Abelius, I'm honestly not surprised (ever so slightly offended at your insinuation, actually, but I can get over that). Brief history lesson: Starfox Adventures was an old Gamecube title that basically played like a ripoff of Legend of Zelda in a series of space combat shooting games. It's the game where Krystal is first introduced as a character and the lizardmen (Sharpclaws) and their leader, general Scales, are introduced as villains. An artist under the name "VixenTamer" did a lot of rape/bondage artwork on a character you can probably guess, which inspired an animator under the name of PlayShapes to build the classic Legend of Krystal game, which eventually spawned a fan forum that vastly outgrew its origin and kept on long after PlayShapes retired and vanished and the follow-on projects fell apart, and here we are.

It's also why the forum looks like a super clunky, hastily made generic message board coming at us from 2010: Because it is.

Anyway, in the old game a warlord unites the clans and arms everyone with muskets and... Flying pirate ships, I think, and somehow his plot for world domination involves splitting the planet into four chunks but he's also possessed by the series' main villain? I can't remember and it never made much sense anyway, but it would be cool if we could upgrade friendly Sharpclaw AI with blunderbusses to help out in combat, give the story progression some gameplay-weight. Just don't make sex scenes a part of combat you have to avoid if you want to win, that's why I never finished Twin Orbs: Trying to see the point of game shouldn't lead you to a game over.

Oooh, that sounds great to me!

But Totemist does have a point, I believe that any game that actively punishes you for getting to the porn part, should include a gallery mode, which you should have to unlock by either getting the porn scenes, or beating the game (that way, you're either being rewarded for going for the porn, or actually playing the game).

I definitely prefer the animated expressions, my only gripe is that they seem too slow. I think VNs like Ace Attorney nail the speed in that regard.

Nope, not he/she. If I knew how to program and animate I'd dive first thing into trying to build a remake of the old kongregate game 1066 with functioning multiplayer and no one would ever hear from me again.

I do like the mechanics, and the idea of a gallery mode with multiple unlock paths, but it would be kind of strange to have sex be a negative function of combat and also woven into the story. Chiming in with Troopage, speeding up the face animations a bit should solve any problems.

Thanks for the heads up! As you may see I signed up recently on the forum, although I was a lurker for some time. I think I played Twin Orbs before the original LoK 0.2, so my understanding of this little universe was certainly messed up. :roll:

I'll make sure of better research the topic before jeopardizing character development. Not that we want to make a clone of course, but some nods to the sources I'm pretty sure will be welcomed.

And there I was asking myself why on Earth an apparently primitive lizard village had a tavern. That clearly is unimportant compared to a blunderbuss wielding humanoid dinosaur army... with 'World of Warcraft-esque' flying ships (?) to boot.

I shouldn't be surprised though, coming from a Japanese company. :P

It would require some changes in the plot, though I don't see any impediment like a 'Prime Directive' of no intervention in native affairs. Looks weird to be honest, because we never though of the lizard people as an Iron Age civilization. Well, we'll see... I can't compromise on something so important now.

Game mechanics spoiler ahead:

The plan is that if the village is attacked, you could either help fighting the enemy, or "distract" them... :roll:

If you lose a fight there will be a possibility of Krys being hate-fucked on the spot, and then the event will end with a strategic resources penalty, but never a Game Over screen.

And if you opt for the distracting strategy, a mini game of sexual endurance of sorts will take place between you and the 'enemy'. Winning that mini event will mean you take control of the sex scene and drain the poor guy of stamina. But if you lose it's you who will lose stamina and may pass out, with the same result as losing the combat mechanic.

These will take some time to implement though.

It won't be needed, as explained in the previous spoiler. Nevertheless, a Gallery Mode is always welcomed. In this case I'm thinking of...

...making a dungeon-like scene, where Krys could be paired with other characters for sex. And both the characters and poses would be unlockable as the main game progresses.

I've already speed up those by a 20% by Kuja's advice. I'll try to see that game in action though, as reference.

I need to put aside some time to build that test demo so you guys can decide on the matter. It should be up in the Patreon by this weekend, where we'll run the poll.

