"We can if you wish. With us dealing with the Dusk Stalker, we don't need to hunt, but that doesn't mean we can't or shouldn't. I simply thought you might enjoy some rest considering..." He comments before changing subjects, "Regardless, I had heard of some orc scouts being sighted. If not dealt with we might have an orc encampment in the future, which is a far cry from a simple goblin nest. Other then that there are only simple 'pruning' missions."

[Firehead]

I nodded, "Yes, I'd like to have a job. I've got plenty of money but saving up some extra never hurts, and Orcs sound interesting. A camp might be a little out of my league, but I think some scouts should be about right. I guess my father's not up to date on the newest lingo though cause I'm not quite sure what you mean by pruning. I know how you prune plants, but I don't think you mean some light gardening."

[Sallin_Kari]

"Same principle. You can't simply wipe out the monster population, and in several cases it would be devastating to the local ecology to do so, but you can't let the population grow out of control, so you 'prune' them like you would in gardening," He explains, "It's a reference to recurring bounty on monsters. A reliable, if small, wage for when there are no mysterious monsters or a newly discovered dungeon to deal with."

[Firehead]

I nod getting a better understanding of what he meant by pruning. "I see, so it's just some day to day maintanence when nothing big is happening. The Orc scouts sound more interesting for today. Are we starting to day with that or are you going to teach me some about the city first?"

[Sallin_Kari]

"Exactly. Without it we'd be beset by endless hordes of monsters that the forest can not sustain so they turn to preying on the town," He sums up before stroking his chin, "It won't be until tomorrow until your pet will have fully recovered from the drug, so we have time. What would you want to learn about the town? I would be certainly willing to help in that regard but I need to know your interests as there are a lot of things to know, much of which is... for only those of estoric interests."

[Firehead]

I nod recalling that Nekothra wasn't feeling well. "Right, I wouldn't want to be going on adventures if my little guy still isn't feeling well, but I thought you said he'd be back to himself by noon?" I thought about what I knew of the town, but outside of the immediate area, the only spots I'd really took note of were the shipping district, and that brothel I'd stumbled upon without realizing guessing that's what he meant by esoteric. "I guess I'd like to know a bit about good places to shop for supplies. I already know about the tailor, but there's gotta be more in a place so big."

"Recover enough to be mobile. I was not clear with my wording before but I was saying that in the context of a less... violent setting. He'll still be lethargic from the remnants of the drug, so it wouldn't be a good idea to bring him into danger but he should be able to follow you around town by noon," He corrects himself, before pulling out a map of town tapped various location as he mentions them, "As for your other question, yes there are plenty of shops, only some of which I would presume to interest you, unless you happen to be a smith. Those most essential to you would be a handful of magic shops, that house a wide selection but limited depth of all sorts of magical devices, enchanting, reagents, potions, etcetera. Blacksmiths of course, probably less useful for you but if you want a knife or something it is still where you go. Tailors would be more useful for your armor needs, but you have found one. Next is ... well technically a carpenter but he also makes bows, staffs and the like. Some markets are over here and you'll find most of the random things you need, spices, food, knickknacks. Some restaurants... Anything else you might be interested that I haven't mentioned?"

I nodded, "I had no idea he'd taken something so potent to keep him out for a full 24 hours." I listened as he showed me most of the shopping points including some places for food. I realized that having been knocked out for both of the last two evenings, and having woken up later than Lorthin, I had been relying on him for breakfast and not doing any of the cooking myself. Even if I was sure, I wasn't as good as him, it only made sense to do my fair share too, so I decided to try and take care of dinner tonight. "No, that covers everything I can think of at the moment." I thought for another moment. "I guess I should ask about parts of town I should either avoid, or be extra careful in would be the next important thing." I gave the map a cursory glance trying to see if I could find the shipping district I'd found though I couldn't really help but do the same with the brothel I'd also passed.

Reversing the directions given to your by the guard you find the rough location of that area you found, and you think the brothel was on that side of town as well. "Well, obviously it is best to avoid the slums over here, but you'd have little reason to go through there anyways. There is also the Crown's warehouse district over here," He circles the area you were in with his finger, "The guards are a bit cagey as of late. A shipment of precious metals disappeared off the back of a wagon waiting changing out for fresh horses and driver. Even without that, no good hanging around there. Other then that you should be safe on the street as long as it's still light outside and you stay out of alleys."

[Firehead]

Having been told where not to go, I figure that should be enough. "I think that just about covers it. I'd like to leave something to be explored. Thank you for the lesson." A part of me wanting to go check some places out, but I didn't want to leave Nekothra in his current state, so I decided to wait until he was at least walking around before I go out for anything. I look out around the suite. "So I've been here a couple days now, so is there anything I could do to help out around here? I kinda feel like I've been relying a bit much on your hospitality so far."

He taps his lips in thought at your question, "I suppose helping me clean and cook would be helpful. Picking up groceries would be another task. Probably best if I pick up the more exotic spices but you should be able to handle the rest if you wish."

[Firehead]

I nod, "I'd rather wait until Nekothra's walking around before I go out to do any shopping, so allow me to do some tidying up until lunch." I figured it would be best to do the other rooms before I took care of the main room last. I also saved my own room for second to last to delay disturbing Nekothra's rest as long as possible.

He nods, letting you take care of cleaning up for breakfast as he moves to a writing desk, opening up a drawer and retrieving some paper, a pen, and an inkwell.

I went ahead and started cleaning up the dishes from breakfast first. Once that was taken care of, I grabbed a duster to clean up on top of anything before I'd get the brrom to clean the floors.

You finish cleaning up, though Neko stirs as you clean your own room. Lorthin stays very much the same, though from the long strokes he is making with the pen you suspect he isn't writing but rather drawing. Still, Neko is slowly walking around, so you could go out to get supplies for lunch, or see what is available here, if you wish to take over cooking.

I was glad to see that Neko was starting to move around again. I rubbed his head after I had finished putting away the cleaning supplies. Seeing that Lorthin was drawing something and didn't seem to be getting close to finished with whatever it was, I decided to take care of lunch myself. I could go out and shop, but I figured it would be best to see what we supplies we had first. Best to use up older stuff first, and I could always restock later anyways.

You open up the cupboards, exploring what is in stock. Somewhat unexpectedly you can't find a shred of meat in the entire place, it all being various vegetables and mushrooms backed by a truly impressive spice collection.

Seeing the contents of Lorthin's supplies, it became clear he was a vegetarian. I didn't particularly mind, but Nekothra couldn't survive on such a diet, so at the very least, I'd either need to procure meat for him, or find somewhere I could let him loose to hunt on his own without causing a panic. He had a full chicken to himself yesterday, and I was sure I still had some jerky from the trip to tide him over if he did need something. I decided to saute some mushrooms and beets to serve on a bed of lettuce. I stuck primarily to spices I knew when sauteeing planning to try experimenting later.

You quickly get to work and soon have a nice meal ready to serve. Lorthin, coming over as you portion out the plates, picks up some of the umberwoot you saw before and a grate and gives it a few sprinkles. He pauses for a moment to see if you want some on yours before putting it away.

I noticed Lorthin add some of his umberwoot to add to his meal. I accepted his offer graciously adding just a bit to my own plate, but I was a little curious. "You've put that on every meal I've seen you eat. You must really like it, but you even share it with me without reservation, too. Isn't it hard to get it up here?"
