Bio: Having been a sort of casual fan of ASOIAF and Game of Thrones alike for sometime but feeling like they should start from the beginning (rather than later on or just reading stuff off the wiki or fanfiction) Kayin one day decides to try and sit down and listen to an audiobook while writing. They drift off though and as their eyes close, everything seems to spin and they feel themselves falling... falling...

Notes:
Chaos Magick
Kayin can bend magick to their will. When attempting anything more complicated then something akin to cantrips or basic, limited telekensis, there is a chance the magic will surge and do something more than intended. This can be good, bad, or anywhere inbetween. This magic and the traits associated with it (her eyes and the markings on her hands) can be passed down.

The first thing you noticed as the world stopped spinning was that you'd landed on something soft, the second thing you noticed was the chilly edge the air around you had. It wasn't exactly cold, but it certainly wasn't as warm as you're house had been. Lifting your head and opening your eyes, you found yourself deep inside a forest sprawled out on a pile of leaves. Standing back up, it appears to be mid-morning.

As you're coming to terms with your surroundings, you hear a branch snap in the distance. (6, 6, 5, 5, 1)Ducking behind a tree, you poke your head around looking in the direction of the sound. A short distance away, you see a large party of people. They are a group of men wearing animal pelts and hardened leather. There appear to be a good 15 or 20 of them. As you watch, you notice that there are a few children carrying a bundle each. From there you notice three older teens carrying similar bundles, and one of them just moved in their grip.

Groaning as she picks herself up, she blinks and looks around at the forest around her. The chill in the air makes her glad for the clothes she is wearing, which she realizes is different from the t-shirt and shorts she'd been wearing back home. She spots familiar markings on her hands, and feels a strange... tingle run through her being as she focuses on them. Magic maybe? If she was what she thought she was now... then she noticed the swell on her chest and something missing between her legs. Right, being female was rather different and surprising too, but being in a strange forest in the middle of who knew where took priority. Until the snap, whereupon she quickly hid.

When she looked to the source of the sound, she blinked a bit. At first, because they looked straight out of a medieval movie. But then something about a few of them seemed... vaguely familiar. As she noticed the bundles, there was a tiny part of her brain that perked up. But well, she had no way to be sure. Maybe this is some weird dream? she thought to herself as she debated her options.

Tailing them would likely get her spotted regardless. She wasn't exactly stealthy... even if what she was wearing would help when night fell. Which would be a while. So, hesitantly, and keeping her hands where they could obviously be seen, she slowly moved out from behind the tree and began to approach them. She'd call out when she got close.

"Excuse me? Hello? Begging your pardon's, but I seem to have misplaced... well, myself. I have... absolutely no idea where I am."

The group suddenly turns as you reveal yourself swords quickly pointed in your direction as each man readies for an attack even as you had clearly caught them off guard. You notice the seven younger followers are pushed back though the teenagers seem a little more resistant to being protected. The man that is clearly in charge stands immediately behind the front-most line of men looking you up and down stoically. An older man standing beside him speaks just barely loud enough for you to hear. "I don't like the look of her garb." The man clears his throat. "You claim to be lost, but who exactly are you, and what lands do you come from?" His hand remains on a sword impressively nearly as long as he is tall.

The other men keep their swords at the ready for now giving the impression that they have no intention of attacking unless they are either ordered to, or you make a sudden move. The younger of the group make an effort to get a look at you from around those trying to coral them and keep between them and you.

"Easy, easy, I mean no trouble." Kayin calls back, going ahead and dropping to her knees where she is as she keeps her hands raised to show she means no threat. "I am Kayin Dreemurr, and well... far away is probably the most accurate answer at the moment. My gut tells me you likely wouldn't know the name... and that I'm more lost than I had any intention of ever being."

If I have magic... maybe I can play up the idea I was trying to use it but it messed up, and sent me here? She wasn't sure they'd believe that either, but after a moment more of thought, decided to throw caution to the wind. Unless they decided to try and cut her down... she could always just choose to turn and go wandering a different way, hope she found some civilization or someone more friendly.

"A land called America. I am a mage there, studying magic. I was trying to use a spell, to move from one place to another. But it seems to have gone... very wrong. I was most certainly NOT in a forest even just ten minutes ago."

The men seem to calm a little as you put yourself prone trying your best to look as non-threatening as possible. The man in charge nods as you finish speaking. Finally, after some thought, he steps in front of the line and holds his hand low and to the side the guards taking that as a sign to put away their weapons. "If you are truly lost and as far away from home as you say, I can't very well turn you away. Even in the summer, the north can be a harsh place. I am Eddard Stark, lord of the North of the Seven Kingdoms. I have never heard of this America, but we can at least offer you somewhere warm to rest."

