The majority of them seem to carry little beyond half formed clubs or sticks with sharpened tips. Their clothes are even worse, seeming to be little beyond rags infested with whatever parasites the little monsters have. Still, a couple of mostly straight sticks isn't... totally worthless, right?

Well... not sure what I was expecting. I gather up the sticks/spears and run back to my camp. Hopefully these sticks were worth the time to gather.

With the dead goblins lying on the ground, you manage to gather up their spears, noting that the five corpses seem to be sinking into the ground and rotting rather quickly. At least they don't have that terrible rot stink. Still, you quickly get the collected sharpened sticks back to your base, meaning you're partway through the process of a spikey wall.

I pause at the quite rotting, being slight creeped out by watching it, but shake it off, thankful that I don't have to worry about corpse disposal in the future at least. Getting back I hesitate about placing the sticks in the wall. While yes a spikey wall would be highly valuable, I'm going to need far more than five to be useful, and they may turn out more immediately useful for other things, so I store them inside, in preparation for acquiring more sticks... But for now, SLEEP! I dealt with the intruders that so rudely interrupted it, so I have more than earned a restful night!

Little else occurs for the night, your night actually quite pleasant since you're not under attack, and you now know to listen for possible hooting.

Waking up I decide I need to focus on finishing my wall. It stopped the three feet goblins, but I need something more than that. I'm going to dedicate the entire day to that... as well as picking up any useful sticks I happen to find when getting water or just around my camp.

Getting up, you find that once again, the unaltered parts of the forest have shifted again. Still, with an intense focus on getting the job done, you do manage to finish the... fence?

With the rampart done, I check how much time I have left in the day. If there isn't much time left, I'll stick close and focus on gathering sticks, and other building supplies to bring into my little 'fort.' If I have more time, then I'll brave another long patrol.

You manage to finish most of the day, and while there's not enough time left for a full long patrol, perhaps there's enough for a short one to visit the river or something?

No reason to stray too far... though maybe I should begin looking for a way to store water near my house, lest something decides to stake out my little fort for a few hours or something? I begin considering my option for ferrying and storing water from the river.

Well... you could... (craft:16) hollow out a heavy rimmed fruit and use it? You haven't run across too much gourde wise, but you could hopefully find something soon. There's also clay, although how well you can form it is another question entirely. There's also that building material you have plenty of, wood, if you're willing to... hollow out a carry jar or bucket and maybe smoke it or something to kill anything living in it? A quick think on it does list a few options, although you could always think on it some more. Still, the fruit you have for now seems to be filling your immediate needs for drink with their intense juiciness.

Do I have any heavy rimmed fruits? No they would probably start to rot after a while... I probably can't form clay well with just my hands, but if I make wooden bucket out of wood and line it with clay, that should be far more manageable, and the smoking could also dry out the clay. Let's try that.

It takes you quite some time to get it right, the first few tries flopping, the wood deciding to crack halfway through and ruining your work, or other problems before you finally work out a good lined bucket to work with.

Finally! This shouldn't have been so hard! Regardless, I have a one now, so I go to the river to top it up with water and return it to my camp. It's getting late so probably a good time to sleep again.

Oh shit, oh shit, oh shit! This is exactly why I wanted to store water in my camp! I prepare to fight, silently cursing I haven't made a lid for this yet, so running isn't an option if I wished to keep the water.

As before, you hear a scrabbling sound, but not the heavy 'thumps' of some unstoppable monster. Careful investigation reveals something similar as well, a small scaled creature, almost like a monkey. A kobold maybe? It doesn't seem to have noticed you, much like the goblins, only partially aware of its surroundings.

I keep low. While I don't have the best cover by the stream, I fear moving will just attract attention. Hopefully it'll just leave me alone.

Freezing, you hunch down, hoping to avoid any notice at all as the kobold begins sniffing around, but it seems to be looking away from you. Before you can make a move, you hear something behind you, and spin, spotting a group of them already pointing sharpened sticks at you!

I let out a curse which I turn into my best attempt at a warcry, as I throw out my hand, firing as much ice magic as I can at the group, hoping to scare them off. They're not big and they didn't immediately attack, so maybe they're cowardly?
