Into the Wastes (TCEL+KURAGARI)

Sam nodded. "As ready as I'm going to be." She shifts her rifle so that she can bring it up at a moments notice, and then looks about. "We go straight ahead a good 50 yards, and we'll reach the first junction. We should take the right path, it leads to the room that houses all our generators. There might still be some power, we could turn the lamps on to help us see."

"Assuming of course these thing haven't chewed on the power cables, naturally."

"Naturally." Well, that made things easier. It seemed that Samantha actually knew the tunnels somewhat- a Godsend, really, considering she didn't. Shouldering her rifle, Cassandra would slowly begin to advance forward, her eyes scanning ahead of her. Did she even have proper scanning capabilities? She didn't know. If not, well, her eyes were good enough for 'scanning'. She was focused on her job right now, her wounds fully closed up thanks to her cybernetics and her body in full function. As long as nothing got the jump on her...

Well, she was sure she could handle it.

Almost as if thinking about it is enough, the tunnel briefly wavers, before solidfying as a HUD and other information, such as your vital signs and a currently blank map of the mines appear in the corner of your vision. An alert pops up indicating that the information for a night vision program is in your database, but it would take a day to install and integrate it, and you would have to cancel the Lactation addition for the time being.

For the moment though, the two of you set off, weapons aimed and at the ready for anything you might hear or see. You notice some tracks, which look like they were made by the Aranines, along with what can only be that of a body being dragged. When you reach the junction, which has three tunnels going left, right, and further in, you see that the tracks go left.

Great. Choice between utility and fun. Why didn't she ever install this damn night vision program sooner? A slow sign escaped her, as she put the lactation on hold in order to install that. Survival was more important, and night vision would definitely aid that. It was kind of cute that she got a HUD though. Reminded her of the video games she used to play when she was younger. Good times, good times. Coming to the intersection, well... She trusted Samantha's word.

They could come back for the tracks. Turning right after giving a glance to the other tunnels, Cassandra would slowly make her way through, still completely silent so that she might hopefully remain undetected. Even if she was literally wearing 'fuck me' lights at this point, what with the gauntlets and all.

The lactation adaption is stopped. For some reason, you feel rather sad and pouty about that, even if the night-vision program is more useful right now.

Making your way down the tunnel, you start to notice that here and there are what appear to be small piles of gooey eggs, all of which are broken up. "Those monsters...we found out that, for whatever reason, they have to implant their eggs into other creatures for them to incubate and then hatch. Doesn't really matter if your a guy or a girl, the eggs don't seem to mind at least."

You briefly wonder at what happens after the eggs mature and birth new Aranines. Seeming to read your thoughts, she says "I...I don't know. I think it might depend on how the person reacts...or it might depend on gender even. One guy who managed to make it back up birthed four of the things, and they tore him to shreds afterwards. I think Gus," she quickly explains that he was the mutant who had been killed, "Said something about finding one of the women who had fallen behind but we saved after she was used outside the pit, being fucked and implanted with more eggs by her children before walking off with them."

Well, that's comforting...no wait, its not.

The two of you have no trouble reaching the power room, which to your surprise is smaller than you would have thought...until you recognize that this was a relatively new generator being used.

"We may not have modern weapons, but we have scavenged some decent stuff of marauders and Bikers."

Before you can say anything, a noise gets your attention. Stepping into the range of your light is an Aranine, and it growls at you as it crouches down, preparing to pounce.

Not comforting in the slightest. She didn't want to end up some Aranine breeding bitch. Hell no. But the generator itself was interesting- the fact that it was a modern piece of tech was astounding, considering it was the wastes. "I-" A noise interrupted her, and Cassandra immediately swung around to point her gun at the beast that approached. "Hit the deck!" She ordered Samantha, squeezing the trigger of her rifle. One, two, three- a volley of bullets, fired in a controlled burst. At this range, there was no way she could miss- unless she was damn unlucky, or the Aranine actually knew what a gun was and knew to dodge out of the way before she shot.

But that was impossible. It was just an insect, interested in eating, breeding and claiming territory. Even if she got pinned, surely Samantha could help out. It was just one. But she wasn't going to take chances. If she dropped this one, she was prepared to react to any others that decided to attack.

(GM Roll...3...ouch.)

The instant you raise your rifle up to fire, the beast jumps to your right into the darkness. Though your gun fire does add some illumination, it seems the beast has quick movements, as a moment later you are tackled into Samantha, who lets out a yelp as she is knocked away. You feel the beast pressing down on you, and you can smell its rather rancid breath as it growls at you, two hard objects pressing into your legs.

Samantha seems to recover though, and with the beast focusing on you she rushes over, smashing the butt of the rifle on its head before twirling the barrel and placing a round in its head. It lets out a shriek of pain, before falling limp on you. Samantha helps push it off you...not that you would need the help with your enhanced strength, but its a nice gesture all the same. She glances around warily, but there is no sign of any other monsters.

Cassandra was rather thankful that she hadn't gone it alone for once- if Samantha hadn't been here, well, she'd have probably been mated by this damn thing and dragged away later on for further breeding. Not the most appealing thing, really. She was lucky that it hadn't injected her with anything yet. Gratefully, she accepted the hand, pulling herself up with a grunt. "... Thanks." It'd been way too long since she'd ever had to say that... Quite the surprise, really.