He nods his head to the side, and the men begin forming back into the same perimeter they had been taking when you'd first seen them. As they begin to walk along the path, it seems you are welcome to follow them. The temperature in what seems to be the morning is rather brisk for summer.

Kayin's mind raced, even as a small corner cheered a bit in having guessed right. Though she still wasn't sure if this was a dream or real yet. But the rest of her mind was focused more on the name. She recognized the name... and given the bundles...

I've arrived at the start of things... She thought to herself as she nodded to his words and slowly got back up. This would be interesting, dream or real. She knew bits and pieces of this time, but not as much as she did for earlier periods. She smiled though, curtseying as she said,

"You have my gratitude, Milord. Any help is appreciated." She moves to join them, her eyes running over everyone and everything with curiosity and interest, though her eyes dart to the bundles of each. Direwolves, if I recall correctly?

Following along, you notice the children walking ahead but giving you a look every now and then though they also seem rather focused on the bundles which shift about every now and then, and you swear you do see a rather large muzzle even for what you expect to be just a pup.

Eventually, the group step out of the woods. Without the trees for cover, the wind is much more biting here, and you notice even those from this land pulling their pelts tighter to their bodies though Eddard himself doesn't do so as if the wind doesn't bother him. You do recall a line somewhere about Ned Stark having ice water flowing through his veins.

In the distance, you see a stone castle that looks well-maintained but very old nonetheless. Eddard turns to you. "May I present Winterfell. It doesn't look like much, but its walls are sturdy and keep out the wind as well as keep in the warmth of the fire."

Kayin makes a point of giving warm smiles to the children when they glance her way and her gaze meets their own. She does blink when she spots a muzzle of one of the pups though. Knowing Direwolves were big was one thing... even when puppies. Seeing it was another matter entirely. When the group leaves the forest, she curses and pulls her own hood up, tucking her ponytail in even as she gets the impression the hood may be obscuring much more of her face than it should. She wishes her own clothes were a bit thicker... or at least enchanted to keep the elements better at bay. Eddard not being phased by it leaves her a bit envious.

"It's quite a sight to me all the same, for it is one new to me." Kayin replies with warmth in her tone. Then she promptly shivers as she adds, "Though as much as I'd enjoy admiring it from afar, I think I'd prefer to admire it within said warmth."

He nods, "Yes, we've all had a long walk and could probably use the warmth ourselves." He leads the way walking towards the castle in the distance. The path is uneventful as you pass by a few small farms getting curious looks and nods from those working the fields.

When you finally arrive, you find the place to be a lot more active than it looked from a distance. Children scurry about as their parents go about their work. Most of the guards disperse at that point, and the kids with their wolves also leave heading towards one building. Eddard turns to you. "Come, I'll introduce you to my wife." He gestures over to the largest building dead center of the castle.

Once you arrive in the building, you feel the warmth wash over you. While you can see a large fire burning in the hearth, the walls themselves seem to be emitting heat as well. A tall, older woman steps in looking rather imposing in her own right. "Ah, this is my wife, Lady Catelyn Stark. Catelyn, this is Kayin Dreemurr. She says she has apparently lost her way from America."

With the biting and chilly wind despite the warmth from the sun, Kayin finds herself wanting them to hurry along, but sticks to the pace as best as she can. She tries to see if she can tap into the strange tingling of what she assumes is magic to try and warm herself up a bit, but she doesn't try it all that much. Not quite sure yet how it might manifest or how much control she actually has over it, so she imagines her brief attempt to be very much akin to dipping ones toes or a finger into water to test it.

Nodding to Eddard, she follows as she tries her best to recall what she knew of Catelyn. Originally of House Tully, wasn't the biggest fan of Jon, was more aware of the games that got played more in the rest of Westeros then they tended to be here... that was about all she could remember offhand.

"Ohhh, that is sooo much nicer." Kayin can't help but say as she steps into the main building of the keep. She's nearly halfway to the fire when she spots Lady Catelyn, and stops as she remembers her manners. She gives a curtsey and inclines her head to Catelyn as she says,

"A pleasure, milady. My gratitude to your husband for offering me help extends to you as well."

(4, 6, 5, 6, 5)You're surprised by how easily warmth spreads up your arms from your hand as your body temperature rises a small amount. For a small dipping of the toe, it's quite effective to say the least making the rest of the walk much more pleasant. Once you're inside, it makes sense to drop the spell as the building is fairly warm on its own. It would probably be good to get some warmer clothes to wear, but your magic could clearly do in a pinch.

