You estimate the orc camp is about two-three hours away at a marching speed. As a god you don't really need rest so you could head out tonight if you wish, though you'd be returning only a few hours before dawn. As for finding a local, it's about time for bed for the majority of folk, so it would be best to wait until morning to try.

While you can create a block of ice, it is slow going, and not very versatile. You suppose it might come in handy if you ever need to refrigerate something in the field though.

While you can pull spikes out of the ground, since you are going against gravity they have less force then if you drop them. In addition you realize a slight problem in that the rock you are using is little more then strongly packed dirt, so is likely to break upon impact with anything remotely solid. Still would transfer a good bit of force, but it would be hard to skew anything with this.

Hm, I should wait until morning if it's that far.

Still, if I can create ice, I should be able to create something similar. Perhaps liquid helium? As for the rock coming out of the ground, maybe I can combine a few tricks, I try throwing the spike through a plasma spot from before, a jet of molten earth should still be unpleasant. So, I can synthesize material outside of normal temperature ranges. I'd assume nothing on the level of 'surface of the sun' or anything, although I do try to create a small bit of matter at absurdly high temperatures.

As it turns out making liquid helium is far harder then anticipated... or anything of a specific temperature. Apparently the only reason you are capable of making ice at the zero Celsius is because it has to be in order to exist naturally and you understand it's simple crystal structure enough to do it. Creating liquids, gases or even plasmas which have no defined structure at a specific temperature seems to be beyond you at the moment.

Your attempts to melt the spike of earth is more successful, though only part of it melted, as the earth absorbed the all the energy before melting, you did manage to heat it up to the point where it would burn quite extensively as it is in the three hundreds Celsius on average.

I guess I mis explained it? She's trying to force a spike of ground up through one of the heat points, creating a jet of melted earth.

Hm, interesting. That's kind of a pain in the ass, but I'll have to work on it. My plan for possibly drenching the fire hounds in some kind of coolant is unlikely to work. Let's try a hollow shell, tungsten again since it's got that nice melting point. A nice several meter sphere, just a few centimeters thick. If I can create it, I try to see if I can change its shape once created, perhaps a rapid compression to crush whatever's inside?

Next, I try to rip a huge swath of earth up, possibly as a shield or bulwark.

Lastly, I experiment with chemistry again. I don't know much about the exact metallurgy or various chemicals, but I do recall some basics from the elemental table. Anything in line with hydrogen will explode on contact with water, and I know fluorine is incredibly toxic. Maybe some acids? Hm, hydrochloric is the only one I recall off the top of my head, maybe some of the other ones will come to me. First, let's try some sodium, but I want to create it a few feet away from me, as it's rather violently energetic.

Making the Tungsten sphere isn't hard, but you quickly realize that crushing is going to be more difficult because of the air-pressure within... Though this does give you an idea. The main problem with making an area cold was simple air flow would just mix it back up again in short order... but here you have an air-tight container that you can remove the heat from... which has the added bonus of lowing the air pressure as well. With a quick test it becomes clear that you don't even need to crush the sphere, as the atmosphere does that quick spectacularly.

As for making an instant bulwark you find that when manipulating that area of earth, you don't have the control to force the earth into sedimentary rock form, and just end up creating a bar of dirt.

As you try to create yet more material you feel a headache come on. Instantly you realize that all this creation of matter is overexerting yourself. While you can carry on, you suspect that you will be weaker in the next few days if you do so.

I find myself giving a clap when I realize I can make an instant pressure vessel. I bet I could go the other way as well if I needed too, but as the headache comes on, I decide to lay off. The instant blob of dirt, while not as useful as I'd have liked still shows promise. Still, I have a much better guess at what I'm going to want to do to fight these creatures. Of course, by now it's getting a bit late as I frown at the sky. So inconvenient.

I head back to the room, proud that I've managed to expand my skills. I go in search of books on proper fortress design for now. I recall bits and pieces from historical designs, as wells as fun little toy catapults and trebuchets, but I want to make sure I've gotten the basic designs down properly. I should begin taking notes as well.

