"I'll have your room prepared. But this is the key for when you're ready for it." Yefim said and hands you a key with the number 3 on it. Going back to the bar Vadim greets you.

"Welcome back. We got roasted Mole Rat on the menu today, though if you have the caps we do have some radstage meat. Otherwise we got some prewar food. As for drinks we got cold beer and nuka cola." Vadim said. Whatever you order he goes and gets it for you. As you wait you listen in on what the patrons nearby on talking about.

"Hey, stay away from the HalluciGen building. Heard there's a lot of synths crawling around that area."
"You should check out what the shops bought from the traders. I heard they got some good stuff from that vault to the west."
"Thanks for recommending me to Nick; he may be a run down synth but he's a good detective that one. Found out who's been stealing from my home."
"Ugh, I'm getting sick of those snobs from the Upper Stands. Entitled pricks think they can do whatever they want. Too pussy to come down here though."

Taking the key, ordering some mole rat, and a nuka cola, Caroline settles down at the bar and listens in to folks as they chitchat. Some of it doesn't sound all that useful, but her ears do perk up at two bits of information. The first was mention of Hallucigen and it having a bunch of Synths. Something to go investigate and check out given she was here to try and find out what the Institute was up to. Mention of a run down synth detective was also interesting. She'd have figured no one would trust a Synth of any kind here given the rumors. But maybe she could see what knowledge the guy might have.

Once the food arrived, she decided to ask Vadim, "Heard of any interesting work available recently?" as she dug into her food.

"Work? Well there's always plenty to do around Diamond City, like helping with upkeep of the Wall or the water purification plant or just the standard odd job by any of the merchants. Could use a waitress or maid here too. The ones in the Upper Stands could have work, but I would stay away from those self entitled snobs but they might have more caps than most." He then looks at you and the weapons you were holding. "Though you probably want something more adventurous. Could try talking to the mayor, he could have work for a hired gun. The guys maintaining the wall always need green paint and there's rumors of some in a old hardware store, though raiders tend to be in that area. They pay well for every can you bring them. Could ask our local detective, Nick Valentine, if he needs help. Just don't freak out when you see him."

He pauses as he thinks a bit more. "Hmm... Not much else I can think of though... Oh! Piper of the town's paper, Publick Occurrences, might have a job; she always looking for stories and gets in trouble a lot for it. Get this, she thinks the mayor is a synth. I mean there's always that tiny chance someone is one but she doesn't really have any proof so personally I think she just wants to piss off the mayor or something."

Mention of the mayor possibly being a Synth caught Caroline's attention, but well, she decided she'd hold off on making any judgements on that. Still, the Mayor seemed a good one to possibly ask when it came to being a hired gun. She slotted the thing with green paint aside for an "If I need spare caps" kind of deal. It sounded like something just about anyone could potentially do.

"Thanks. I'll keep all that in mind." Finishing her drink and food, she threw a few extra caps down as a tip before strolling on out. After asking about, she decided to swing by the place this Piper lady called home. Why not see if she had anything work wise first, especially anything Institute related, before checking with the Mayor.

"Thanks for your caps. My brother should have your room ready by the time you get back." Vadim said as he takes the caps you gave him as you're leaving. Before you left you asked for directions for Piper's place and you find yourself back near the entrance to Diamond City where you see a woman in a red trench coat, green scarf, and a brown press cap.

"Read the latest issue! Is our beloved mayor a synth infiltrator? More likely than you think! Mobsters from Goodneighbor lurking in our town? Read to find out!" The woman shouts to people that pass her by but no one seemed to be paying attention. Then she spots you. "Oh hey, new face around here. Heard about some new girl in a strange suit but I assumed they meant like a vault suit. Did you want an article?" She holds out a paper to you. "Might help you learn a bit about current events around here."
