The wolves bound down on the trio, snarling as they close the gap within the blink of an eye. By the time Alexandra has gripped her holy symbol, the two leading the charge dive upon her, clawing and biting against the strong steel of her armour. Their bestial claws barely seem to scrape her through her defences, but they shred away at the bonds of her armour as she finds plates of metal falling to the ground in their wake. The frenzy of these wolves is enough to wear away at even the most well made of armours. (Alexandra takes 2 HP damage and 4 armour shred)
Seeing Alexandra take this onslaught from the wolves, Adeliza steps up next to her and covers her with her shield. Her shield is brought to bare in time to bash away the third wolf's snarling jaw as it goes for the parts of Alexandra's armour weathered by its pack's assault. "Are you alright, sweet thing?" she asks, between strained grunts of keeping the wolves at bay. "Its alright, I've got you."
Maeve stares in awe of the glow that envelopes her weapons, before a wicked smile spreads across her face. "Eat steal, filthy mongrels!" she roars, charging the wolves with a ferocity to match their own. The holy light burned away at the wolves hides, allowing the already swift swings of Maeve's battle axes to cleave through the wolves like butter. (8 damage dealt to all wolves. 3/11 HP remaining per wolf.) Wounded, but still fighting, one wolf takes an opportunity to strike at Maeve, taking advantage of an opening left behind by her frenzied swings and emboldened by the holy light on her blade fading. Maeve is able to kick it back with her boot before facing it down.
Turn Order Round 2
- Wolf (3)
- Wolf (4)
- Wolf (1)
- Maeve
- Wolf (2)
- Adeliza
- Alexandra
A couple of the wolves choose to rush Maeve, attempting to lash out at the warrior woman that hurt them so badly. As fast as their attacks are, Maeve's movements are faster and she kicks the beasts away if they ever get close to scratching her.
Alexandra is less quick to avoid a wolf that lunges at her, however Adeliza presses herself between Alexandra and the beast, helping share the burden. The wolf couldn't get past their armour, but its claws tore away at some of the straps holding their protection together (1 shred each)
Continuing to match the wolves for their ferocity, and then beginning to outmatch them, Maeve swings her axe past tooth and claw and as the howls start to die down, the four that assailed them have fallen.
Taking but a moment to catch their breath, the trio look up to see the last tails of the wolves watching them fleeing into the woods. It seems before the fight was over, the greater pack decided not to engage the warriors further. They likely wouldn't be so cautious to any other travellers on the road. If the job was to be done properly, they would need to pursue the beasts.