Unfortunately for your research plans, this seems to be a pre-printing press world, as you can't even find a single book, much more, actually one on fortification engineering. As you give up on being able to find such a book in this small town, you do vaguely recall that you will recover from your overexertion more if you 'sleep' as opposed to simply remain active. It would be a good way of passing time until morning unless you have something else you wish to do.

Well, if I can't find anything to start with, I guess sleeping is as good of a use of my time as any. I head back to the room, hoping that Yumir has at least partially forgiven me.

As you enter, you see that Yumir has already gone to sleep, and with your godly senses, you can sense Gothrik snoring happily on his own bed in the side room.

I lay down on the bed, not really sure what I'm planning to do, but wanting to wind down and let my powers rest.

As you fall asleep you once again become far more aware of your surroundings, and even surface thoughts of your followers. Gothrik is very happy and loyal, but Yumir... She is very confused and disquieted about what happened, clearly not sure what to make of your actions or her response... The specifics escape you unfortunately.

With morning, Yumir gets up and prepares to leave the room. You can end your rest now to catch her as she leaves, or get that last bit of recovery in before you awaken.

I decide to let her go for now. I suspect that trying to talk with her immediately, before we've begun our mission will just cause anxiety. Talking on the road would be much better, and would ensure some degree of privacy since Gothrik can really only talk to myself. Besides, sometimes a woman needs to sleep in.

She soon leaves the sphere of your perception, as you shift slightly for comfort.

A good time late, approximately an hour, Gothrik is up as well, and is standing over you... apparently decided that without instruction he would default to guarding you. Well, it was time to wake up anyways, as tempting as indulging in sloth is.

I sit up, yawning... is that something I still need to do, or is it just habit at this point? Still, I start getting dressed, not wanting to tempt Gothrik so soon after the last batch. Recalling how closely I came to letting myself get impregnated, just from the joys of being penetrated, I need to be careful. Still, that pleasure was intense. Once I've gotten my temple established and I will be locked down for a while, I'll have to give pregnancy a shot. Something about it strongly appeals to me now.

Getting up and being ready seem like the way to go as I lead the way out to search for Yumir to see if she's ready to go yet.

Gothrik seems to be appeases from your actions yesterday, and happily waits for you and follows you out. As you look around you quickly find Yumir, chatting to someone in the guest room. As she realizes you are there, she approaches, avoiding eye contact you note, before informing you, "I've been asking around for transport... Unfortunately they don't have carriages but this man is a trader and will be making the trip to our destination soon. It won't be a fast journey and Gothrik will like have to walk... on account of his size, but unless you wish to try how Gothrik gets along with riding a horse... it's the best I can do I'm afraid."

I nod to her, accepting the unspoken reprimand from her for last nights indiscretion. I gesture to Gothrik to follow, and we join the trader. I assume we're going to be expected to act as guards as well.

After exchanging hellos, he explains, "We'll be heading out after lunch. After yesterday's drama, the people's who's good I'm selling needs a bit more time to get everything to me. Don't worry, we'll be there before night fall, if only just." That does give you several hours. If you want to make that trip to the orcs, now would be the time. Otherwise the time is for you to spend how you please.

"I will make the trip then, to see if they have anyone that can be useful. I think I can make better time alone though, as I do not need to rest." I tell Yumir, although I'm willing to hear counter evidence. Of course, I'll have to leave Gothrik alone with these people.

Yumir pauses, clearly concerned about letting you go out on your own, considering she is in part suppose to be your bodyguard. Gothrik on the other hand just looks passively at you, awaiting your orders. Looks like you'll have to allay Yumir's fears, and tell Gothrik what you want from him before you go.

"I've been practicing a few new spells, and I want to get a feel for what my body is capable of. It would be best if I could push it without worrying about either leaving someone behind, or possibly doing damage. Besides, I can summon you if I need to." I tell Yumir, maintaining a professional manner.

To Gothrik, {I'm going back to the village, I'll see about finding a tracker from them. Stay with Yumir, and try to work with her okay.} I gesture to Yumir, making sure to repeat the word a few times so he can recall it. To Yumir, I try to teach her a few orc words that should do her okay in the event of something happening.
