Madison found all sorts of minor protections from salt circles to strange symbols and blood sacrifices... which methods would hold depended on the entity in question. Against mere mortals it seemed the best course of action was a firearm unless one possessed certain 'gifts'. Jack stirred in his sleep and made a few noises that reminded her more of a beast than a man. He seemed like he was in good control but she couldn't help remember him trying to choke her with his own cock intentionally or not.

Well, that wasn't all that helpful she thought to herself, though she did try to remember some of them in case she might ever need them at some point. For now, she went and made sure no one could easily see into the room, and propped a chair against the door knob to help make it harder for anyone trying to enter. Then she found a comfortable spot on the bed to keep watch from while she waited for Jack to get the rest he needed...all the while thinking about the child she was going to birth.

Madison felt her stomach rolling as she moved around and felt it to find she now had a slightly swollen gut. At this rate she only had a week at most before giving birth to this... thing. As she turned back towards Jack she saw the demon again perched on her bed he had a smile on his face that looked like a dozen razor blades. "They have cheated, in order to balance the scales I may directly serve you in some way"

Madison was not entirely surprised to see the Demon present in her room. "Isn't you being here a bit dangerous? Can't those folks track you or some such?" She asked, figuring that was how they had learned of where she lived. As to what he had said though..."How exactly can you serve me? I'm not stupid enough to think that there aren't limits to what you'd be allowed to do."

"The opposition has cheated, I am free to balance the scales... if your request is not within my power I will ask again..." He said simply not having any inclination to give her a strait answer. She remembered what she had read earlier in the day about the process of binding demons and figured she might be able to get a spell off so long as she made him stay perfectly still. With Jack and the demon protecting her she might feel a little safer... of course asking him to stay put and failing the ritual would simply mean she wasted her request.

She thought about what he said, and the research she had already done. However, while binding him might be possible, she wasn't confident in her ability to do so. More than that, she didn't know how the Demon would end up reacting when it learned her plan was to find some way to prevent it from trying to take over the world...or at least doing so in the manner the Demon wanted it to.

"How about you just keep the people who want me dead away. I'd really prefer to keep on living."

"I can delay them for a time, if that is your wish." He said with a nod as his form began to melt into the shadows again. Madison jumps as her phone begins ringing. She glances down to see her editor is calling for some reason.

Picking up her phone, Madison hits the answer button, wondering why her editor is calling her right now. Maybe it had something to do with the story she was supposed to be writing...

Madison answered and heard her editor begin rambling rather quickly. "Madison? It's Amy are you alright? You're apartments torn to pieces, someone broke in and your things are everywhere. The police arrived, called me and said they want to talk to you for questioning. What exactly is going on?" She finally slowed down enough for Madison to respond but it sounded like she was in a hurry. "God I hope they didn't get your laptop, if you had any progress on your latest book on that thing it will set you back weeks..."

Madison sighed, shaking her head as she let herself fall back on the bed. "You wouldn't believe me even if I told you..." She said, and then a rather snarky tone filled her voice as she added "And yes, my laptop and its precious story are perfectly safe."

"I'm just making sure... that things worth more than anything else you had with you. Now when should I arrange the appointment with the police? They want you to come in willingly but I got the vibe they're not afraid to put out an APB if you don't speak with them soon." Amy let out a sigh. "Look why don't we just answer their questions then move back out of state. Nothing good has happened since you got here... there's something wrong with this town."

Madison sighed. "I don't know if talking to the police is a good idea...heck, I don't even know if trying to leave is a good idea. Its just all so...complicated." Then she glanced over towards Jack, and smiled. "Besides, I wouldn't say nothing good has happened. I've met cute guy whose really good at fucking. I think I might keep him."

"... if you don't speak with the police they will find you eventually Madison. Look just call me back if you change your mind." She said with a sigh hanging up on her. Two strong arms wrapped around Madisons stomach pushing her breasts up. "I hope I'm that cute guy you mentioned?" He said with a laugh. "I'll take you by the church to meet with that priest whenever your ready."

Madison sighed as well, not sure if not going to the police was a good idea or not. Still, she wasn't too worried. She had Jack after all. And speaking of him...

"Mmmm...oh yes, your definitively cute. Especially when your being a good doggy." She giggled, a hand stroking his inner leg for a moment as he told her this. "I think that'd be a good idea...the sooner the better, especially with the cops wanting to question me."

"I'll get him on the phone and find a meeting place... you probably don't want to walk on holy ground before we get this thing sorted out." He said giving her stomach a rub. She felt whatever was inside her shift causing her stomach to do flipflops. In a few minutes Jack was dressed and standing by the door watching her expectantly... much like a dog about to go for a walk might.

She nodded, trying to keep herself from feeling too bothered by what was growing inside of her. She too was soon ready, and she shook her head in amusement, a warm smile on her face as she opened the door and motioned for him to lead on.

The two of them began walking towards the west side of town where the large buildings faded to suburbia. Jack had pulled out his phone at some point along the walk but Madison was more focused on the dark shadows that seemed to be following them even in midday. Most could be ignored as her mind playing tricks on her from lack of sleep... but one or two were a little to real to be her imagination. They approached a small home at the end of one block and Jack stopped putting his phone away. "This is his house...go on in. I'm going to deal with the ghoul stalking us." He said without explanation.

She nodded, wondering if indeed some of the shadows she had seen following them had been creatures or people out to get her, from either side of the divine really at this point. Still, she quickly made to enter the home, wanting to know what could be done to at least ensure the end of the world wasn't coming from the child she was carrying.

Madison was about to knock when a short elderly man swung the door open and stepped aside. "Come in, come in!" He said rolling his head to beckon her into his home. "Jack waiting outside? I figured he might want to hear this but if he's busy...." The old man shrugged closing the door and followed her into a small kitchen. "So I hear you've been fornicati'n with the devil?" He asked with the faintest grin on his wrinkled face. "What did you think would happen if you let a devil plow you?" He asked pouring some coffee for himself. "You want any?" He asked before sitting down with her.

"Actually, he said something about dealing with a ghoul...and hey, how was I supposed to know I wasn't imagining things, or that cooky old man wasn't some whack job." She said as she nodded at a cup of coffee, it'd probably do her some good. "Boy I wonder what my parents would say...no wait, I know at least what my mom would say." She giggled slightly as she took a sip, then murmured "Was it a good fuck at least?"
