Can't say much about the other project since it's not really my kinda thing, but this looks like it has a pretty decent premise, short as it is, and can easily be built on for some quick action based game-play (that I honestly don't usually see on this forum, so there would probably be interest due to that, unless i'm just missing a lot of content.) Other than that, I really like the character art. Also, if you do go forward with this, I would recommend if at all possible to make a way to rebind keys. I personally use a laptop, and so trying to play an action game with a track pad is almost impossible for me, so being able to bind attack and camera movement to Z, Q and E respectively helps with usability.

Noted, I should have said so, but this is mostly a test of the Event system, there's a different that I would use for the real thing, there's a pretty extensive demo here: https://www.assetstore.unity3d.com/en/#!/content/9076 This has leveling up, skills, inventory, stuff like that, and an over-the-shoulder camera angle instead, but it's still going to be tricky without a real mouse. If I were to program my own camera system I would go for a beat 'em up inspired side-view, like Golden Axe, or the modern games, Rusty Hearts or GetAmped2. But I'm not eager to start ripping out the wires, the appeal of this system is that I have to do very little programming to get started.

Either way, this seems like an interesting idea. I was only noting camera and button assignment since I don't know much about Unity and figured that would be a simple thing to be able to rebind keys. And yeah, changing the entire system would just be pointless if you've already gotten a start. Either way something like this would be a change of pace on the forum from the large amounts of point and click, Visual Novel, and turn based systems I usually see on the forum. It's always nice to see a change of pace in my opinion.

Still goofing around with this. Above you can see a combination of HitBear's full Action RPG engine, and the Dungeon Architect add-on for Unity which generates dungeons for me.
