"The phrase 'you are your own worst critic' comes to mind." The cat huffs back, which brings back the reference the strange beast made to being of your magic. Looking at your thumb, it does seem that you can throw sparks with a snap, although a lighter would probably be better. It takes some time, including some experimentation, but you eventually get a small fire started and cook the strange beast. It... tastes rather strange. Not like chicken, but meaty, just... not with the taste of a specific animal. You are feeling a bit less hangry now though.

"What is that suppose to mean!" I snap back but I do get a fire started so mind myself on preparing some meat. Well, this isn't as bad as it could be. Still, I'm out of my depth. I guess the first thing is to explore the immediate area around my home and look for any dangers or resources I can use.

Flicking his tail, the cat stares up at you, "When you thought of something mercurial, other worldly, that you can't explain, you thought of a cat. Now, you're complaining that your cat is doing things that cats do." Wait, didn't it say something about how you needed something to handle strange, non-standard magic? And how your robotic arm handles the more common things? Is this your fault somehow? Or is the cat just being a cat... which is half of the damned things point, isn't it?

Drifting around your area, you find quite a few more berry bushes than before, like for some reason they're the right type of plant that you need. Still, there's also those straight trees, which seem like they'll make good materials, but it'd be best if you figured out what you wanted them for first. There's no guarantee that the lack of dangers will remain though, and you still desire to know what's around you, so pressing on shows some very basic resources. Of course, if this is like any other fantasy, maybe you want to find monsters to kill and level up? Is that a thing here?

"I've lived with cats for most of my life. I've never had them drop a dead creature on me. Yeah sure, they've dropped it at my feet, or at the foot of my bed, but they don't just drop a dead things on me," I snap back. Stupid little cat. If you were physically I'd spray you with water!

Nothing particularly interesting around me. Was hoping for something... I don't know... magical? Healing herbs? Mana fruit? Something I could use. Hell, at least let me find that prey animal so I don't have to wake up covered in blood every morning! Sighing, I decide to push on, nothing ventured nothing gained, and while I do need to work on my camp, I need to make sure that there isn't a den of cthulhu-faced freaks hundred feet away before I invest days into it.

"It has to interact with you or won't be guaranteed to hold!" The cat huffs... which is honestly pretty consistent with things you've seen so far. Interacting with you has made things hold still a bit more.

As soon as you think of the different things you would want more than berries, your eye catches sight of a new type of tree, a shorter one. Reminds you of an... orange tree? Short, puffy top, little fruits dangling from it, just like you imagined they would be. Approaching slowly, you find something that looks the size of an orange, but with apple skin, and a soft glowing blue interior. Does look tasty...

Investigating the ground reveals no tracks from anything with claws coming by recently, nor tentacles or anything else. Of course... there's no reason that thinking of them wouldn't summon the beasts right?

(Come on, we've been through this before... they'll all be high and then she gets hit by the 1, then 3... then the 2... and finally the 5.)
"If you are from me, then why won't you interacting with it count!" I point out, since these rules don't make any sense.

Well this is something. I have no idea if it is worth it, but at least I found something different. Best try these and see if they are any good.

Biting in, juice runs down your face, and you find a pit of energy in your stomach, spreading out. Hard to tell if it's something magical or something like a level up. They're quite tasty, and exploding with tingling flavor. Still, probably best not to gorge yourself on all of them, you only see the one orange tree looking thing, as opposed to the dozens of berry bushes.

"If you want to act as a medium then you got to cooperate with me rather then being stubborn," I retort, "If you're just going to fight me at every opportunity, even when trying to 'help' me, then just don't. That kind of help is more harmful then good."

Well, best run all these back to camp then, and see if I can find anything else.

Looting the tree as fast as you can, you pull down an arm full before running back to camp... only to find the tree gone now. Dammit. Fucking dreamscape bullshit. Well... you've at least got the closest thing to a mana potion if you're recalling the flavor right. Now... save them or plant them?