The Lady Catelyn nods as you express your gratitude to her. "You must be rather lost to be wandering the North without furs to keep you warm. We'll find something suitable for you. Though perhaps you could do with a warm bath first." A young woman steps from the door Catelyn had entered from. "I can see to a bath for her, my lady." Eddard nods. "Yes, our guest took to the cold poorly initially." The girl gestures for you to follow as Eddard approaches his wife, and they begin to speak in hushed tones. You can't pick up much, but it appears he had returned successfully from the task he had been out to do.

Finding her magic to respond so quickly and easily leaves her wondering if it'll always be so easy. She finds herself shaking her head at that though. Things would be too easy if that was the case. There was bound to be some tricks to it. Still, it was nice to know tapping into it wasn't that difficult.

"I wasn't expecting to be in a land such as this... my spell was supposed to just take me a short distance." Kayin remarks, but nods her head to Lady Catelyn's words. She moves to follow after the girl, a servant perhaps? Or maybe it was one of the daughters... Eddard had, what, two? Or was it three... Vague recollections at best from things I've picked up... in this time, I'll be doing more floundering. She thought to herself, even as a small part of her wondered what Eddard might be saying to her.

The girl leads you down several corridors before finally opening into a room with a small tub. She walks over to a faucet sticking out from the wall pouring warm water directly into the tub. "Winterfell is built over a natural hot spring, so we pipe the water through the walls to keep the castle warm. It's also convenient for drawing a warm bath. She touches the water. You might want to wait a moment for it to cool though."

She stands back up walking to you. "I can take your clothes to be washed before bringing something for you to wear in the meantime." She waits there a moment before you realize she expects you to undress and hand over your clothes while she's standing there.

Surprised to see such, but then reminding herself that Westeros was a land of sometimes... anarchonistic mixing of things when it came to tech, she nodded and began stripping. Despite the fact it'd be the first time she was naked as a woman, she didn't feel bothered at all with the only other person present being another girl. "Not sure how much of a wash they actually need, but here you go." She remarked, and added, "Thank you very much." with a slight bow of her head. Where before she might have been inclined to practically throw herself into the tub, thanks to her magic she wasn't feeling nearly as cold now, and gave it a moment before seeking to slip into the toasty water.

The girl nods taking your robes in hand before leaving you to your bath in peace. Despite the time you'd waited to get in, the water is still plenty warm as you feel what little chill had remained from the outside receding. The woman returns with a simple but serviceable dress. The neck is covered in fur, and the sleeves and skirt are also rather thick probably to keep the arms and legs warm. It would certainly keep you warmer than your robes, but perhaps you could have your robes could be made warmer if you preferred the look of it. "Do you want a tour of the castle, or would you prefer to rest first?"

Soaking and relaxing in the warm water and letting out a sigh as she tried to remember more about this point in time... and not recalling much more than she had already. She hummed to herself at the girls question as she returned, even as she wondered if maybe she could enchant her own robes to handle the weather better. "A tour would be lovely, but only if it won't interfere with anyone's duties. A guest I may be, but I do not wish to be a burden on anyone."

She nods, "It won't be a problem at all. Plus it'll give us a chance to introduce you to others, so everyone knows you are a guest rather than a stranger." She takes you around the main building. You'd already been to the main hall, but she shows you to the kitchens, the study, and points down the hall where Lord Stark and his family reside. "Of course, you won't have any reason to go down there."

Taking you out into the courtyard, she takes you to the smithy, the kennels, the stables, and points out a few guest houses. While you're walking around, you notice one of the older boys behind one of the buildings going over various tricks with the rather large wolf pup.

Finishing her bath and doing her best to dry off... not inclined to try her magic again at the moment to speed such up, she slips into the offered dress and lets the girl lead her along. The study catches her attention the most, wondering if she'd be able to read things as easily as she was speaking here and hoping such to be the case. Though she wasn't as sure about the assessment the servant had there on that last bit.

She does her best to memorize where things are as she's led back outside. Though as she spots one of the older boys, she hums a bit and asks, "Who is that young man? One of the Lord's children?"

The girl looks over where you're pointing. "Oh yes, that's Robb, Lord Eddard's eldest son." You see the wolf pup hop seeming more interested in play, but Robb keeps firm in teaching it to sit and shake on command, and it does eventually relent. The girl eyes the small pup warily. "To think they would not only find Dire Wolf pups out there but six of them even. I heard the mother was as large as a man." She trails off in thought before shaking her head. "Nevermind. Would you like to go meet him?"

"His heir, then." Kayin noted, though she let it be phrased with the slightest of curiosity. To play up her not being familiar with the land and all that. She chuckled a bit as she asked, "Dire Wolves that rare then?" Still she found herself glad she hadn't met an adult one out in the wild before she saw the party. Even with magic, one could probably tear into her right quick, or do whatever one might wish to her.

"By all means. You did mention the tour would be a good way to introduce myself. And while I came in with them, I did not learn any but the Lord's name."
