Monster Hunter [VENOMOUSWINGS]

Your world is one filled with many fantastical creatures, from small critters to gigantic monsters. For many, these creatures are a source of food and materials to continue surviving from day to day. But for some, they are a source of fame...and wealth. You have grown old enough that you can now venture out of your village on your own, to explore this vast world and make a name for yourself.

Of course, there are dangers, and as you will soon learn, the old tales you've heard aren't just there to scare little children to bed...

Bio: Though human Katherine was brought by a race of humanoids with cat like feature, called Neko. Not realizing she was human to much later in her life, Katherine learn't how to hunt and gather with the tribe. These skills would later translate into her later life as a monster hunter.

Dawn has broken over the slice of the world your village calls home. The first stirrings of movement are beginning as its inhabitants awaken for the beginning of a new day, which includes you. For you though, today is a special day. It is the day you have been waiting for a long time.

Katherine slowly drags herself out of bed, letting out a long yawn as she rubbed her eyes. Today was the day she would leave the village and venture out to finally make a name for herself. Getting dress she and having something to eat, she grabs her backpack and ventures out of her home. First thing she needed to do was collect her weapon before she left, a monster hunter is useless without their weapon.

Leaving your little hut, you see some of the other villagers out and about, who wave and give you good mornings before going on their way for their own daily chores and activities. You quickly make your way through, weaving between the many huts until you reach the weapon master...who is currently asleep in his rocking chair, a newly made weapon sitting across his lap.

Walking through the village Katherine returned the waves and good mornings she got as she made her way to the weapon master. Walking inside she finds him asleep in his rocking chair. "Old fart must of been up all night finishing of the weapons." Walking up to him she gives him a light shake. "Gramps...Gramps, Hey Gramps!" She finally shouted to get him up, bloody deep sleeper. "Is that my war hammer there?" She points to the weapon on his lap.

It takes a bit more shaking, and a few more calls of gramps to wake him up, which results in his first words of the morning being a great amount of cursing and sputtering. "Ogh...can't you let an old fellar sleep? Impatient youngin...and no, its not your war-hammer, I'm not finished with it." He says as he gets up and goes into his hut, you following him in, before having to think fast as he tosses a new short sword at you. "You can use that until I finish it up, though why you'd want to use a hammer for hunting is beyond me. Might not be much left to take after you smash them beasties to bits."

Katherine sighs when she hears her hammer isn't finished, and is given a short sword. "And like this butter knife is gonna do much again the big ones." She examines the disappointing weapon. "Plus hunters who are skilled in blunt weapons are in demand, we're the perfect for breaking off horns and smashing through natural armor." She smiles at knowing so much more about the hunting guild wants.

Katherine sighs when she hears her hammer isn't finished, and is given a short sword. "And like this butter knife is gonna do much again the big ones." She examines the disappointing weapon. "Plus hunters who are skilled in blunt weapons are in demand, we're the perfect for breaking off horns and smashing through natural armor." She smiles at knowing so much more about the hunting guild wants.

He grunts in reply. "Yeah, and you'd be the shortest lived hunter in the guild if you were crazy enough to go after any of the big ones, especially on your own." He gets to work on your hammer, adding "So unless you lost the brains you've shown you got, I suggest starting off nice and slow. Your young, you got plenty of time to become famous and all that."

She looks over to see how her war hammer was coming along. "Yeah your right but still there are a good number of monsters that have shells, gonna need a hammer to break through it." She did have to admit about not going for the big ones just yet. "I can't go for the big ones yet anyway, the guild has a rank system which stops the newcomers doing quests that would kill them."

She looks over to see how her war hammer was coming along. "Yeah your right but still there are a good number of monsters that have shells, gonna need a hammer to break through it." She did have to admit about not going for the big ones just yet. "I can't go for the big ones yet anyway, the guild has a rank system which stops the newcomers doing quests that would kill them."

Your warhammer looks like its about 2/3 of the way done, and you might be lucky enough to have it within a day or two. "Yeah, but that doesn't mean you won't bump into any. Remember, first rule of being a hunter-don't get yourself killed. Think smart when your out there kid." He says as he goes back to work, shooing you off.

Useless old man was meant to have it down by today, how is she gonna be able to leave now. She decides to see if the village has and hunting work while she waits for her weapons. Seeking out the villages head Hunter, you find him working on the pelt of something from a recent hunt. Inquiring about work, he thinks for a moment, then says that they're running low on healing potions. If you can find and kill five adult Kelbi and bring their horns back, he's got some money he can give you. He says that if you also can, to try and salvage some of the meat, though since you'll be doing it on your own, he doesn't suspect you'll have much luck on your own with that part.

"Right I'll get started right away... you don't have a spear I can use this short sword isn't gonna help me at all." Kelbi give some of the better hunters a run for their money, due they will usually flee at high speed if you get close. "Is there a place where they are usually found near here?"

"I don't have a spear...but we got an extra bow on hand, one of the hunters sprained his leg real bad, so he can't join the hunting parties. There's two full quivers available, but do try not to waste any." He says at your first question, and then at the second question he gives you an odd look. "Have you hit your head or something Katherine? You helped some in the Wide-Leaf forest not a week ago..."

Katherine blushed in embarrassment. "R-right! Sorry I guess I'm still have a sleep." She looks around to find the bow. "I think I can make do with a bow, I'll do my best to get what you need." Full equip she heads out to fight the Kelbi she needs."

You find the bow and quivers without any trouble, and then head out of the village towards Wide-Leaf forest. It takes about an hour to reach, but the weather is perfect with a nearly clear sky, and a cool breeze helps keep the heat of the sun from being too overbearing. You pass small groups of animals who are grazing on some of the wild grasses and flowers growing about, but otherwise your trip is uneventful.

Reaching the forest, you don't immediately see any Kelbi. However, you do see some Mosswine sniffing about, no doubt looking for some mushrooms to eat. A few glance your way, but if you leave them alone, they'll leave you alone.

Katherine made her way to the forest, luckily with nice traveling weather. The sky was clear and there was a nice cool breeze, that kept her from boiling in the sun. There were the odd groups of animals grazing in the field, sadly none of them her prey. As she entered the forest she doesn't immediately come across any Kelbi meaning that she'll have to go deeper in. The only thing of note was some Mosswine looking for mushrooms, but they won't be a problem unless provoked.

Delving a bit further into the forest, you see a small group of Kelbi gathered around a small pond. They appear to be busy quenching their thirsts, and haven't noticed you yet. Of course, supposing you decide to attack, your best guess is you'll take out one right now, which means a prolonged chase through the forest.

Spotting some Kelbi gathered around a small pond, Katherine readies her bow to fire. However she waits to see if one of them drifts off from the group, so she could pick it off with the chances not to spook the others. If the group starts to move together she'll fire at one and give chase.

None of them break off from the group but when they do start to move off you loose an arrow into one of the Kelbi. Your strike brings it down without a bleap or cry from the creature, which amazes you. Since it also happened to be the last turning away from the water, the others haven't noticed yet, you have a chance to make another kill!

Katherine wanted to cheer is success over such a perfect kill, but she wasn't dude yet. The Kelbi hadn't realized that one of them had just fallen, so she readies another shot. Her chances off pulling it off a second time was slim, as she fired another arrow.
