in that regard... no offence to anyone else with precious equipment..." I glance at Avreene as I say it. As a weapon, her axe is replacable, as a heirloom, it's not. "But our most important goal should be getting out of here alive. If we have to leave our things behind to do so, so be it. I know it sounds callous from someone who doesn't place much value on her stuff, but those things will be of no use to us if we're dead or enslaved forever. I hope I don't need to remind you we've faced similar decision before, and it ended in disaster. We may be less... fortunate... next time." Now I look at Torga. Last time, she died, or almost died, and the full concequences of that are still unknown to us. "But if you do decide to go there anyway, regardless of risk, you won't be going alone. That I promise. And no, you won't dissuade me from that." I smile at the elf. I can be pretty stubborn too.

"In any case, it is a valuable information. So far, I've seen two possible routes out of here, and neither looks very good... either the lift, which means someone will have to stay up here to operate it, or through the spiderwebs and hope the webs can carry our weight and the spiders aren't too hungry. I don't really have a plan yet, so I'm open to any idea and interested in any other informations you've found." I look over the whole group at the last sentence.

It's hard to ignore Arara's closeness, and I have to force myself not to ogle her too much. In different circumstances....well, I know what I'd like to do to make her feel better. I'm glad the relatively poor lightning in the prison cave helps hiding my blush, and though it's hopefully not noticeable to anyone else, I think Arara may feel my nipples harden... and not from cold... through the thin fabric of the rags I'm wearing, pressed to my bosom as she is. Put together, I don't know if I find the whole situation more awkward or arousing. I try to keep my breathing steady, and I move my hand to hold her, making very sure it doesn't look or feel like I'm groping her. Which I'm most definitely not.

(Persuasion 16) You do what you can to persuade your team that going for the items may be too risky. You might not have ruled anything out, but you don't want to get anyone's hopes up. An escape is risky on it's own, more so by heading into one of the most dangerous places in this camp. Most of your friends seem to agree, but it looks the thought of leaving things behind don't really sit well with Arara or Avreene. They may not be protesting, but they look like they haven't given up on their precious belongings. One is an irreplaceable family heirloom, the other is the culmination of their life's work. They might do something reckless.

You mention the possible escape routes, and unease fills their faces. Neither are great options. The spiderwebs are extremely dangerous. They looked big enough that they might be able to support people's weight, but that isn't a guarantee. And if they are, the are probably occupied by some unnervingly large spiders. The only upside is that the drow probably won't peruse that route. On the other hand, the elevator is far safer, but someone would need to be sacrificed. At least in your party, almost no one seems willing to make that kind of sacrifice just yet besides Seraphina. And even if they were ok with it, who would even be willing to be the sacrifice?

Avreene hesitantly mentions that she did actually get a chance to look at the webs while she was stuck with chores. A portion of them cover the pool at the bottom of the waterfall. If going down that route, then even if the webs are unstable, they may help cushion the fall into the water below. (Insight 5) She seems uneasy about bringing this up, however, and doesn't seem to confident.

In the meantime, the pouting Arara is distracting you by taking solace in your body. She is definitely aware of how turned on she is making you, and seems drunk enough to want you to pay for not going all in on rescuing her spellbook. She might also still be a little aroused from her abuse from earlier. The others don't seem to be aware of what she's doing, but you can feel the way she is rubbing up against you becoming gradually less innocent. At one point during your scheming, you even feel her teeth start to playfully bite at one of your hardened nipples. She seems to notice that you are trying not to take advantage of her, so the cunning drunkard rolls her body in a way that exposes herself a bit more. Not only do you get a better view of her assets, but so does the rest of the party. Even if you thought of retaliating, your actions would be on full display in front of the group, while she hides behind the facade of her less-than-platonic, drunken cuddling. Arara is surprisingly scary when inebriated.

I know Avreene and Arara aren't happy with my suggestion we may leave our equipment behind, but I won't press the matter further now. I wouldn't be surprised if they tried something foolish if we get out of this prison, but I'll deal with that when it happens. What I said to Arara is true... I won't let them do it on their own and do all I can to support them even if it'll look like a fool's errant.

Lack of other useful informations is a bit disappointing, but Avreene's observation make the spiderweb route a bit more viable. If the water's deep enough to cushion a potential fall, good, if not, it doesn't matter if we hit the pool's bottom or just the cavern floor, we're dead either way. I smile at her and try to encourage her. "That's good to know. We need to observe our surroundings and take advantage of any opportunity that present itself and note any potentially useful information if we want to get out of here. Getting out of this prison is only the first step in any escape plan, and the more we know, the better our chances to come up with something that works."

Arara has noticed my arousal, but her reaction is a complete opposite of what I expected. Surprise, perhaps aversion, but she's actually trying to turn me on even more. Is it just the drink, or is our wizard less innocent than she appears? It's hard to tell... the drink certainly plays a role in removing her inhibitions, but how big of a role it is I don't know. We are a bunch of perverts... perhaps excluding Torga... so Arara would fit right in if her prudish behavior was just a facade. She knows very well what she's doing. Either way, I'm not entirely sure how to react to her behavior. On one hand, I'd love to have some naughty fun with her, but on the other, I'm hesitant to take advantage of a clearly drunken friend. Our situation and the presence of the other girls make the decision easier, as the former isn't really an option. But I can't think of a way to stop her without revealing what's going on either. I'll have to resist her advances, hard as it is. I'll have to get back at her for this when the situation will be better suited for such things. When it looks like the other girls aren't focusing their full attention at us and I can get away with it, I pinch the elf lightly and whisper into her ear in elven: <"You sneaky little witch.">

It is true that you don't know her very well, and that she may have been hiding this side from you. Certainly, you've had more conversations with the others. Still, it seems hard to believe that she would so readily drop her facade if this what she was hiding. Even under the influence of alcohol. Maybe she herself isn't aware of this side of herself. Hard to experience sexual discovery when you are sequestered away, after all. Or perhaps it wasn't just alcohol that she was drugged with? Who knows what nasty tricks the drow have up their sleeves.

You pinch her while the others are distracted by debating which route is better. She does her best to hide a squeak, and it seems the others are too busy to notice. However, inspire of you trying to deescalate this, she seems to take your chastising as encouragement. You see the drunk elf flash a coy smile as she bites on her lip. The way she is propping herself up to tease your breasts has also allowed her to slip an arm into your lap unnoticed. You can feel her hand caress your inner thigh as her tongue traces itself around the areola of one of your nipples. Her hand creeps ever closer until it reaches the lips of your labia from the outside of your loose prison slacks.

Around this time, Torga turns from the conversation to check up on you. It seems you have been a little too quiet during this conversation. "That doesn't sound like a bad idea, right?" she asks you. It seems she hasn't noticed what the horny wizard is doing to you. That you are being molested, right in front of her, without her being the wiser.
