"I want a good gun at a good price," Lea flatly stated. "If you give me both of them, then you will get paid very well."

This guy isn't willing to barter, and only has one good gun within your price range. An XG-99 Rifle with Scope. It's not very fast, but its excellent for long range combat. It will take most of the rest of your cash though, what's not being saved for supplies anyways.

"Fair enough," Lea said, sort of glad that she didn't have to actually negotiate.

Quickly, Lea pulled out the money she needed, took the rifle, and then left towards her new ship.

The man takes the cash, handing the weapon over to you and bidding you a good day. Once you reach your ship, you have to figure out what exactly you shall do. You could go explore some of the neighboring systems nearby, there could be a few that haven't been explored all that much. Or you could check the galactic net, see if there are any major bounties in the area needing taken.

At the very least, knowing what bounties were in the area would give Lea an idea of what to look out for if she decides to do anything else, so she also does that. She also wants to see if her bounty has changed at all, as it is possible that her father has renewed it.

Most of the bounties are for small time raiders and pirates in the area. While you could certainly go after them, they aren't exactly worth enough for a single person to bother hunting them. As for your own bounty, it is still in effect, but it hasn't been updated at all.

A quick scan of the region reveals that there are three systems that haven't really been explored. Doing some mapping and surveying of them would net you some serious cash if you do it right.

Thinking that she'd kill two birds with one stone, Lea decided that she would explore the region, but also keep an open eye out for any of the people on the bounty list. Of course, she also made a mental note of where they had been last reported, so that she at least knew where they weren't.

Setting off for one of the systems, your ship banks and then jumps to light speed. It'll be a few hours, so you should probably find something to occupy yourself unless you want to spend the entire time watching the streaming light of FTL travel.

Looking around, and not really having much to do, Lea realizes that she hasn't gotten much sleep in a long time. She does go around her ship, making sure that nothing needs to be done immediately, and if there isn't anything that does need to be done, then Lea would go to sleep for some time.

There wasn't much of anything you needed to do aboard the ship, though you end up doing a quick check of the important systems to make sure you didn't end up buying a piece of crap. Finding everything to be as it should, you head to your quarters, which is rather small and cramped. Tucking into the bed, you manage to drift off rather quickly.

Your sleep is filled with the many possibilities your journey may bring about. Several times you manage to not only finish whatever mission your own, you even manage to avoid a bounty hunter who is chasing after you, intent on taking you back to your parents.

A few hours later, the alarm goes off, informing you that you will soon be dropping out of FTL.

Ignoring the lies of her dreams, Lea quickly woke up, and grabbed something quick and easy to eat. While doing so, she made her way to the controls, internet on being ready the moment that the ship dropped out to scan the nearby area for anything she could.

As you drop out of FTL, you find yourself in a small stellar system. The sun is an older red giant, with only four planets remaining. The third one from it seems to be the only even remotely habitable one, appearing as a purple and blue speck from afar as you train your sensors on it. There also seems to be some sort of artificial satilite orbiting the large gas giant at the edge of the system. You aren't picking up any activity, so it would appear to be a derelict. You simply need to pick which one you wish to investigate.

Lea decides to investigate the object that is further away and will take longer so that she can also swing by the other object on her way out of the system. At the very least, she isn't all that excellent for the planet, as just because it's habitual doesn't mean its inhabitants are nice or civilized.

The planet is currently closer given its orbit, and so you push your ship towards it, flipping on all sorts of scanning equipment to get an idea of the world. It seems to have a breathable atmosphere for humans, though its a bit thin. Your also detecting lots of low level life forms, and no signs of an advanced civilization.

"I will take care of the closer planet then, Lea said, as she pulled her ship into a closer orbit. "Even if this planet doesn't have any good technology, I know that there are many different people who people would pay money just for the knowledge of a new species."

It takes a while to find a landing site that satisfies your standards, but you manage such in a decently sized valley ringed by mountains, with the only way out that doesn't involve a climb being the river running through it. Various small critters and birds flee as your thrusters send a rushing wind through the area underneath and around your ship.

Once you've touched down, your HUD updates you with a map of the immediate area. There's mostly sub-tropical jungle around you, with the mountains further off.

"I should keep an eye out for all life signatures," Lea thought, as she surveyed the nearby area. "I have heard too many stories of people getting attacked by stuff they thought was worthless."

There doesn't seem to be any creatures or plants nearby that could pose a problem to your right now, so your best bet is to start getting detailed scans of the fauna and flora now before anything tries bothering you.

Not talking the showing of no life as a meaning of there being no life, Lea went about her job of collecting all the necessary information she needed, but she also kept a close eye on everything that looked like it moved: especially the skies.

(GM Roll-8)

As you are moving about the area, you hear a rustling from nearby. Turning your scanner on, you are picking up a large creature of some sort moving towards your position, and you notice that most of the smaller creatures have gone quiet or run off. The rustling grows ever closer, until the beast bursts from the foilage, mandibles chattering as it glances your way.

"If you understand me, don't move," Lea said after turning on her universal translator. "If you stay where you are, I will not hurt you. If you take one step forward-"

Lea raised her gun so that she would be able to hit the thing even if she twitched while shooting, ready to fire if it charged her. At the same time, she kept one eye on the radar, in case this was a pack creature.