Thing is, I *think* I should be able to implement both: static and animated expressions and add a menu option to choose between them. But before I add that workload to the list (all dialogue should be scripted accordingly), I want to see if either option is overwhelmingly chosen or not.

Interesting, watching the lab; and I notice the tails are all; just hanging there. Wouldn't they be actively using their tails; at least Krystal as her tail seems to still be long and fully functional? At the very least to put it up to provide full access; otherwise, gently wrap it around partner and caress them with it.

Mmm, the 'lab', you say...? You mean the latest tech demo or the teaser we posted some months ago with a lot of couples doing 'things' in the background?

Anyway, yes, Krys' tail (on idle pose) has a slow swinging animations that triggers randomly at the moment. That could be improved creating different ones and mixing them. But I don't know if you mean that.

In case you're referring to them being more 'active' in sex positions, well, I tried here...:

But the problem I face at animating this particular tail is that those 'spherical sections' don't deform really well when turning them upwards, so what you say about Krys' tail being in the way it's almost a given at the moment. For a more convincing 'pressed flat' look, Kuja would need to draw a completely new tail and me rigging it into the model, and we prefer to focus on launching the demo ASAP.

Hi guys,

I'm just wondering if you could help us to come up with some ideas for unique characters in the lizard village... Multiple minds are more creative than one or two, so we'd welcome any thoughts you may have.

The village area is gonna be certainly big compared to the original game, fully justifying the run animation I'll make at some point in the future. :P And I'd like that every character you come across in there have a unique name and dialogue.

Problem with that is that we have too little time to think up all these, and that in turn affects the village's layout, as we also wanted for everyone to have a home according to their personal status in the clan (single/mated, low/high rank).

It's not like I want to make a The Sims game here... :lol: But I don't really feel like making generic males and put them in line to screw Krys... Well, at least not everyday. :roll:

So, if you could come up with some 'character sheet', with a brief description about their role in the tribe and personality, that would help us to speed up the content creation phase.

Oh, and females also of course!

What kind of names are you looking for here?

Like Claw for the head hunter or the lizardman in charge of defense? Or would it be less descriptive like Hraanul or some such?

Good question.

I like nicknames, but the problem with them is that we'd run out of them pretty fast if given to everyone in the clan. So I think a mix of both would be best, like Hraanul "Swift Claw" for that head hunter, but only for members of the tribe that won their nicknames for a reason, being that positive or even negative. Less interesting characters would be known only for their names.

Anyway, I wouldn't focus too much on names as they don't really help me much at creating dialogue and a personality for them. A short description as to why they are unique individuals would be perfect, and they don't really need to be epic. Just a normal guy that is, I don't know, the stone cutter in the village would be right.

Think of this tribe as very primitive, resembling a mix of native americans and Dothraki. Very warlike, patriarchal (though allowing women to fight and hunt if they want), bound by a strict sense of honor and with a rigid hierarchy you can rise only according if your deeds benefit the clan.

In regards to personality, are the general lizardmen going to be simplistic & brutish in nature - or will they be more developed and civil? If they are going to be (generally speaking) pure brutes who crave little more than fighting and sex then they could do with names with harsh syllables & crude titles for those who have them.

Some off the top name examples:

Thornskull (normal) (could also be a title)
Skarbane (normal) (could also be a title)
Grimjaw (normal) (could also be a title)
Vork'thar (fantastical)
Zel'qor (fantastical)
Othral (blend)
Qruk (blend)
Oruk (orkish)
Ukronq (orkish)
Lokthrust (4thwall kinky)


Some titles could be:

"Heartfingers" (ladies man? special character?)
"Stonefist/Ironfist" (brutal melee combatant/rank)
"Ashfang" (older, grizzled/veteran)
"Stonegrip" (kinky)

On a side note regarding NPC variety in the camp and or outside, if possible, I would love to see the double-dick wolf from the spin off game K-Fox & the Magic Sword return in some form either as a wolf or a mutated/prestigious Lizardman
Found these enemies very.... errotic :D
