Soldier's life (Completed)

Postby pyorgara » Tue Jan 24, 2017 2:39 pm

Hey everyone!

Soldier’s life is now complete! All events, battles and functionality had been added. You now have 3 endings for the ice queen’s fall complete with their own art. Speaking of art, some scenes will remain CG-less since my lovely wife couldn’t keep up with me and is now working on the art for my next game. It sucks but that’s life.

The plot:
You play as Payton, a captain in one of the armies tasked with destroying the ever growing hordes of monsters. You serve under Colonel Vanora, a powerful fighter and cunning strategist but known far and wide as an ice queen that sees her soldiers as numbers, not humans. With a quirk of fate, you find yourself promoted over her and now have the power to make her pay for everything she's done. Sexually, of course.

Game contains: M/F, Monster/F, Humiliation, Degradation, Anal, Mind break, Bondage, Exhibition.

looks like it's been in development in a while which is awesome. Also has some of my favourite themes in so i'll be watching very closely.

*Edit - there were a couple of buttons. Notably the Curio merchant and the last two public options that were not responsive. Is this a bug or simply due to content not made for them yet?

I'm not through your game yet, so my thought could be irrelevant, but I still want to share them.

My gameplay so far basically was putting her in the stocks, let her work in the kitchen, get one fight and return to town. Repeat.

Played like that I got her self-worth down to level five without leveling even on of my stats up.
And if I am honest, I don't really see the point of leveling my stats, either. Just maybe if I want to defeat her in a duel, but if I compare her stats to mine and considering how long it takes to level up, I will probably have her Rep at zero way before I stand a fighting chance.

Another thing is; it's easy to miss scenes. Which I find kinda sad, because it's missed content.
A solution could be that SW/REP won't drop until every scene is played,
or maybe make a fixed order how everything is played, no matter how low her stats already are.
My favorite solution would be to let the player chose which one he wants to watch. This also would make it possible to re watch scenes later in the game.

tl;dr: love your game, balance exp, let player rewatch scenes

Yeah, if you click on something and you don't even get a little blurb, it means that that part is not in the current build.

Glad you're having fun!

Leveling your stats means that you can explore deeper in the sortie levels. There are other fun enemies to fight but, more importantly, there are other sex scenes out there.

Later on, when I am doing the game's polish, I'll add a gallery where you guys can re-watch scenes that you found. As for missing scenes, I understand that it's annoying to miss some but that's life when you play a game. I find that I already did a lot to make it easy for you guys to see everything. ;)

I like this game, it's very fun. I haven't done a lot of sorties in the wastelands yet, but these are my suggestions so far:

1) Battles are too one-sided in favor of whoever goes first. It's basically a curb stomp every fight. If I go first (and I usually do), I can usually kill the enemy on the first turn without taking losses. I think the problem is that the units do too much damage relative to their life. Or rather, that units don't have any life. I think if you did it like everything else and had a unit have 100 HP instead of 1, and reduce damage output down to doing maybe 50 dmg or 25 dmg per unit, that would make battles more back and forth rather than a 1 shot kill every time. (If you do this, you would also need to increase reputation and gold gains, since battles would take longer and you'd take more losses -> less battles overall --> increased reputation/gold so overall output is the same)

2) Maybe also change weapon/armor bonuses to be % based rather than a flat number? It seems like they're just a static +/- dmg bonus, but I can't say for sure since I don't know the formulas. Also, and not sure if this is related, but the infantry's defend doesn't seem to do very much. Not that I've used it too often, since it's mostly when I lose initiative rolls, but the enemy seems to cut through them like butter regardless.

3) I think there needs to be another way to spend money. I have over 700k gold right now, earn at least 30k per sortie, but I can only spend 10k at most by training. Maybe the merchant will fix this, I don't know.

4) I think we should be forced to stay in the same area during a sortie. If I lose most of my army and have to retreat, I can just go back to the plains, fight 1 battle against a weak enemy, and then return to town, thereby avoiding the penalty for retreating. This seems abuseable.

5) Do I ever get to kill that stupid dryad?

Have you used your archers to pin down enemies? Or your calvary to counter / defend? I'll be the first to admit that I get stomped every so now and then, but if you think tactical and retreat your archers or set your cav to defend it usually works out pretty well for me.

Hopefully more later, but yeah money is not the issue, time in town / actions can be an issue.

Glad you're having fun!

1 - I get what you mean for the battle system but that's what I wanted. Speedy fights that would last 1 to 2 rounds so as to keep things moving.

2 - Yeah, there is a whole formula back there. :) The defence move doubles the defence bonus from the equipment so it's better when you get better gear.

3 - There will be. There's already a store in the patreon build and there will soon be even more options.

4 - That kind of things will be looked at when I do more polish. I am still doing some pretty broad strokes right now.

5 - Lol. I think you're the first one who wants to. Right now, she's always going to slip away. When the whole ground is your escape hatch, it's pretty hard to catch you.

I stopped aplaying round when i stumbled upon the first incomplete scene, but i have to say this is a lot better than Corrupting the Priestess and I can't wait to see more of it.

Yay, now I don't have to deal with that stupid dryad at all! The gollas are pretty annoying, since they make archers 100% useless and, without weapon upgrades, infantry are pretty useless too. But they're still not half as bad as the dryad.

The hunters event where you get an extra archer/scout would be really OP, if there was that much of a reason to stay out in the field for a long time. But since tokens cost less reputation now, I don't have to spend as much time out in the field before reaching max reputation again. Though I bet beating whatever the record was for staying out in the wastelands that they talked about in the intro would be pretty easy after recruiting an extra 10 archers/scouts.

Haha. Feel free to ignore the crap out of that Dryad if you want. And I believe that the record was 63 days in the third level without leaving so that would still be a pretty hard thing to do.

This game ended up being a lot more fun than I anticipated. Loved it!

Would we be able to defame Van's father, following her rep reaching 0?

Also if you ever add achievements, you should have one for reducing Vanora's stats to 0 purely through duels =D

I'm happy you enjoyed it!

I don't think we'll touch on her father like that but he will feature in some endings.

That would be a good achievement but it's not in the plans to make them at this moment.

On the bottom right of the main text box, there's a button named "items" Click it and then select the outfit you want her to wear.
