The Guardian gave your question a moment to sink in. "Indeed I would prefer to have someone look over them as well. But we Paladins of the Tower of Elysium are under orders to reject all those who fail the trials into Perdition. These are orders from high up ..... Wait a minute. Did you just say Lucien. The Demon Lord has broken from his prison!?" He said with a worried tone.

It seemed they didn't have a choice though she did wonder why the higher ups would want to put the maidens somewhere where Lucien had access to them. Then she got a shock. "Yes, He's free and spreading his marks. The woman camped out at the base of the tower informed me he came here from time to time to gather maidens." They weren't even aware Lucien was on the loose. She'd have thought they'd notice an increase in the number of maidens attempting these trials since he broke free, but maybe not many were finding the place. "Just...how long have you all been stationed here?"

"Centuries" The Guardian said with a solemn voice. "We paladins were tasked with defended the holy weapon at the top and bottom of this tower. At first it was merely remnants of the Demon's forces. But time went by and things got quiet. We died but our bodies remained to uphold our pledge. There have been a few new challengers but we paid no mind to where they were coming from." The Guardian stood and opened the passage for you. "If Lucian has returned then it is imperative that you claim the prize at the top of the tower."

"Holy weapons at the top and bottom? I was led to believe the weapon at the bottom of the tower held the power of the Dark Ones which doesn't sound particularly holy to me." She was a bit confused about that. Was this another case of something changing since they were set to their post, and they simply didn't know about it? She smiled and nodded as he urged her on to gather the weapon. "Thank you for the encouragement. I would hope it would come with some kind of boon, but I assume that violates your vows in some way." Whatever he had left to say, Once they were finished talking, Aisha would take her leave on her way to the next trial.

"I misspoke. The blade kept in the bottom of the tower was once sacred. Before it was defiled by dark magic." The guardian said with a sad expression. "Best of luck young lion" He says bidding you a fond farewell.

Moving up the stairs, you reach the next floor. You are confronted by three doors in an extremely small room. One going forward, one to the left and one to the right.

Aisha gives a nod as the skeleton clarifies. "Ahh, I understand. Thank you, and good luck with whatever happens to you when I have that weapon in my hot little hands." With a confident smirk, she ran to the steps and took them two at a time.

Reaching the top, she wondered which door to take. The doors looked the same again, but this time, none of them were already part way open. Having nothing to go on, she decided to go to the door on the right opening it a crack to take a peek inside.

The moment you crack open the right door, you hear the other two doors lock automatically.

Spot Roll [Wis, Average]: 19 + 2: 21

The room looks exactly like the previous one. It even has the same number of doors. But when you look down, you see sections of the floor that seem to be raised. There were only a few safe spaces and it would take alot of quick movements to get to one of the other doors.

Aisha gritted her teeth when she heard the click of the other two doors. So she was expected to select which doors to go to without any knowledge of what lay beyond before it was too late. Looking into the next room and seeing it much like the last, she was confused until she noticed the raised parts of the floor. Some kind of pressure plates for traps.

It didn't look like there were only a few safe spaces to step, but she was pretty confident in her mobility. Looking at the safe spaces she tried to see if any doors were easier than the others. It stood to reason that if one path was too easy it might be a trap leading to a much harder next room. If there were any obvious difficulty differences between paths she'd go for something down the middle. Otherwise, she'd go for the middle door this time.

Trap Evasion Roll [Dex, Average]: 8 +5 = 13

The pathway to each door seemed to be the same. Seeing that, you successfully avoid the pressure plates and reach the middle door this time. As before, the other doors lock behind you. The minute you open the door, you hear barking. When you peek inside, you see three undead hounds running around the cramped room.

Aisha hopped from safe tile to safe tile as she made her way to the middle door. Again she heard the faint clicking of the other doors sealing themselves. She'd either need to clear this next room or retreat back from this floor entirely. Peeking in, she grimaced at the three undead hounds.

Kicking the door open, Aisha let out a mighty roar at the hounds hoping to cow them slightly. She then slipped just into the room stepping to the side to put her back to the wall, not wanting to let herself get surrounded again, and prepared to parry an oncoming attack.

Undead Hound 3 is Frightened.

Aisha Prepares to Parry.

Undead Hound 3 Uses Swipe

Aisha uses Parry: 13 +5 = 18, Damage: 9; Undead Hound defeated

You let out a mighty roar. The hounds shake and turn to you. One of them steps back, frightened by your display of dominance. Nevertheless, they move in to attack. One leaps into the air and tries to tackle you to the ground. The frightened hound meanwhile attempts to slash at your leg. While the first hits you squarely in the chest, the last one you manage to parry. In return, you bury your blade deep into the hounds body. With a whimper it stops moving, Only leaving two more targets.

Giving a start to her targets, Aisha gave them a sneer as they approached for the attack. She grunted as the first hound avoided her blade and slammed into her chest. The next attacker was less fortunate as she stabbed it right through it. She didn't like how the other hound hadn't attacked. It was clearly waiting for an opening, so she decided not to give it one. Moving to the offensive, she cut at the beast with her sword. If it managed to survive, she'd take another swing at it. Otherwise, she'd take a swing at the remaining beast.

Spoiler (click to show/hide):

Aisha attacks Undead Hound (1)
Hit Roll: 18 + 6 = 24, Damage: 9 (Undead Hound 1 Defeated)

Aisha attacks Undead Hound (2)
Hit Roll: 2 + 6 = 8, Miss

Undead Hound (2) uses Swipe
Hit Roll: 12 + 2 = 14: Miss

Your first strike hits true dropping one of the hounds to the ground. You miss the second as it tries to swipe at you. You begin to feel the confined space of the room as you try to manuveur around the final beast.

Aisha smashed on of the Hounds, glad to see the beast fall, but the other one remained. Taking a swing at him, she found him to be evasive, but at least she managed to dodge his own attack. She noticed it was managing to confine her in a corner which could be a problem. Taking a sure stance she stood her ground to prevent him from forcing her back any further. Taking a quick glancing swing, she quickly pulled her blade back to prepare a counter-attack.

Undead Hound (2) Attacks Aisha (Light)
Hit Roll: 15 + 2 + 2 = 19

Damage: 1 Damage

You manage to hit the beast with your swing. It whines and falls back. Even wounded, the undead hound continues to stalk to. It's eyes firmly on your neck. It prowls around you until seeing a small opening. It leaps in for a quick attack. But only scratches you.

Striking at the Hound, Aisha found it was still up, but the previous two had not stood up to much harm and she didn't expect this one to be any different. Switching up to a full Offense against the creature she made two quick strikes in an effort to open its defenses for a third, much more solid, blow. A quick clean up was the best she could hope for at this point.

Aisha Attacks Undead Hound (2) (Light Attack)
Hit Roll: 17+ 6 = 23, Hit! Damage: 5, Undead Hound (2) is defeated.

With a quick swing, the final beast is defeated. Taking a moment to catch your breath. you notice this room has only two options to move forward. Left or right. These doors are rather elaborate as well. Each door decorated with golden trimmings.

Aisha caught her breath after her last swing managed to fell the last of the beasts. Now she was stuck choosing between two doors. Her tail lashing in mild frustration at the gold trimming. It made this choice seem important, but she simply couldn't see how she was supposed to make the choice besides picking at random. What was even the purpose of making her choose if she had nothing to go on? Still, there was nothing to gain by waiting around wasting time, so she walked up to the door on the left cracking it open to see what was on the other side.