Why wouldn't she have picked them all? I was under the impression she had, hence the run 'all these back' line

"No, but you could at least have have the basic minimum manners," I retort.

Do these things even have seeds? Besides how long am I going to be here? If they have seeds I'll certainly plant them, but otherwise it probably is best to just keep all these I have for use.

Regardless, she certainly couldn't carry them all, hence only getting an armload or two.

"Humans." Is all the cat says, refusing to comment more.

Looking over the split open fruit, you can't see a pit or seeds, but the... skin seems to have little specs of high density magic or whatever this is, is that the seed maybe? You could ask the cat, hopefully it'll be a bit more helpful after your spat and you getting some food in you.

"Look, we can either bitch and be at each others throats or we can work together," I try offering an olive branch.

Assuming my offer was taking I might as well see how well he is going to follow it and hopefully get an answer. "Hey, what are these little specs on the skin of this fruit?"

It was more to deny you access to the tree unless you plant some. Essentially, an early burst, and then you have to work harder to find more. It'd be fine either way.

"Fine. Scritches." The cat is suddenly next to you, demanding affection.

The cat sniffs at the fruit, pawing one that's open and licking it. "The specs are... seeds. Yes, that's the closest analogy I think. They're concept seeds, for that particular type of tree, but still, planting one should result in a new tree growing soonish. Whether or not it will remain is another question, there's some kind of... effect on that breed of tree. I cannot tell if it disappears or transfers itself once you see it, or once its fruit has been picked."

"See, compromise," I say as I scratch him under the chin and the behind the ears.

With him actually helping me, I offer him to climb in my lap so I can pet him more. Regardless of whether he takes it, I decide it's probably best to peel one, eat it and plant the skin, just to see how quick 'soonish' is. If nothing notable happens in a short period of time, I guess it would be best to continue exploring.

The cat begins to purr, and you're struck with the thought that it's possible it might have orchestrated this entire fight for make up scritches. He is also quite willing to crawl into your lap and wait as you peel the... magi-fruit. Peeling it, it seems to take a few moments, but you can definitely tell something is going on. The area just feels slightly different. The fruit itself is less filling, the skin seeming to have a decent amount of whatever it is that recharges your magic.

Looking around, it takes a little bit longer, but you eventually find tracks of something. Maybe it's a jungle cat or something similar? It's hard to tell with these, but its paws are the size of your feet. You hear a slight hissing growl from a bush. Your cat seems unimpressed, so maybe it's not too bad?

Now this is like a cat. You little rascal! Oh well, as long as he doesn't start more shit for pets, this is fine.

I ready my spear as I approach the bush. Got to find out what's living near here and might as well see if I can get dinner as well. Assuming the creature doesn't jump out at me, I thrust the spear into the bush, hoping to surprise attack it.

And now that you've thought it, you can almost guarantee that he will do it, won't he? He's part of you, after all. Why does he look so satisfied?

Your pointy stick stands by you, ready for an attack as you stab at the thick bush, your spear going in and (Attack:5) scraping against something tough and leathery. The bush shudders as a tightly wound armadillo cat thing gets up and growls at you fully awake and now with a spear caught between its teeth as it starts pulling you off balance.

Well if he is a part of me and can read my mind, he'll know that my tolerance for shit is limited, and trying it to much is just going to burn him.

I let out a grunt of surprise as the animal yanks me forward. I fire off a lighting bolt into its face, before using the forward momentum to bring down my metal elbow onto it.

The slippery thing yowls when you shoot it, struggling to get away, but you manage to land your elbow as well, flinging it across the area and smacking against a tree, which causes a distinct 'huff' sound followed by gasping and wheezing.

Alright! I'm winning! Sure it's just a small monster... or maybe just an animal? What is the difference between a monster and an animal? Regardless, at the very least I need dinner, so I'm going to finish this thing! I take my spear again and try to impale it against the tree.
