You vaguely recall something about armadillos, which this strange thing reminds you of, but hopefully that's not a thing here, right? It has a tough leathery hide, with thick slabs of chunks of bones embedded in it, which your cat helpfully informs you are called 'osteoderms', but the shape may not be right. You do find plenty of claws and teeth, but they're not much bigger than your fingers. It's a wild cat, with a bit of armor, after all. Still, you do have dinner, and stripping it out lets you clean the former animals armor while its meat gets cooked. You have the option of stitching the armored shell over your shield, hide shields were a thing, right?, or to try and make some kind of formed armor to protect your soft human innards, as the cat points out.