"N-No p-problem." Samantha says. You glance at her, and notice she is looking at the dead Aranine. This must have been the first time she's ever killed anything. She doesn't seem like she's going to break down or anything, but you suppose she's just rattled from it all.

You move over to the power generator and examine it. Thanks to it being so modern, you don't need any help from Samantha to turn it on. It takes a moment, but soon enough you manage to bring it online, and the room lights up somewhat, the level of it being reminiscent of a cloudy day. The tunnel behind you also lights up, though a look at the readout says that some area's are reporting low power. Seems you might have less light in those sections.

"Well, lets go. I think we'll need to head further in first so we can start heading towards the original breech. We need to seal that in first, then we could start working on culling those that are left. We can find the armory along the way, it's where our stockpile of weapons is."

Wait, so they did have weapons? "As it turns out, the girl who had the card key to it was one of the first to go investigate it. We never saw her come back."

Figures it was the one person that actually had access to the weapons that disappeared first. Lightly, she patted Samantha's shoulder, as though to reassure her. Kill or be killed, in this world. "Any other way to open up the armoury? 'course not, why would there be..." A soft sigh escaped her. Well, at least she had the skills to actually crack open the door. She'd just need some time to focus and work on it. She found herself worrying about those low power rooms... That was probably where the Aranines made their nests.

Probably chewed through various wires and such to cause the power shortage. "At least we're armed enough to take on whatever comes at us. The shafts are narrow, so they're gonna have to file through, probably one by one. Easy kill zone, even if we get attacked from in front and behind, since there's the two of us." Cassandra checked her mag as she spoke, ejecting it and tapping it against her thigh. Felt and sounded full apart from those three bullets. Always good policy to check.

Loading back up, she'd nod to Samantha. "Let's get to that breach then and collapse the tunnel. We've got more than enough C6 for this job."

Samantha nodded, and the two of you make your way back towards the junction. When you reach it though, you find that your not alone. Two Aranines are pacing back and forth, and they growl menacingly at you as soon as they hear your footsteps. They haven't made any moves yet, but you can clearly see their dicks, and what you can only assume are ovipositors, getting hard and growing. Obviously, they would prefer you both just surrender so they can breed you.

Surrender wasn't an option, obviously. Dropping to one knee and lifting her rifle to her shoulder, she would point her weapon right at the pair of Aranine. She was crouched for two reasons- firstly, to stabilise herself so that she could get a more accurate shot... And secondly, so that the woman behind her who also was carrying a gun could actually fire if necessary. Should the insectoids approach, she would fire off a volley of shots, focusing one of them down. Samantha could hopefully handle shooting the other, after her earlier show of competence.

(GM Rolls-20!, 9, 14)

Your superior enhancements seem to kick into overdrive, as you take out the first one with a single perfectly aimed shot at the head. Your already moving your aim over to second one as Samantha is raising her own rifle to fire off her first volley. You also let out a controlled burst, aiming for the things eyes.

This time, your shots miss as the beast nimbly leaps aside, managing to avoid both your and Samantha's shots. But as it moves to charge at you, you both manage to land some rounds into the beast, killing it.

"Wow, your good." Samantha says as you get up, looking at you in awe and admiration. "It looked like you were a blur for a moment!"

Cassandra herself seemed surprised at the sheer skill she'd just shown- she was good, but damn. That was flawless! But, she played it off soon enough, giving a cocky smirk for the briefest of moments. "One of the best at what I do, Sam. Couldn't ask for a better person to help you out with this Aranine infestation." She honestly didn't believe it herself, but... Hey, Samantha probably would.

If it'd help boost morale, it was worthwhile to brag a bit. She was hoping it'd inspire the girl to work even harder. Hopefully not to the point of bravado, however- heroes weren't needed right now, considering it was just the two of them in here.

"Need to keep moving, though... Which way to this armoury?" Her gaze seemed fixated on the tunnel that bore the drag marks along the ground. If it were that way... Well, it'd figure.

"No, the armory is done towards the breach. We'll pass it on the way."

You don't know if you've inspired her, but she doesn't look like she's afraid of what you are both facing now. Maybe she's just burying the fear knowing it won't help right now.

(GM Roll-5) As you proceed down the tunnel, you pass by several holes, which Samantha explains lead to various homes and other rooms. As she's informing you about one of the rooms you just passed, what was apparently a clinic, you suddenly notice that this part of the passage has less light, and-

You fall face forward, ass in the air, as something heavy hits your back. A growl is made in your ear as you hear the same thing happening to Samantha. Once again, you feel two hard objects prodding at your entrances thru the jumpsuit.

Breath being knocked out of her, Cassandra would end up dropping her rifle, which misfired into a wall- great! She recovered quickly however, reaching for her pistol to pull it out, rolling as best she could to just get her arm around to fire a shot into the Aranine. If she couldn't manage, then she'd just keep damn well struggling to get a shot! No way was she letting herself or Samantha be bred by these beasts. There wasn't much else she could do, growling defiantly at the animals.

While you manage to reach for your pistol, your enemy quickly bats it away with a claw, managing to get some of its venom in you as you feel yourself slowing down. You hear a yelp from Samantha, and a quick glance tells you that she's been hit by their drug as well- her face is looking towards you, but her eyes are the only part of her really moving.
